If not the presence of atmosphere on earth earth is basically darkness. Space is a vacuum with no presence of atmosphere for sun lights to bounce off that’s why it’s pitch black always.

The universe is so vast that even the sun & billions of star can illuminate everywhere.

How do they measure the distance between solar system?

Yes because light travels at 3.0 x 10^9, now how can they measure the distance between solar systems they claim they are light years apart?

I like this part, so how can the same sun gravity hold those planets in their orbit?

Don't you think the sun gravity will be too weak to act on them?
Bro I am a space enthusiast and an aspiring independent space researcher but I believe in God unlike most scientists that do not believe in God.
See, I will say that what keeps all these planets floating in an order without misaligning or colliding with one other is an enigma emanating from Providence .
Some of the scientific findings upheld today logically is bullshit-take for instance the big bang theory and the evolution of man.

Only God- the creator knows all there is to know about the universe because he is the creator.
What men know as of today is very minute and to a large extent not exactly very accurate.

As an astronomy student......
The space is massively wide beyond human imagination... that we ( earth ) barely get noticed in the cosmos phenomenal.

Let's say Delta state is our solar system(milky way)..and Asaba is the capital i.e The Sun. warri is Earth, Agbor is Mars etc...

Nigeria as whole is the Galaxy, and we have thousands or uncountable States in Nigeria of which every states has their own state capitals, some has more than one capitals ( Sun)

Then we have Africa as continent which can be referred as the Universe here, and inside the African continent, we have thousands/ uncountable countries ( Galaxies).

Now here comes the observable universe ( let's say the world wide) inside the observable universe we have uncountable universe..

Then we have the Multiverse , this is the collections of observable universe with different laws of nature etc..

The cosmos is like a vessel..containing uncountable things ( gravity, planet, stars, blackhole, wormhole,
white dwarf, gas dust, etc etc etc)....the more we discover , the lesser we know...

We barely exist...

Sometimes I do question the existence of God, or he's powerful beyond human ever imagination..
Or the nature itself is the God!!

Light particle need to hit an object before they can be visible. Point your touchlight to the sky you won't see the rays of light. But as soon as the light rays hit the wall or roof they become visible.

If illumination can't penetrate some planets it means the sun is very small when view from those planets.

An ironically the Sun gravity can reach everywhere as far as holding the biggest planet in our solar system in its orbit

Isn't that wonderful?
People can swallow anything sha
sun light do get to all planets in the solar system just that it is comparably weaker.
The biggest planet in the solar system is very small in comparison to the size of the sun.

In Optics incident and reflected rays are dependent on an object which makes it impossible to get light in space (vacuum).
The sun hits the Earth"s cruste from millioñs of km away and those "fire storms" are bigger than the Earth in size but normal solar system activities and solar wind negates the effects of cosmic rays on the planetary system.

So you already have a preconceived mindset, now disturbing us.

I thought you were a science enthusiast or space enthusiast.

Next time open this in the religious section.

There are things that science can't decipher or understand, but the basics, like the questions you posed have all been answered by science...for instance the earth is not 6000 years old, we know that space is vast because of calculations and space craft man have sent to space. If our computers and equipments for calculating distances on Earth work, why will we doubt the calculations science brings out about space?

Stop mixing up religion and science... everything about religion are encapsulated in a book, science is beyond that, and religion is not the way to the truth or a better world, its more about manipulation.

but isn't the sun 360 degrees all around all light? rays emanating from all sides? so essentially, you're saying some parts of the sun is opaque?

The reason is that light is invisible in space unless it hits matter like dust, cloud, wall, earth etc and reflects

In the vast expanse of space, where darkness seems to dominate, the presence of sunlight might seem contradictory. How can there be sunlight in space, yet it appears so dark? This apparent paradox arises from the unique characteristics of space and the way light interacts with it.

Firstly, let’s delve into why space appears dark. Unlike Earth’s atmosphere, which scatters sunlight in all directions, space is mostly empty. There are very few particles—atoms, molecules, or dust—in the vast void between celestial bodies. As a result, there are minimal obstacles for light to scatter off, leading to the perception of darkness.

However, despite the darkness of space, the Sun remains a prominent source of light. The Sun emits an immense amount of energy in the form of electromagnetic radiation, including visible light. As this light travels through the vacuum of space, it encounters little resistance and continues to propagate until it encounters an object.

One might wonder then, why doesn’t the light from the Sun illuminate all of space, eliminating the darkness? The answer lies in the vast distances between celestial bodies. Space is incomprehensibly vast, with light taking significant time to travel from one point to another. While sunlight does spread throughout space, its intensity diminishes with distance according to the inverse square law. As a result, by the time sunlight reaches our eyes—or the sensors of telescopes—the intensity is greatly reduced, contributing to the perception of darkness.

Furthermore, space is not completely devoid of matter. Though sparse, there are interstellar clouds, asteroids, comets, and other celestial objects scattered throughout the cosmos. These objects can absorb or scatter light, further contributing to the darkness of space by obstructing the path of sunlight.

Another factor to consider is the human perception of darkness. Our eyes adapt to the environment we are in, and in the absence of surrounding light sources, the contrast between the darkness of space and the brightness of celestial objects like stars and planets becomes more pronounced. Thus, even though there is sunlight in space, the overall perception remains one of darkness due to the vast distances, sparse matter, and human visual adaptation.

In conclusion, the apparent paradox of sunlight coexisting with darkness in space can be attributed to several factors, including the vast distances between celestial bodies, the sparse distribution of matter, and human perception. While sunlight does permeate space, its intensity diminishes over distance, and the absence of scattering particles leads to the perception of darkness. Understanding these dynamics enriches our appreciation of the cosmos and the interplay between light and darkness in the universe.

God created the sun to shine light to the earth which he created for a (his own) purpose. Science is a knowledge that tries to interpret life and existence but only to the extent that God allows man to know. Each time I come across science trying to find out answers that are glaringly found in the scriptures but decided to ignore it in order to make science relevant I laugh and shake my head

Let's focus on the things that are revealed to us and forget about things that are not accessible to our comprehension, the moment you realise that there is a creator who created all things, you won't bother yourself about some of the things we pay soo much attention to.
