The rise of numerous Nigerian companies with better or competing products contributed to the sales plunge.

Many women now produce soaps from their backyard.

This is not bad at all.

Yes I did. They will go look for available local or even international companies to render their services to or setup small-scale factories to that effect, which was how PZ itself started.

Nothing is lost from the macro viewpoint.

Stop with this! The so called local companies that you said will replace pz will also face high production costs. Do you think they are leaving because they are going on vacation? Unless we address the issues that make companies close shop in Nigeria, things won't change. Power inadequacy, economic policies also affects the local companies as well. And the local soap manufacturers have to work really hard to come up with a standard product like morning fresh. Maybe mama lemon can try and compete. And that one is becoming scarce in stores. There is a reason...

They can leave. Their main reason is reduced sales according to them and Nigeria is just leaving a recession, coupled with our fight against inflation. They're not the only ones who experienced a plunge in sales, a lot of Nigerians were forced to cut down on their expenditure and it affected businesses.

This is why the govt must support indigenous businesses cos all these foreign businesses have no real stake in the country. Once they can't maximise profit, they jet out. Only local businesses can bear with the country through hard times, just like BUA cement & Air Peace...
Interesting.
And how do you suggest government support the local business?

More will still leave! Great news for local producers and raw materials retailers.
I'm sure you don't know that thousands of Nigerians get there pay from these companies directly or indirectly. I'm sure you are not aware about their tax return also. You lot are horrible

Did you even go through the post? Get a hold of your emotions and stop acting like a baby crying for breastmilk!

Their reason for leaving has more to do with low sales, not any unique economic disadvantage. Same low sales affected Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa businesses in Nigeria, nothing new. So what should the government do for them to increase their profits? Should the government patronize them so they can stay or what? Or we should start begging them on social media, cos you claim to reason but you don't know what you're writing.
Low sales was as a result of the fall in purchasing power of the populace occasioned by bad economic policies. Make Una go school Una say no.

LOL... In your mind now you've said something intelligent 😂😂😂

Did anyone tell you it was as a result of good economic policies? Why didn't Air Peace stop operations when foreign airlines were complaining?

Did the purchasing power of Nigerians increase when Air Peace slashed the price which led to competition in the aviation sector?

I'm talking about supporting such indigenous businesses in light of such advantages, you're talking as if you just passed junior WAEC. Olodo 😆😂

Seeing comment like this always made me wonder if I'm sharing this great platform with other lower primates. Because no evidence to prove that a human being with his normal sense will utter such lame words I just read now.

Hardly can a multinational survive in this business environment. Our money is just too devalued. Once they convert all their naira sales to pounds and dollars, it will make no sense to them on top of insecurity. So the capital flight doesn’t even make sense anymore whereas you need little volume of sales abroad to raise higher revenue.

Secondly, multinationals try to equalize wages among managers, some of whom are expatriate . Can dey pay a worker $80,000 a year? That is over 100m in Nigeria money. And they have thousands of workers in Nigeria. And there are some now collected 250million naira which is just $190, 000 in US. How many products do you need to sell to pay one worker?

Nigeria should invest in their home goods and chemical with local resources but must ensure high quality standard by regulators. That way you are not thinking in pounds and dollars

This is good news! Don't come to Africa to make powder, cream and soaps instead bring your company to manufacture cars, phone, vaccines etc in Nigeria. Africa has been producing soaps before your company was birthed, let our local industries breath.
The staff of PZ should take whatever they are paid as severance package to invest in a startup business so that in the next 130 years they should have become a conglomerate too if God will.
