You see what Boko Haram and all the bombings and killings in the Northern parts of Nigeria in recent times have caused? Oyibo entertainers are refusing to come to this country for any show. They are going to other African countries but have vehemently refused to come here, especially after they were warned by their country to stay away from Nigeria, in the meantime. A few major shows in Nigeria have had to be cancelled because of this. R.Kelly, Ludacris, Keri Hilson were invited to perform at three different shows this December and they all turned it down. It's not like it's major issue but it's just not a good image for us,

Hopefully the killings and bombings will stop, and there will be peace again in our land,

Re: Us Entertainers Refuse To Come To Nigeria by aloyemeka1: 12:26pm On Dec 01, 2011
It matters because investors will follow suit and stop coming to Nigeria and that's jobs down the drain. I called 1800[Lenovo] number the other day and someone picked up from Ghana and I started crying because another person told me that Ghana has gained over 20k American jobs in 2011 alone. American companies do not ship jobs to only China and India now. They've changed gear to Ghana and Kenya. When you have companies like Apple, Microsoft, HP, Dell, etc looking towards Ghana for their customer service instead of Nigeria, you may need to rethink your stance on Boko Haram.

Very stupid post indeed cry The job lagos has created b/w 2010 to 2011 is twice what Ghana would have created in the same period! Jobs are being created in Nigeria, and vast majority are in the private sector which is what Nigeria really needs. The problem we have is the pace at which jobs are being created is slow compared to the rate at which graduates/job hunters are coming through!

@topic! Whats the point of bringing in foreign entertainers when we have Nigeria stars that can rock the party? In fact recently, alot of the foreign entertainers they bring over end up complementing the works of our home grown when they go on stage to perform! Did you see the MTN project fame with Brenda/D' banj?

I can't believe we still have ignorant people such as you alive. Tell me one perfect country in this world where there's no suffering or poverty. Its people like you that condemn GEJ for investing in the Nollywood industry, why, because the average Nigerian is hungry. Come on don't be narrow minded

Re: Us Entertainers Refuse To Come To Nigeria by MyVicky: 3:42pm On Dec 01, 2011
The issue here isn't the refusal to come to Nigeria but the very reason(s) underpinning such refusal. As a nation, we should strategically and systematically address those issues. Issues such as security, integrity, corruption, militancy and so on. The govt should for once give 100% consideration to issues such as true federalism, resource control, state police system, power& energy, infrastructures, unemployment, education, truely autonomous institutions of higher learning, sound healthcare delivery system, well being of the citizenry and so on, How I wish I didn't type in vain; I know the govt will not see it but they ain't new to the govt only that the govt has decided to plug his ears with wool (or rather coconut cos wool is still penetrate-able by sound), I know Nigeria will not remain in this deplorable and pitiable situation forever but the big question is,''When is Nigeria's year of true freedom!?
