This is one of the reasons why Jonathan is not a leader but an excellent follower and will always be.
This is his administration, he needs to pay more attention and connect broadly with the people of this nation.

First, I hate Okada operation in Nigeria just like any other decent Nigerian. They will turn a day old car into a 10 yrs old within a matter of 1 week. They are not only useless group of people, but also a bunch of motherFather. A group of goats is better than this bunch.
However, this group of Okada operatives still deserve respect from Nigerians and Nigerian government . No matter how we see it, they are still making ends meet and providing for their various families.
They are not stealing government money or point blank redirecting tax money into their various foreign bank accounts. They are simply trying to survive in a country where the poor is invisible.

Okada is not the problem, our system, our government and our ret@rded leaders are the problems in this country. And we should all continue to pray for the God to come down and rescue this nation from the hands of these enemies of progress.

There wouldn't be a need for Okada if there were enough jobs out there, if the roads were good enough, or if an average citizen was making enough to freely move around.

Banning Okada without providing alternatives for the operatives and the citizens, will not only affect Okada operatives and their families. It will also affect those of us that are not making enough money to take a regular bus or taxi to work or to school. Which means, many will loss their jobs and businesses will also be affected.
Very soon majority of these Okada operatives will be walking around with nothing to do. Please do not be surprised when these people start knocking on your doors in the middle of night or stealing batteries and tires from your vehicles.

This government is senseless, incompetent and hopeless.
They are quick to deal with poor and powerless citizens while they struggle to lock-up people like Gbenga Daniel, Alao Akala and many others lowlife that got us here in the first place.

Mr. Goodluck Jonathan, our problem is not the Okada, but you and your other highway rubbers politicians.

Big mistake!
Especially with those kinds of Nigerian roads.
If the goverment does not want Okadas. . . let them fix the roads.
Not everyone wants to be stuck in traffic all over Nigeria without alternatives.
ESPECIALLY IN A PLACE LIKE NIGERIA. kiss
Even China has OKADAS.
ShiiiiiiiYOOOOOR!!!!

Banning Okadas is the right thing to do. Most of the Okada riders do not obey traffic laws and ride recklessly, many times against the flow of traffic with disobedience of traffic lights and road signals. Hundreds of accidents with lost of lives have occurred as a result of okada riders riding against traffic.

Banning all the politicians/leaders is the right thing to do. Most of them do not obey our constitutions and recklessly steal our money. Most of the time they steal with disobedience of the laws. Millions of people die every single year as a result of leader leading this nation recklessly.

What about that, @Horus?

Where is the priority here? Who is fooling who?

Depilot cheesy . . .But the ban applies to a particular type of engine na . .not a blanket ban per se . . .
Re: Banning Okada By Federal Government Is A Very Big Mistake by Depilot(m): 1:25am On Dec 03, 2011
It doesn't matter.
If you're banning anything that is serving people as a source of income without alternatives, you're asking for trouble.
If this administration is sensible enough, they should have first provided alternative courses of action to choose.

This action will not work, but only create more trouble for this country.

The leaders will never know what an average citizen goes thru to survive.
Why?
These people and their families/friends do not use Okada to move around. In fact, the roads are cleared for them by godogodo to pass thru whenever they are not flying; so, they don't give a sh11t.

He knew quite well that his output cannot feed all the Ota environ,
yet he placed a ban on the thing entering the whole country.

This clearly portrays Jonathan's claim as "having no shoes", "I am one of you", "I will never let you down" as being nothing but lies pouring out of the mouth of the President.

Firstly, Okada is not a problem in every city and town in Nigeria the way it is in Lagos and other major cities like Enugu, Portharcourt etc. For intanse, in places like Ijebu-Igbo, Ago-iwoye, Aiyepe in Ogun-state, Ikenne. Okada is not a problem at all. Why? Because the arears population desities are very low. And I'm sure you will find uncountable townships throughout the lenght and breath of the Northern, Southern and Eastern states which are same. So what kind of thoughtless goverment comes with such a policy of a nation-wide ban, when where the problem is really critical are the high-population-density cities.

Secondly, why does the goverment always want a quick-fix to problems instead of going about it the right way? If GEJ's administration is apalled by the operation of Okada, the sensible thing a leader(and also Administration) who is intelligent and responsible should do his embark on a mission of improving the transportation system so much (good motorable roads, a public or private-owner transport system with proper guidelines petaining to fair fare-rates [make policies which outlaws agbero] and other practices. Do this and the profileration of Okada will gradually automatically fade away because their patronage will decline sharply, even to the point of collaspe. But it will be gradual and people engaged in this sector gradually exit and be engaged in other means of ilvelihood. Ofcourse, Okada will still remain in townships and villages where they are really needed.

This pronoucement show that GEJ and his Administration are totally disconnect with the poor masses and have no emphaty for them at all. GEJ and his brainless advisers completely live in a world of their own.

Accoding to GEJ campeign promises, he should be the voice of emphathy and justice: speaking for people who cannot speak for themselves, fighting for cause of the poor masses who cannot fight for themselves.

But unfourtunately, all his anti-people-policies so far shows that rather than fight for the masses, he has joined forces with the evil & selfish [political & business] elites to fight against them.

People that championed and voted for GEJ ought to be truly feel ashamed of him.

Our leaders are not only senseless and selfish, but also completely incompetent.
The duties of leaders is to work together toward making the country and the citizens stronger in all angles. Nigerian leaders are only making themselves richer while they continue to kill the nation.
There is no process, no vision, no commitment and hope is dissolving by minute.
