Ahead of his first anniversary in office on May 29, Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti has received an affirmative endorsement by the leadership of the Labour Party (LP) in the state and 17 local government areas.

Rising from an enlarged meeting which had in attendance the Governor, the entire party hierarchy in the state, all political appointees in the Executive Cabinet, elected members at the National and State Assemblies, and senior stakeholders, the Party unanimously passed a vote of confidence in Governor Otti, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Kazie Uko said in a statement.

Representative Hon. Obi Aguocha, Ikwuano-Umuahia Federal Constituency, who moved the motion to pass the vote of confidence, said Governor Otti, within 11 months of assumption of office into a four-year tenure, has made the party proud as he had surpassed all expectations, the statement added.

Aguocha, who moved the motion while giving a vote of thanks to round off the meeting convened on Sunday at the Governor's residence, was supported by the member representing Obingwa-Osisioma-Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency, Hon. Munachim Alozie, who seconded the motion. The Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa, put the decision to vote, to which the meeting roared unanimously in approval.

The meeting, according to stakeholders, was called, primarily, for the party hierarchy in the state and the local government areas, to familiarise themselves with the various appointees of government, including members of the State Executive Council and local government Mayors.

Governor Otti, who was pleasantly surprised at the show of solidarity and confidence by his party leadership and other stakeholders, expressed gratitude to God that people had taken note of the "modest" achievements recorded by his administration in less than one year in office.

"We must thank God that some few modest results are showing. We could have worked hard, like we have done in the last 11 months, without anything to show," Governor Otti said.

The Governor informed the meeting that he met Abia at a sub-zero level, negative, contrary to some widely held view that the state was at ground zero. According to him, it would have been better if the administration had met the state at ground zero, "but we were coming from negative. If you have to come from negative to ground zero, you have to work very hard.

Alex Otti is setting a good example. And when you listen to him speak, you will learn something. This is another Peter Obi in the making. Please continue keeping ineffective governors on their toes until they wake up to their responsibilities. No governor has an excuse to fail.

As long as God keeps Otti Alive, his 8 years is sure. I don't know what APC and PDP will use to campaign in 2027

It is not by parry, both Ambode and Amosun were in same parry, they both began construction of roads plus bridges in same year. Ambode finished his own project in within two years but Amosun for the entire 8 years failed to complete it, the road is yet to be completed till date

It is by being responsible and responsive to responsibility

I was in Aba 2 weeks ago and i must say the town is different from what it used to be. No more dirts, no more floods on the roads after the rains, the roads are good and people are happy with the present administration. I also learnt that the extortion of keke drivers by agberos all in the name of tax was banned in his early days in office. Governor Otti is really doing very well for Abians.

Abians will also be happy if the past administration is brought to book.

These are my observations.

As long his leadership is void of propaganda, I have no issue with him.


But the party members or faithfuls have been tending towards that direction as of late.


Same thing we are attacking this present government for.

If you want a better Nigeria, you must learn to attack your father when he is wrong.
