West Bromwich Coach Roy Hodgson Blasts Odemwingie by harmeenut: 1:23pm On Nov 24, 2011 |
Dis na hard times for Osaze Roy Hodgson has revealed his annoyance at Peter Odemwingie, saying West Brom have "got nothing out of him" since the striker signed a new deal. The Nigerian striker joined the Baggies in the summer of 2010 and enjoyed a prolific first season with the club, scoring 15 Premier League goals. The 30-year-old was rewarded with a big-money deal in August to ward off reported interest from elsewhere, but he has not been able to replicate last term's form during the early part of the 2011/12 campaign. He has been dogged by fitness problems and is doubtful for Saturday's game against Tottenham due to a knee injury, leaving Hodgson wondering when he will finally flourish. "I'm frustrated because we've got nothing out of him this year," said Hodgson. "He didn't take part in many of the pre-season matches and he hasn't taken part in many of the matches since then. "It's been one problem after another." Odemwingie's latest injury has proved particularly frustrating for Hodgson, who can no longer be sure about the severity of the problem and has questioned his forward's commitment. Hodgson added: "Peter is difficult to work out - you would have to speak to the doctor about him. "This is still the same problem he's had for a month. He was supposed to be fit for the Arsenal game but wasn't. "Then he was definitely going to be fit for the Bolton game but wasn't. "And he is supposed to be fit for the Tottenham game and now there's a doubt about that too. "So I take any optimism with a pinch of salt." The Baggies boss continued: "For a player who we really put so much into in the hope that he would be a major force for staying in the Premier League we have not had much of a return. "What makes it even harder is when you get a player who is frustrated or is frustrating it gets highlighted more when you have players like the Geras, Longs, Reids and the Thomases who play through pain every week." While Shane Long arrived over the summer to increase West Brom's attacking options, Hodgson still believes Odemwingie should be contributing more after accepting such a good contract offer. He added: "When you sign that contract and accept a lot more money following a good season, then you automatically accept that the club thinks you're the man and that can put pressure on you. "Your star players need to be available for selection - the fact someone else might have come in and done well is irrelevant. "There is a hierarchy at every football club." http://football365.com/news/21554/7330346/Hodgson-Has-A-Massive-Pop-At-Odemwingie |

The coach is too harsh on him. He was signed cheaply and did well last season and was rewarded based on that but his performance has been hampered with injury this season. At the same time, for him to come with this damning criticism, it means he's loosing confidence in him. The last four lines of that news were so Uncomplimentary |

And I think osaze's problem is nt on field issues, rather the personality he carries into the field, that his Carris Harris haircut is his problem. Make im come make T.B.JOSHUA pray 4 am. |

I think the coach is too harsh for these comments. He should emulate other coaches like Wenger, Ferguson who always encourage their players. At least he has other players in the same position |

The coach shouldnt forget that it was osaze who helped them escape relegation last season. Its unfortunate he has injury |

something is definitely wrong somewhere. I want to believe he should be criticizing the medical staff and not Osaze unless he thinks he is not really injured and question his commitment because I hardly see a coach criticizing his player for being injured and unavailable. The fact that he collects record 55k for the club seems to annoy the coach. that alone gives pressure and I think Osaze should concentrate on getting back to form and silence his coach. |
Re: West Bromwich Coach Roy Hodgson Blasts Odemwingie by anishe(m): 5:58pm On Nov 24, 2011 |
Are you sure the guy is 30? May be old age is already telling on him. you never can trust Nigerian players. they may have deducted 20 years from his real age. so when he starts having recurring injury, you wonder if at such age, the player should be experiencing such recurring injury |

Hogson just spoke like someone who knows nothing about football, Osazee himself is not enjoying the injury he is suffering and prolly not happy that he is not playing. All he needs now is encouraging words and not the rubbish he just spewed. He shouldnt blame his ineptitude to get desired results on Osazee |
Re: West Bromwich Coach Roy Hodgson Blasts Odemwingie by Myself2(m): 7:16pm On Nov 24, 2011 |
anishe: In as much as Osazee has not been in my good books of late,I think Hodgson should be evaluated psychiatrically for that bunkum he spewed. Secondly,I have to remind you that Osazee was not born in Nigeria and his birth date is well and correctly documented,so dont go there |

Let Osaze too stand up and walk. . . . Afterall, money well paid just be justified. |

Im not surprised and its not harsh but true (if indeed his manager said these things) though he should not have aired his frustration publicly - He's attitude and commitment is perhaps not the best since his former club were willing to sell him off and Siasia fell out with him too. Why oh wny dont Nigerians flourish in soccer like they use to pre 1997. How many Nigerian footballers today can boast of being truly world class? Apart from the Uche boys the rest are average. Ozase should get his act together if this story is true. No excuses at all - play ball and prove you are the best - |

So sorry but don't think a coach wakes up in the Morning and say such things about his player. He sees his players on a daily basis and as a result knows the problem with each and everyone of them. Roy Hodgson is the Man on the Firing line when the team fails not Osaze. Just so sad that this one time humble boy cant stay humble. This was what OSAZE wrote on his twitter account a day after the Nigeria - Guinea Game (MAKE UNA FREE ME JOOR) |

They should give him more time. |
Re: West Bromwich Coach Roy Hodgson Blasts Odemwingie by mbulela: 8:30am On Nov 25, 2011 |
Roy is not a man to speak flippantly. I think the lad has an attitude problem that he needs to sort out himself. this is a case in which there will be only one winner and it is not Osaze. If he throws his toys out of the pram, Roy will be proven right. If he sits up and delivers, Roy would be proven to have given him a kick up his backside. |
Re: West Bromwich Coach Roy Hodgson Blasts Odemwingie by mbulela: 8:31am On Nov 25, 2011 |
okosodo:is that a joke? he just rewarded Osaze with a bumper package in the summer. Is Osaze doing charity work for Roy? |
Re: West Bromwich Coach Roy Hodgson Blasts Odemwingie by mbulela: 8:36am On Nov 25, 2011 |
BCuZiMBlaCk:was that not his job? was he not rewarded with a new contract for that? Arabambi1:that is the crux of his argument. He has consulted the medics and they are not convinced Osaze's case is physical. it is well:if not what? Boko Haram will bomb his house? I beg leave matter. Roy Hodgson has bigger issues to sort out. Osaze should sort himself out. |

i am just waiting to see how osaze will reply his white coach, cos i know if it is a black coach,he would ve been saying rubbish.NONSENSE!!!, pride goes before a fall.Guy i like you before, but now i dont know, anyway SIASIA i love your no nonsense attitude, pls keep it up. |

My interest is, if Osaze will be the man to grab all 3 points out of Spurs on saturday, let him play the game. |
