There is lazy system of history which the Yorubas are fund of .

They rely on only a limited source of written histories or tales and they rely totally and absolutely on these limited sources without question.

There are several and numerous researches even by Yoruba researchers on various Yoruba groups and neighbours, some are available online while some are only accessed via libraries.

In history studies all sides must be considered and conclusions are hardly made until authentic proofs are found.

What I have observed about Yoruba people is that they focus on few probably not well researched historic texts and jump to conclusions especially those that elevate the Yoruba status or claim other groups are derived from Yoruba.

This is a very unintelligent way of understanding history and origins what more from a people that claim to be intellectually advanced and sophisticated.

The popular claims of ile-ife origins of various nonyoruba groups have been severally debunked by independent researchers but they refuse to accept it.

Even within Yoruba itself ,various groups have different origin claims,eg the ijebu and parts of ondo and ekiti.

The Benin IFE relationship is dynamic and the claim of the ancestors of the oba of Benin being Yoruba is complex and cannot be as simple as the Oduduwa son ,oromiyan claim.

Some research as even faulted the claim that oromiyan founded Oyo.

There are modern books written that debunks alot of the IFE Oduduwa claims.

The fact is the Yorubas who were one of the earliest western educated groups in Nigeria propagated these ile-ife claims that elevated the Yoruba status among tribes, many other groups who received their early Western education later,in some cases via these Yoruba people unwittingly distorted their own history by picking their sources from the Yoruba documentation, modern research as debunked alot of these fake histories and claims by the Yoruba.

Those who history did not favour will always look for ways to try and destroy or nullify the historical and cultural heritage of their neighbor who are blessed historically.

Yoruba are greatly endowed historically; we are blessed by nature and your inferiority complex, and you been historically disfavor cannot change the fact on ground about the Yoruba History.

Go and ask about us in Benin Republic, Togo, Sierra Leone, Cuba, Haiti, Brazil, Venezuela, Trinidad, Tobago, Puerto Rico, Nigeria and even Ghana. You will find us there in abundance.

Nigeria government should please, include history curriculum into schools right from Primary Schools before these revisionists destroy the history of this great nation.

There are Agatu in Kogi state. They were mentioned prominently in the news yesterday since they occupy some part of Kogi state as well. Some bandits attacked them in Kogi state just yesterday but you will never focus on that.

The first history of ife/Bini origin was written by a Bini man.

Ask why the new generation of Bini are trying to rewrite his book.

And why Bini bear Yoruba names but Yoruba don't bear Bini names.

Not even the ones that claim to come from Bini in Lagos.

Hehehe. I am happy that their two leading contenders have strong Yoruba ties either via names or via blood. It's impossible to go into a battle with God.

LP: Gov, Olumide and Deputy Gov, Olayinka
PDP: Gov, Asue Akintunde Ighodalo.

I explained the origin of this Yoruba naming convention, it was due to the missionary activities of the early Yoruba Christians in some parts of Edo, also many communities a clear case is of the igarra people in Akoko-edo who everybody agrees that they are ebira but they also bare Yoruba names including surnames,it was simply due to Yoruba influence not origins, you must understand this, the Yoruba were quite influential in the past especially during the early colonial era

The same history revision you were falsely accusing the Yoruba of is what you're doing here. What do you stand to gain by spilling out all these falsehoods and conjectures that you formed in your head against the written and oral history of both people whose history you're trying to manipulate?

Are you saying you know the history of Benin/Ife more than the Oba of Benin?
You heard the Oba proclaiming himself a direct descendant of Oranmiyan and you are here sweating to convince yourself otherwise.
Who is the revisionist here?

igarra people are of mixed origin.

Not everyone in igarra bears Yoruba name or have anything to do with Yorubas.

That's why I said the oromiyan,IFE benin relationship is complex ,to the oba of Benin, oromiyan was the son of an Edo exiled prince, while the Yoruba see him as a Yoruba man,the matter hasn't been concluded on his true identity

Same with ibilo, not everyone in ibilo bares Yoruba names, whatever the origin of igarra, they have limited Yoruba ancestry, yet alot of them bare Yoruba names infact the majority
