What you said here will work if it's a demand pull inflation. Nigeria is suffering a cost-push inflation and monetary policy adjustments wont solve this. Just four simple things need to be done to solve this- 1. tackle insecurity(terrorism and banditry), 2. give licences to companies to refine crude locally so as to crash fuel prices, 3. Provide 24/7 power as subsidized costs and 4. Make stiffer laws/punishments for corruption

As a macro economic student.... It will help slow down the inflation as money will be sucked from the system.

It's a contractionary monetary policy that makes less money available for borrowers and people will rather safe there funds than spend it as it guarantees more interest.

But the downside is it slows down investments

You raise interest rates when there’s inflation, to slow down the economy a little bit

In Nigeria’s case, however, people already have low purchasing power, so slowing down the economy will become even more disastrous

Businesses who are already struggling to sell, will borrow at higher interest rates and transfer the cost further to the buyers
But does it mean those that fixed money in savings account will equally have their interest rate on the money increased by the bank I don't get

The steps taking by the CBN so far has made inflation rate slow down. By may, June or July, inflation should start falling

It’s more than 27%. Banks do add some percentage on top when lending. You won’t get any loan below 30%.
And some idiot is busy encouraging MPC increasing interest rate.how can one payback a loan of 30%•how do small scale start up survive?how will business grow if interest rate is at 30%.
Mind u in western countries.it is currently at 6%

As you've said that if raising interest rate is meant to curb inflation, then why then did you said CBN raising interest does not meant well for the populace. That shows your nincompoop character

Bro come on policies are made only on papers and it never ever reflects on the economy and in the life of Nigerians

Watch and see how the naira sinks more aggressively against the dollar, prices of goods and services will go up as usual

What do u expect when the govt would not appoint experienced and seasoned economist as cbn governor. You have already identified the causes of inflation in the country as food production deficiency, then why are u using monetary policies to solve purely fiscal/physical issues. The real sector will suffer more from low demand/sales, high cost of investment which could be around 38% in the coming days.
