But this isn't the way the social safety networks are designed in those countries, is it, complete with red carpets and cameras as though a political event? undecided

If you want to compare, do so in a meaningful manner. Social programs aren't political avenues but programs designed to provide a safety net for the people which this does not look at all like. undecided

Anyways, hopefully, over the next couple of weeks, we expect the individual state governments to help organize and ensure such programs in fact thrive and they completely do away with these seeming political shows to use the poor as though jokes.

Vice-President Kashim Shettima says President Bola Tinubu has approved that 20 per cent of palliatives, in terms of food intervention, be routed through religious and traditional institutions.
If they come up with a way to do it in secret or decentralised it, you will complain that only a certain group of people were given. Now, they do it openly in the full glare of everybody, you complain again. We complain too much in Nigeria for a country where the Tax to GDP ratio is only 6%.

∆ But we have been feeding ourselves before now, we had food abundantly left right & centre & lot of families were eating more than 3 square meal but not anymore.
Government should Provide steady electricity, security, qualitative health care system, premium education, good roads, good justice system etc.
When all of this above mentioned is available & of which 🇳🇬 have the resources to make the citizenry life meaningful.
The keyword here is had. The country can no longer afford to ignore the millions who are hungry and in need. Sadly, this has to happen now. undecided

Lagos is putting structural changes in place, from agric cooperation with Kebbi, Niger and other states, to massive rice processing factories, to sustainable rail, water and road infrastructure, to car assembly plants, to Lekki deep sea port and all the massive developmental infrastructure within the Lekki Free trade zone and others too numerous to mention. The masterstroke is that it has its own as President with the massive benefits that will attract to Lagos - a case in point is the first phase of the Lagos-Calabar coastal road that will open up the entire Lekki corridor.

Are there more things to be done? Yes of course. Are the current steps in the right direction? Yes of course. Will it take time for the full impact to be felt? Yes of course. In the mean time, the vulnerable needs to be supported through food palliatives such as this and other short term poverty alleviation methods. It is an integral part of a total package designed to uplift citizens economically.

Think about bro. Can a country become better by doing things like this. When a man feeds you, he buys your conscience and existence. It is a terrible precedence. Not everything you defend

A good country ought to have a good foodbank system in place abeg! I agree with you that this here is more a political show where it seems those who show up with be bought with the food but a fully functioning FoodBank system, removed from all of the politics and deceit is necessary. undecided

Can't they find a way for them to be productive within the ambience of the Lagos economy? Instead of this bambiala economics....

Tell them o. They think we are stupid. They send Peanuts to fools and then put them on the streets so that they will lavish in poverty and be forever indebted to them. They think by giving out food, bikes, keke, grinding machines etc is empowerment. WHAT A SHAME ON THE GOVERNMENT.

That's one difference between an Igbo boy and a Yoruba slave. A Yoruba slave believes in getting crumbs from his slavemasters so hunger won't kpai him now and so he can be happy for few minutes. An Igbo boy believes in going hungry for 10 years and stay happy and live in affluence forever. Between these two, which one are you?

When will you free yourself from this mental slavery and begin to think as an Igbo boy?

Do you know why they store the food that can last for 50yrs. It's mostly if there is a natural disaster including war. Ohh, I forgot it's even a natural disaster that you are alive and healthy and couldn't free yourself from the slavery of receiving food from food banks from those who actually put you in that state. Won't you prefer a situation where sanwo Olu provided jobs such that you can daily earn a living and feed yourself at your own will.

Just so you know, not every state is reported to have received 80,000 bags of rice from Dangote in the last 4 weeks. So let's ask sensible questions here. undecided

Now you are regurgitating the same line your slave masters have sold to you for 50yrs.
Wait a minute, did they not tell you about millions of Igbo boys your age who lived and some are currently living with their Oga for 9yrs, eating only twice per day, not buying clothes for 9yrs, not drinking beer with friends, not attending party every other weekend like your owambe only to be settled later on and he became financially stable that he pulled other family members out of poverty and it so continues?

Are you living at all or you live by regurgitating old and stale lines of lies that have kept you in bondage?

Lagos is the only state in Nigeria that seem to care about their citizens other states in Nigeria are barely doing anything but it is very annoying that it is only Lagos state that's making small effort that these people can only criticize bitterly.

There was a thread about Soludo demolishing and displacing 4000 people there was barely any criticism on the thread but let it be about Lagos state every social media will be agog.

The criticism is not normal but out of bitterness and bigotry, these fools will never be satisfied with the government of any Yoruba man in Lagos or Nigeria, that's the bitter truth.

Their ambition is to conquer and rule Yoruba land either through deception or marriage. The plans seem to work so far and they are not relenting.

I hope we wake up fast before it's too late.
