“The economic team, to me, looks more like tax collectors than economists. Taxation does not grow economy; only production does,” he stated"

Exactly! Their stock in trade is to collect tax without commensurate outcome.

Nigeria is one of the most under-taxed countries in the world.

IF WE DON'T PAY TAXES WE CANNOT EXPECT IMPROVED SERVICES.

The reason LAGOS has been the leading state for many years now in terms of development is because they vastly increased their tax revenues.

That ILLITERATE MALLAM should shut his Gworo-chewing lips, and go learn how a modern economy works.

can you give us an account of the amount of taxes Nigerians paid in the last 5years and what has been achieved with the taxes? how is Lagos "the leading state for many years now in terms of development is because they vastly increased their tax revenues"?

was there any time since 1914 that Lagos was not the leading state in terms of development?

The taxes that goes straight to politician's pockets, is that what you call tax for development? I think you are the illiterate here because every good economist will tell you that taxing people is not what grows the economy of a county.

That ILLITERATE MALLAM should shut his Gworo-chewing lips, and go learn how a modern economy works.

Do you know there are many prosperous countries that do not tax their citizens? I mean they pay no tax at all.

We shouldn’t just copy everything that happens in the western world because it works for them, we should try to develop our own indigenous ways of governance.

Stop calling this Director of community engagement for Atiku/PDP campaign in 2023 a member of NEF.

HE was also sacked for corruption as NHIS boss in 2019 by buhari

The media always fail to refer to this man as who he is!

A PDP chieftain, which one is NEF.

It's like calling Peter obi ,A member of ohaneze Ndigbo or Tinubu, member of Afenifere!...or calling buhari & Atiku members of ACF or NEF!
But what he stated are all true, renewed hope yet i never heard how is favoring them and their families like it was claimed

Who didn't know that tinubu was a tax collector?

Nigerians tagged him buhari promax before the election. Still he buy his way. Those that collected dollars from him during the primary election and main election how have they fair so far with the money looking at the economy of today.

Black people majorly don't think of the future, they just can't see beyond 6 months. It might be due to evolution or over religion.

I can't believe people collect money to support tinubu just after buhari finished destroying Nigeria. Such act will still happen again.

The North majorly have this bad choice in every presidential election since 1999.
Their votes are based on religion rather than competence.

If not for obj that forces Musa yaradua on them they were already rally round a failed buhari.

Did Tinubu win the North?

In developed countries you talk about, tak is not govt property. Tax is govt borrowing from the people or biz to fund capital projects and return back to the citizens after a year. Ask any nigerian you know living in US & Canada majority of them got their taxes back(tax return). Has Nigeria done tax return for the millions of civil servants working. This current system will die together with all those supporting it.

All Nigerians can criticise their political leaders there are needs to do so. They are always free to express themselves. But he comes to equity must come with clean hands. If you plan genocides and are happy to execute them based on your corrupt moral and ethnic superiority or inferiority complex, weaponising religion to that end, do you still have any moral right to criticise anyone with any form of failure?

I don't agree with that your economic view of Nigeria because it is wrong owing to your fallacy of generalisation. Lagos made so much money from tax because people make so much money in Lagos. Many of us moved down to Lagos to make more money and it is fair for the government to tax the money we make. More than 80 percent of big companies in Nigeria operate from Lagos. Productions, shipping, banking, startups all take place in Lagos. Tell me 6 other states in Nigeria that can boast of economic activities like this. How do you tax an economy that does not generate money? Abi you wan dey tax beggar?
Simply put, the larger and potent your economy, the higher the potential for tax generation.

More than 30 states in Nigeria are just civil servant states. I mean civil servants with minimum wage of 30k, petty traders and subsistence farmers are the major economic drivers of the states.
