Do You Pay N30,000 To The Nigeiran Fire Service For "fire Report"? by Acelifted: 2:08pm On Dec 05, 2011
Someone very close to me suffered loss in a fire incidence. In order to get her certificates back, she went to the fire service for a "Fire Report". And they asked her to pay N30,000 for it. N30,000 from someone who has just suffered loss of her entire belonging? including original copies of her credentials? Is that how it is done? is it a normal charge? Do you have any ideas please? This is mind bugging.

Never heard of that.such a moribund partastatal in some states. I tink it depends on de city ur friend resides maybe if there's effective f.s . A court affidavit 4 loss of properties thru fire in my state does not require a f.s report sha

This happened in the federal capital territory - Abuja. The fire service actually came to put the fire off, even though they came terribly late, when all damage has been done and completed by the inferno. but don't you think that even the courts will require an official doc from the fire service?

The official doc is called Incident report and is required for insurance purposes etc. This should be free.

What do we do to get this document? does that mean we have to cough out this N30,000 they are asking for? can we ever do anything right in this country? do you advise we get a lawyer involved? can a lawyer even stand this force of corruption without caving in?

Any advice will help. We really need to get these credentials.

According to Subnational Doing Business, in 32 states, construction companies must obtain one or more certificates before applying for a building permit. These certificates might include an environmental impact assessment, a land use clearance, which verifies that the project is consistent with the local master plan, a site analysis report, a fire safety report, and other types of authorizations. In the remaining five states (Jigawa, Kwara, Kano, Benue, and Sokoto), no such preliminary approvals
are needed for simple structures with low environmental impact, such as a warehouse storing books.

A fire report in Kaduna (KD) costs N16,000.
It takes 8 days to obtain a fire report which costs N20,000 In Delta state.

Does this also apply persons who personal belpongings got burnt in a fire and is just trying to get a fire report to facilitate the re-acquisition of his or her certificates?

Or is there another name it is called (may be not fire report)?

Before you go "Public", ensure you get the "facts" in your hand.

Get a "recorded video or Audio" of this monetary request!
Yes, tape the or they would deny afterwards!

You might need the report but l am yet to see anywhere it is written that you should pay 30K to obtain one, its just another scam by a public official.

In your "Tape" mention his/her name and ensure he/she is well committed, in the recording.

The, you can petition EFCC or even the Minister in charge of that area of govt, using your lawyer.

Whoever is demanding for that money gets fired, gets prosecuted and you get your document at the govt approved price, if there was one. wink

Be careful sha, as you go along, take caution.
