Well, for policies in the oil and gas industry, I am not surprised. When Nambia starts drilling, IOCs would further reduce their exposure to Nigeria. Angola borders Namibia. Policy inconsistencies and insecurity are major hindrances to investment by MNCs across all industries.

Honestly, if we don't do things right, other African countries would surpass in basic governance and protection of private property.

The Federal government is not willing to solve the problem in Nigeria Delta, not concern about the development and security. Only interested in Lagos and Abuja. The region that lays the golden egg lay in ruins.

OP IS A LIAR

THE CEO of Total NEVER said that he diverted a 6 billion dollar project from Nigeria to Angola.

He did complain about inconsistency of policies and lengthy debates.

And he said Nigeria HAS the educated people, while they struggle in other African countries to find qualified people.

The conference, with Dangote in attendance, was highly favourable to Nigeria.

The OP is deceiving you, and the Mods took his deceit to Front Page.

Damn. That would have been a massive investment if not for Tinubulation.

Just look at how Nigeria is killing our dream in the Niger Delta region.

By now, Ph would have looked like Japan, Uyo like Johannesburg. CRS would be like Toronto, Delta like Peterborough and Bayelsa like Miami. But here we are, trapped in Nigeria.

The SS region still remains the best in the country.

Shut up, some years back I was in one of the south south state, at exonn mobile to be precise , I can see some people blocking the entrance to their facility demanding money,

If Nigeria president supporters stole balot boxes and were attacking and physically harming innocent voters in Lagos to win election.. then how will any sane investor bring such huge investment to Nigeria?

You think investors are blind? they know what is happening in Nigeria and will rather invest were there's reasonable peace at least.

When you spoke this obvious truth to those involved, they turned around to accuse you of being an unpatriotic citizen and demarketing the country.

Patrick Pouyanne just wants to put pressure on PBAT and the Nigerian Govt. Granted that the PIB was in the works for several years but now that it has been passed, there is little excuse.

The fiscal terms they enjoy in the deep water space is one of the best in the world. If they can't invest in the onshore business for security and crude theft reasons, they have little excuse in the deep offshore space.

I was wondering what exactly could be the policy inconsistency considering PIB has been passed. However, the bold is a major issue regardless of deep offshore space. Even Elumelu complained. How much a foreigner.

I wonder why he was quiet on their investment in Mozambique where the massive LNG investment has run into troubled waters due to massive insecurity issues. Angola might be the short term beneficiary but they all know Nigeria offers long term benefits and Patrick only wants to strike a good deal with Tinubu. TotalEnergies realises 10% of its global revenue from this same Nigeria and about 13% of its global investments are in Nigeria. Just think of that for a moment. Not sure they are in a hurry to leave a country they have been doing business in since the 1950s or so. Patrick just wants to pressure us to get a little more from Nigeria.

The company plans to restart the project later this year. Just wondering how all of a sudden Mozambique started experiencing Islamic terrorism. The figures you have about Total's connection with Nigeria are interesting.

Well, I think they're right to reject Nigeria and choose Angola instead, because,

Their company will just be demolished in a short while.

Don't invest in Lagos, even the international community knows.

They wanted to put the investment in the Niger Delta area not Lagos state

Anyone that brings in money for investment is not doing so to help you. He's looking to take out much more in profits.

I think I prefer an indigenous company like Dangote than those that will take out our money and repatriate to their home countries in billions of dollars.... Making our economy to experience naira weakening over and over again

There is nothing wrong with MNCs investing in Nigeria. Even the US seeks foreign investment. Foreign investments bring greater competition, superior technical know-how, different ways of doing things etc. We need them as much as they need us.

Also, nothing wrong with a weak naira. Nigeria is too populated to have a strong naira.

I Agree with everything EXCEPT LACK OF TALENT

I bet my balls Nigeria is not lacking on the HUMAN TALENT aspect.

The major issue is, majority of those people don't even get the chance to present themselves

Besides, his talk about lack of talent get as e be. Is he saying the hordes of engineering graduates from our universities and even the diaspora are not qualified? So, wetin dem dey teach people for our engineering facilities? Upon say private universities have exploded in large number and quality too.

I recall when people wrote ExxonMobil aptitude tests which were spread across Houston, Uyo, Lagos, Abuja and Dubai. They complained of seeing "Greek like" characters during the abstract reasoning and how the calculations were tough. Nevertheless, ExxonMobil still employed people, all of whom were Nigerians.

Mr Patrick has to reclarify.

Criminality does not run economy. All his globetrotting in vain. You can't deceive the West as you deceive your Agbado munching barbarians for they know you. You ask them to come invest in your country but at the same time you're demolishing people's investments. Who does that if not criminal minded dark figures. Landmark's $200M investment was destroyed without thinking twice coz of tribalism. Ngwa nu, go and tow the investors to Nigeria.

One thing you fail to a knowledge is that when foreign investments comes in, the money is totally brought in from external source, outside the country, thereby huge foreign earnings. And they have better pay and employment benefits to locals they employ and they pay compensations to locals who might be affected negatively by their business. Nobody pays more than foreign oil companies in nigeria.
Dangote turns PhD holders to drivers and pay them 50k monthly.
His trucks have killed thousands of Nigerians but I haven't heard about him compensating any of the victims.
Trust me, that his refinery he will still pay Nigerians much much lower Than their counterparts in foreign oil companies.
Believe it or not, foreign companies owned by Americans or Europeans will be much more better Than Nigerian owned.
