Some of us have seen a few of these videos and we kept our opinions to ourselves - because we are not combatants and it isn't our world. That's why its always interesting to hear the comments of combatants from other parts of the world who can give an honest peer review, so to speak.

Unfortunately, the comments of these combatants from other countries fully validate our opinions and the observations of our untrained eyes. Someone on this thread who claims to have some combat experience in a foreign army has already questioned the tactics and basic operating procedures of the CO in this video. He isn't the only one - and they can't all be wrong.

Even if an allowance is made for online trolls out to do their thing - the comments by foreign soldiers on the tactics and soldiering of NA troops in these videos are overwhelmingly uncomplimentary. They are youtube videos and they are in the public domain, so nobody has to take my word for it.

Before anyone points a gun turret in my direction - I fully understand there is something called "the fog of war". Bullets and shrapnel on the battlefield don't follow directions on a movie script. But there is still a method to warfare - and there always has been. Real world combat IS messy. It is chaotic and uncertain but at the same time there is a method to it - there is strategy, there are tactics - and there is training. There are formations for each terrain. The way platoon members cross a valley in thick, dense jungle is very different from the way they move across hills and caves in the desert. There is a method to warfare!!

Gallant soldiers should first know what they went to fight for, or against.

Who in Nigeria does not know that the bandits are offshoots of Boko Haram fighting for a country to be governed with Sharia criminal laws; the same laws adopted by the political and religious leaders in the 12 far north Nigeria states?
It's like fighting a war without ending. Because the Boko Haram and bandits with those who adopted unconstitutional Islamic sharia criminal laws share same objectives for a country to be governed with Sharia criminal laws. I am glad you thought about that. And that is why you can't send every soldier in a line formation to advance.

Let us look at it this way..

What if there is a trench and it has been covered by the enemies, as the enemies are running away, the nigerian soldiers feeling smart and advancing forward.

They fall in the trench, this gives the enemies to attack. Or in that trench, there are spikes in it.

This is what I mean, that line formation is an old tactic of advancement. It has to be in a form of zig zag, well spaced. Even if the nigerian soldiers chased someone in the street and his men setsup an ambush, team A leading the pack would go into the ambush and not the entire "line formation" (team).

Same thing about my trench example. Team A would likely fall into the trench ,creating other team in a zig zag motion to be aware and not fall into the trench.

Omo, with your tactics, you will kill a platoon. We learned this in the USarmy.
