Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu has said that issues surrounding the constant collapse of the National grid are being resolved.

The Minister spoke on Friday at the ongoing Ministerial Sectorial Update put together by the Federal Government to offer the Ministers the opportunity to present their scorecards to the Nigerian public after one of the Tinubu administrations..

“You can see that for the past two months now the power grid has not collapsed because we’re also on top of it and we’re trying our best to ensure that we minimise the occurrence of this,”
he said.

“But the permanent solution to grid collapse is to have automated control of the frequency on the grid and the voltage. There’s an application used for that, called Security Control and Data Acquisition, SCADA.

“We’ve been trying this thing for the last 10 to 12 years. But just last week we had intervention from the World Bank.

“They gave us 24 months to conclude the implementation of SCADA and I believe once the World Bank is involved, we’re going to achieve that.

“We now use a locally developed Internet of Things whereby you’re only able to see a portion of the generation and transmission locations while others are not on the network but with SCADA, 100 percent of the locations are going to be on the network,” he added.

It has not collapsed because you guys have increased tarrif. We all know that the collapsed grids used to be faked in other for you to feed our energy quota to other countries that Nigeria supply electricity. So, stop pretending as if there has been an actual collapsed grid.

Adebayo Adelabu could be the best power minister this country has had since the inglorious exit of Professor Barth Nnaji. Tunde Fashola was a big disaster of unparalleled proportions. BTW, Mr Adelabu should encourage more state governors and private investors to get involved and invest in the three arms of the industry. That's how a country grows.

Years ago, I remember one Chinese government official saying that why the United States is ahead of China in space technology is that both the US government and private companies are investing in the industry. That's the way it should be. Development shouldn't be left to the government alone.

Some of us who like being informed, and believe “knowledge is power”, are happy to recieve information the Minister is disseminating.

We really get the leaders we deserve...

Should this come out of the mouth of a sane adult; talk more from a minister of a country?
Is grid collapse a normal occurence in normal climes?
