About N2.3 billon has been earmarked by Ondo State Government
forthe construction of a Trauma Centre in Ondo Town, in order
to provide timely and qualitative emergency medical services for
accident victims and other patients.
The Trauma centre, the construction of which has reached an
advanced stage, when completed would be equipped with
accident and emergency unit, information and call centre,
mortuary and doctors and Alaanu Hostels.
Governor Olusegun Mimiko gave details about the centre at the
opening of a three-day training workshop for health personnel
preparatory to the take-off of the Emergency Medical Services
(EMS) programme in the state.
Mimiko, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr Kola
Ademujimi, said to ensure the timely completion of the project
located on Laje Road, Ondo, the contractor handling the project
had been adequately mobilised.
He said the rampant cases of road accidents in the country posed
a great threat to the socio-economic development of the nation
because most of the victims were within the productive class,
who ought to contribute to the economic growth of the country.
