What was done to Binance executives ?

Their Platform was been used to manipulate the national currency and you expect the government to keep quiet ?

Nations around the world are banning Binance from operating there and you want Nigeria to become their IDP Camp ?

That would not happen

If Total energy invest 10 Billion dollars in Nigeria and we later discover that they are into crude oil theft or other illegal activities, then their executives must face the laws of the land.

Naira has gone back up after the arrest of the executives. Who’s to blame for the rise again?

Customs charge 1500+ per usd as duty fee.

sure. Total have been gaining in Nigeria for more than fifty years. I understand the six billion dollars would have contributed to our economy. But let's continue to retool our government gradually. I personally feel that what the president need to do most are;
1. Stamp out insecurity asap so that farmers all over Nigeria can return to the farm. Unfortunately, politics and religious inclination are posing serious threat to that.
2. Introduce a system of metering oil produced daily, aggressively look for strategies to end oil theft and increase our production to 2m BPD.
3. Remove the fuel subsidy entirely and match that up with constant public updating amount generated and how they were spent.

Then, with the dangote refinery coming on stream by late June, we should be preparing to have good Xmas celebration this year despite the challenges.
Well said....but the dumb govt prefers politics n thinking of 2027 to implementing reasonable policies....if the policy doesn't favour their pocket, they don't bother

That's because they know Nigeria won't take their bulshit anymore. Expect more of that from other rogue companies looking for cheap African countries to prey on.

Both parties APC and PDP are a bunch of crooks. No patriots and no desire to develop Nigeria. Just to loot and mismanage.

No sane business will invest in Nigeria. We could be making more money from oil but it is woefully underdeveloped and we don’t have the funds to do it alone, hence the electricity sector also has not been repaired. They allocate money and then steal most of the funds.

So without good government people with money will not come and invest when crooks are running a country. See what happened at Landmark Beach.

And you believe that Binance is the only adversary of the Naira ?

There are other factors that are contributing to the decline of the Naira.

Ask yourself this...

If Binance is so good, why are nations banning them from operating in their domain.

Binance have increasingly become a platform where the Currencies of a nation can be easily manipulated.

When you are ready to stop deceiving yourself please let us know. Bundling and arresting Binance executives sent a wrong signal to the investment community about Nigeria.

I can see that you are not tired of deceiving yourself.

No wrong signal was sent anywhere.

Real investors with good intentions will invest if they really want to.

No white, Asian or Arab man should come to Nigeria and break our laws.

If they do, they will face the consequences...

The nonsense that they cannot do in America, UK, France or China cannot be accepted in Nigeria.

Oga, so Nigeria is the most important currency in the world that they chose to manipulate right?....and since they stopped manipulating how has naira been?

Seems we don't like truth in this country.

And you believe that Binance was the sole reason that the Naira kept falling ?

There are other factors involved and they should be tackled one after the other.

The number reason for the collapse of the Naira is the Floating of the Naira...

That was a great mistake by Yemi Cardozo.

Nations around the world do peg their national currency at a certain rate in order for them to compete favourably when it comes to international trade.

China did that for many years. And will always do it again if they discover that the Chinese Yuan is affecting imports and exports.

Then there is the activities of Dollar Speculators that normally hoard FX thereby creating an artificial scarcity and will later release it when the Naira have fallen sharply.

That is why you have seen the crackdown on bureau de change operators. If they are not monitored closely, they will destroy the national currency.

They are been asked to recapitalise, so that the bureau de change industry will be sanitised.

There is also the huge demand for FX that is needed by the importers of petroleum products on a monthly basis.

This monthly demand for FX puts pressure on the national currency and until it is met, the Naira will fall.

Until our local refinery starts selling petroleum products in Naira, this demand for FX will always be there.

The dollar will lose value when we stop importing petroleum products.

Then there is the dollarization in different segments of the society.

Why on earth will Nigeria customs be charging for their activities in US dollar ?

Why on earth will schools in Nigeria ask parents to pay in dollars ?

Where will parents get the dollars from ?

Why on earth will real estate agents sell properties in Nigeria and be quoting dollars instead of Naira ?

Until Government kick against this dollarization mentality, more and more pressure will be on the Naira

The factors that are putting pressure on the dollar are much and government needs to be proactive and tackle them head on.

You have highlighted alot of valid points, but the Govt ain't serious....to add to your point, some years back we didn't have the Japa syndrome which didn't pressurize the naira.... Eliminating Japa syndrome is key.....and the key to eliminating it is development, sincere and thoughtful development, not those based on politics.....politics is one of our major problem, especially this current Govt.....if living in Nigeria is bearable, people would not want to leave, therefore Naira wont be pressured.......Making Nigeria liveable is the key.
