God has done this! This could only be God. Everyone keeps talking about IVF and surrogacy. My closest sister in law had undergone several IVFs, all proved abortive. With IVF, it still takes God's grace for perfection and safe delivery.

Nobody can receive anything, unless it is given or released from above. Great is the Lord God of Sabaoth.

Here is how it probably went...she probably got some of her eggs stored years ago, and every now and then tried IVF with her hubby, and it worked after several rounds.

The world record is 69 years old , by one indian woman. (Yes, she was severely criticised for doing so).

(Just checked, she was 73.)

My mum had 3 boys and 2 girls. She stopped giving birth in 1988. I am the firstborn but long after she had already passed menopause, at the age of 54, she got pregnant again at a time when I was already preparing for marriage in 2010. Me, her first born was well passed 30yrs at the time.

She wasn't looking for a child, so there was no IVF involved but she got pregnant anyway and delivered a bouncing baby girl who is now growing rapidly.

You guys should give glory to God whenever He does the unthinkable and stop attributing every conception miracle to IVF.

Menopause can last till 55 years maximum. It does not start until 12 months past the last period. If momma was seeing her period till 55 , she could have gotten preggers at 54..

Well, IVF is not that easy. People go through several cycles before they get successful. Being able to have a succesful IVF , with all the wahala...is something to give thanks to God for, along with thanks for creating the brains, ideas and people who made it possible.

Miracle still do happen,
Some persons before they clock 50 menopause has set in, why for some it happens in their mid 50's... If you do your research more, you would know that, the chances of having twins increases more as one get older.

my neighbor self did same. She just gave birth recently, she should be in are early 50's and also twins. The shocking thing was we never knew she was pregnant and suddenly just heard that she was pregnant. It was kind of a good news because she has been married for more than 17years.

Congratulations to the family.
I have seen so many headlines like this ove r the years and have always felt the need to establish the facts.

Women are born with a fixed number of egg cells. They don't produce egg cells till they die.

On average, women start menstruating at 12 years and attain menopause at 45 years which is 33 years of egg release monthly which gives you a total of about 400 eggs released from puberty. The rest die off and it happens faster closer to menopause. By menopause, no egg cells are left. So how do you get pregnant at 56 when he eggs are finished by like 45/50?

Another aspect women need to understand is that the need for them to get married or conceive early is not just a random idea.
By natural selection, the best egg cells mature into eggs first and released. On top of that, there is no mechanism to correct errors that happen in egg cells. The longer the egg cells, stay in the body, the higher the number of errors that occur. Meaning, as she grows older, the quality of eggs keeps dropping and she is more likely to birth a child with one form of defect or another than a girl who got pregnant at 20. That is why it is usually adviced to try and have your kids by 30-35 at the least
