What happened to the free market?

How can a finance minister allow such to happen under his watch?

If inflation was estimated to be20.9% in this year's budget, why the shock at galloping inflation

Get educated on microeconomics before spewing things like this online

You should be the one to get educated instead of spreading self hate upandan

Prices of most basic items are regulated in all the developed countries of the world, so Tinubu's government is perfectly on track.

[quote Consumers should not expect any immediate reduction in prices. Replacement costs of those products that are in the warehouses and markets are what the market will have to sell because the price at which they bought it must be fully recovered before they can go and buy at new prices.” [/quote]

But when the price goes up, they will sell old stock for the new price. You will not complain that it is wrong. Very selfish and self-centred set of Nigerians

Good one.

Don't only go there once to enforce and then stop. Always go from one super market to another to ensure compliance

Will you restock their imported goods?

Let FG also reduce import duty for imported products (not produced in the country)

I thought Tinubu and his clueless economic team said Market forces will determine the price of goods and services. cheesy

When we tell them Tinubu have nothing to offer they call us names but we are ever determined to rescue our nation from propagandists.

A working government should understand and enforce Price Regulation to ensure fairness.

He did this right. What business does a Yam and Pepper seller have with Dollar or Forex instability? Many Nigerian traders are just greedy and need to be put in their place. At this point, Price Regulation is necessary.

Price regulation is primitive and dumb.
An effective government will prioritize implementing policies aimed at addressing root causes rather than chasing shadows and attacking symptoms.

The root cause is greed and lack of control. Primitive idea indeed. I bet you are one of the greedy traders who.think.you can operate your business anyhow by exploiting the forex instability. The nonsense should stop.

If Nigeria is producing, there won't be need to force prices on people, the ailing ones will be forced to adjust to Market dynamics.

However, it's commendable to stop fake practices like re-bagging of products assumed to be fake in the original ones and selling of spoilt and or expired food items which should be the work of NAFDAC

It appears this Govt. want traders to sell at a loss. After removing subsidy coupled with the rise in dollar (though dropping), increased electricity tariff and most importantly, the activities of Fulani Herdsmen and bandits, you need no suit sayer to tell you it will have spiralling effects on foods stuffs/prices of goods & services.

It's the high costs of transportating this foodstuffs and goods to the market that makes the costs of food stuffs and goods to be expensive because of the high costs of fuel and disel...if the price of fuel and disel is reduced and come down the price of foodstuffs and goods will reduce and come down

Foolish move! Very dangerous cos the government should not be fixing prices of goods forcefully!

The supermarkets will sell out at the forced fixed prices and not reopen cos they won't be able to have the capital to restock then you create another problem!!

Government can open their own farmers markets and stores which around the LGs and sell at their preferred prices and hopefully force the other stores to compete by reducing prices. Simple!!!
