[b]Political Adviser to President Goodluck
Jonathan, Alhaji Ahmed Gulak said PDP
did not flout any court order by
conducting the governorship election
primary in Bayelsa State last Saturday.
Gulak who spoke at a news conference
on Monday in Abuja said that the
purported court order did not stop the
primary as there was no ex-parte order
saying PDP should not hold the primary.
“The court said PDP must be put on
notice and properly heard before such
order is given and gave the return date
to be the 22nd of November.
“The court did not give them the ex-
parte order they sought. The court said
`put PDP on notice so that we can come
and hear you’, but the court did not stop
primaries.
“The issue here is there was no ex-parte
order, but that the parties must come
back to court to be heard on why the
order should not be given. So PDP did
not flout any order.’’
Gulak explained that President
Jonathan’s absence at the primary was
because of his decision not to be seen
as interfering in the exercise, stressing
that the president’s engagement on
state matters overshadowed his
involvement in party primary.
The presidential adviser added; “four of
them were disqualified and the
president had no hand in their
disqualification and he vowed and kept
to his promise to allow the party organs
to do their duty without any
interference.’’ He however, stressed that
the primary was free and fair and that
the PDP would forward to INEC any
candidate it felt would win the election.
