I came across this interesting piece in wikipedia about the average human height per country in the world, and did a tally of the reported heights from Some African countries. See below:

Nigerian men came out to be the shortest in this list. I find this a little strange - obviously there are issues that undermine the data (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Average_height). And yes, I know it's Wikipedia. But hmm, 

If you look at the source even Chinese, Vietnamese and Mexican men one-upped Nigerians.

TBH, I'm not surprised.
I know a lot of Nigerian men who are shorter than me, and I am not even that tall. I barely escaped the avg height.
When I come on NL to say that Nigerian men are short, I was not trying to be rude. It's just simply fact.

watch our football teams when we play other african countries and you will agree that we are amongst the shortest in africa.

Na lie! I'm 5ft9 and among my friends only few are not above 6ft, I can't remember the last time I saw a Nigerian man that short.

Wikipedia lists their source for Nigeria as a research publication called "Association of waist circumference with risk of hypertension and type 2 diabetes in Nigerians, Jamaicans and African-Americans".

Since the research paper is targeted at a particular study area, the sample population is unlikely to be representative of the full population.

For those believing the statistic, the best comparison I can try to make is of Danny Devito, who is 5ft. The statistic is saying that on average, Nigerian men are only 4.5 inches taller than Danny Devito.

Lack of good nutrition makes affects growth and in Nigerian poverty ravages the majority who cannot afford good food.

The solution is simple.

We must produce more foodstuffs for the poor majority and while waiting for that to happen, all short men MUST STOP dating our girls and women and simply pass them on to tall and heroic looking men like Orikinla (6 ft 3 in). ,
