Bunch of jokers. Nigeria really spoilt her people silly with subsidies; so much they are tuned out of reality.

It's only in Nigeria that people wants all the solid infrastructures and the goodies that comes with it without paying a dime. Even tax, most don't pay. Before the fuel subsidy was removed, most were moving about with the faux reality that they are rich and earning enough. The removal shattered that reality completely. And na them dey say rubbish the previous years about the government not doing anything for them.

Fuel and dollar subsidy was removed everyone started crying.

Without toll, how do people expect the project to come to reality? The funniest thing is that most people championing this narrative have traveled outside the country and seen how infrastructure work in "sane climes".

Another issue is illiteracy. Many don't even understand the project, its importance, and what it stands to offer us all regard savings on travelling expenses, economic boost, and repping the nation on the global stage.

The costal highway will reduce the travel time from Lagos to Ilaje, Ondo State to just 45 minutes (that's just for one out of the many lanes that will cut across the South West, South East, and South South). Anyone who thinks the #3k toll gate is too expensive should use the alternative routes. It's that simple. Moreover, the minister Umahi said the 3k is just the average, meaning small vehicles could pay like 1.5k and heavy duty trucks pay 5k. So wtf is the buzz all about?

Like I've said, the country pampered the people too much with subsidizations. Too much.

You all complain of a simple toll on the greatest infrastructural development this nation has ever seen but will pay through your noses by acquiring loans and selling generational properties just to get visa to the "saner climes". You will get there to become 4th class citizens and pay through your noses all the days of your lives to their governments in form of taxes, bills, etc - literally slaving away daily so you don't get thrown out of your houses.

People think a 700km costal highway is one of those roads within their housing estates. A super highway that will have a train lane in the middle for that matter. Una never ready.

You are complaining about Subsidy to Nigerians BUT you kept quiet on the ELEPHANT in the room which is the cause of Nigerians PAINS which is COORUPTION.
Some People has stolen Nigeria Resources and walking FREE, This ate the people GOVT should collect every kobo and punish them. Govt should enact a law on Capital punishment for stealing of Public Funds

Developed countries subsidizes some items for their people despite their living wage higher than ours

What are the looting money in Nigeria supposed to do, endless years of looting, instead to fight the real enemy they cut across it as a no go area, they then turn to fragile policies that can't do a pinch in the Nigeria problem, if that fails they start looking for another feeble solution, that still wouldn't do pinch, leaving an obvious problems that will swoop a Change for all generations to come glamorously sitting.

will you pay Eu1k for a toll in UK, 1k dollars for same in America?
it seems the revenue from oil is being sighted specifically for squander. what we are saying is what change has happened in the course of governance that has set Nigerian to grow. A leader can't feel the burden of changes happening directly to his followers, that is tyranny and slave master ideology in disguise, we have leaders but will carry all the burdens for them.

in those countries if you pay for anything you get it in it's premium and best quality, you dey see the things dey use live and direct. here which way, which way my brother?

Couldn't have said it better. We love to enjoy better amenities, but we dont want to pay for it. I am sure there are other alternative roads people can take if they dont want to ply the super highway. But for anyone that values speed, convenience, and time value of money, I am sure this is a no brainer!

The elites are to blame for whatever skewed expectation the followers have. They promote the narrative that money is there and it is just a case of corrupt people in power. That was how APC came to power and started borrowing left right back and front. Even printing money.
They made it sound as if Nigeria was rich and after getting power they started a new song and are looting the system harder than that what met on ground.
It is same heightened expectation they brainwash Fulani paupers with that is fueling banditry, terrorism and insecurity generally.

I believe in pay-as-you-use and tolling is one of the fairest form of that if not the best but don't blame folks complaining about N3000 toll. Someone made them believe there was excess money in the system before assumimg power. Plus there Is a free insecure and poorly maintained alternative.

The concept is akin to NNPCL trying to build another refinery in Sokoto that will sell petrol at international market price when the older ones cannot run.
It is the typical Lagos looting template the Tinubu APC has adopted so far.

EponObi:

Nigerian masses don't generate headlines that portrays Nigeria as being rich. The elites and leaders do.
That was what Tinubu and Co did before APC got power at federal level. They made people believe the money was there. Today they have choked the system with borrowings that were wasted on unviable projects and in continuation of this demonic pattern want to borrow to build a redundant mega project in reaction to subsidy removal pangs.
Refineries are not working o. Old roads are insecure and still in terrible shape o. How many people even travel these days?

Umahi is good at useless bogus infrastructures, ebonyi international airport is yet to generate a Kobo, at 45b naira, international conference center is yet to generate a Kobo at 15billion, ebonyi Olympic stadium is yet to generate a Kobo as 10billion has been expended, this is a man that taxed even pple selling vegetables , took over community lands etc, building flyovers in the wilderness were they re just used to dry crops and cloths.
Thank you.
Instead of maintaining existing roads and upgrading them, they want to fresh project that can guaranty them good looting margin into the future. Same pattern that left Lagos the largest economy but disorganized and chaotic.

The concept is akin to NNPCL trying to build another refinery in Sokoto that will sell petrol at until market price when the old ones cannot run.
It is the typical Lagos looting template the Tinubu APC has adopted so far.

You are 100% correct.

I had to check East West road, it connects Lagos to Calabar the same purpose of this road, the East West road is in very bad condition, same with other Federal roads rather than fix it, this useless government wants to duplicate the same project just to loot and waste scarces resources.

And the funny part is some low IQ FOOls are here defending them.
