This is a statement of fact. The united States of America( USA) has given 105 National awards in 200 years,Nigeria has given 3,924 National awards in 48 years? hmmm food for thought.

That is at a rate of 82 awards per year, in Nigeria.  Who says that National awards in Nigeria are not cheap? Yet we can all count on our fingers, the number of Nigerians, in that period who have greatly impacted development in our society/Nation.

Doing some maths, GEJ alone has handed out almost 9% of the total number of awards despite being Nigeria's president for less than 4% of the entire period since independence (that's also including the remnant of UMYA's years).

At this rate GEJ will exceed all other previous presidents combined by the end of his 4th year in office.

I mean out of the thousands we have given over time, can we genuinely say have contributed SIGNIFICANTLY to a positive image of their small society, or even the nation as a whole. Was that award for patriotism and nationalism? Methinks the awards were for recognition and appreciation for 'helping me win the last presidential election'.

Is there a list of Nigeria's 4,000 recipients?

That way we know who or where to go when kata kata bursts and some people need to answer for their crimes.

@OP- Pls dont try to compare. Nigerian awards are not US awards. Getting such awards in Nigeria is just like getting ur first computer appreciation certificate, as we have seen recently. Exactly!  3,924 awards generously splashed out to the wealthiest and the most famous individuals, several of them who have bled the country than build it, is just the right way to show that Nigeria values her people

wonder how Cecilia Ibru and Erastus Akingbola bagged themselves awards?  wonder how many soldiers, policemen, firefighters, researchers and other service men made that list?. . .probably because they aren't "important" enough?
