OfoIgbo: Bros, what you see happening has its roots in the uncivil war and post war period, when some Ijaw, emboldened by the encouragement and support they got from their Fulani/Yoruba hegemonic 'liberators', proceeded to try and 'landlock' Igboland by 'ijawnising' all city-states and settlements along the coast! Have you ever wondered why bigoted Igbo-haters from certain ethnicities outside the south-south/south-east are obsessed with the idea that Alaigbo is 'landlocked'....ALWAYS siding with the Ijaw on issues pertaining to the ethnic identity of Opobo, Bonny, etc.....going insane with anger when there's any linkage or commonality of purpose of all ethnicities in the south-south and south-east, yet don't mind hearing of 'one north'!? Remember when a certain useless president made the unfortunate gloating remark of Igboland being 'a dot in a circle'? Remember the set of bigots that got a serious boner over said comment? Few days after he made that remark, he was visited by Diette-Spiff, with a retinue of Bayelsa chiefs in tow, and they all were grinning from ear to ear, looking pleased that they had accomplished something! The confidence the Fulani hegemonic cabal, that passed for the Buhari gov't, has to go after the Biafra/Kanu secessionist agenda derives from their belief that the Ijaw are their partners in this, and this is why you see threads like this trying to sell the wrong notion that Ijaw 'own' the entire coastline of Nigeria from Lagos to Calabar....thereby implying Alaigbo is 'landlocked' and hemmed into 'just your 5 south-east states' which was delineated for them by the 'liberators' and their Ijaw partners in 1967! This is why i warn that Ndigbo should be wary sharing the same country wth three ethnicities in particular, because it has become apparent over the years that these groups stated aim is to undermine Igbo territorial, economic and political interests in 'one Nigeria'! We can NEVER reach our full potential sharing the same country with these three groups of people! TO BE FORE-WARNED IS TO BE FORE-ARMED! 4 Likes |

If I were to be the governor of this state, I'd definitely make this kind of place the Hamburg of Nigeria... This kind of place supposed to have a Deep Sea Port so that the pressure on Lagos Ports will be reduced but our government no go ever open eyes see this one. Ohh my God, see big water. |

Those saying Okrika is not ijaw, is not true. We can say alot of igbo people migrated to Okrika, but the Okrika people are offsprings of awoba, one of the progenators of the ijaw race. Be fair and stake claims where it is true. However Opobo people and the Bonny people are Hybrid group whose ancestry would be mostly 80 percent or more igbo, and the land itself was ruled by igbo kings and their decendants throughout. The Kalabari people are more like 40 percent ijoid, some ikwerre igbo, some hinterland igbo, some awka cross people, who all call themselves Kalabari at this point. The issue here is this, it is the choice of these communities to chose what they wish to call themselves but they should be fair and not try to erase the igbo history here as that its hurtful to igbo people, as the igbo peoples earliest interactions both oral and written with europeans were in these places, its unfair to think its ok to start arm twisting these stories for political reasons. Finally, the Obolo people, either eastern or western are definitely not Ijaw people, as a matter of fact, their least composition is ijoid, they are a fusion of ibo, akwa cross, ogoni and a tiny bit of a no longer existing Ijaw clan called Defraka. Ijaw people claiming the entire place is provoking to the other groups whose histroy lies there in. The Obolo people themselves fought the ijaw people for generations, and some as recently as in the 80s. Of what benefit is it to the Ijaw people to make an enemy of other tribes in the area by claiming these clans. There is already enough oil to serve generations in Bayelsa and parts of ijaw clans in rivers and delta. Why try to erase other peoples history for politics? 5 Likes |

Fubara is Igbo bro. Ijaws were carved into Bayelsa after the state was created. Bayelsa is typically an Ijaw state while Rivers is an Igbo and Ogoni state. 4 Likes |

No be only nation na street. To claim igbo areas too dey hungry some people. The igbos in the so called south south, make up over 65% of the population. The igbos know their people. Not all in Rivers are igbos, we know that, but igbos are the most populated in Rivers. May God continue to bless the great igbo nation. We can and should create the future we want as a society. I believe the igbo nation will be in the committee of the first three nations on earth in 10 to 15 years. With the igbos, nothing good is impossible. 4 Likes |

OfoIgbo:Bonny people claim an Igbo decent even in 1850s from the page of the book you attached written by the Europeans. I am not from rivers state but my mother born eighty years ago in Opobo spoke Igbo as her first language. She's not Igbo by the way. I watched a documentary about opobo but they are heavily of Igbo stock. |
