TONY ITA ETIM, Enugu
Senate President David Mark yesterday said Ndigbo, and others clamouring for the creation of more states, should be hopeful, as more states would be created.

Mark said this at a civic reception organized by the people of Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu State in honour of their son and chairman of the Senate Committee on Works, Ayogu Eze.

Mark noted that he supports the struggle of Nsukka people for the creation of Adada State out of the present Enugu State.

He said if there was any state he wished to be created in South East it was Adada State.

He said Eze with his colleagues at the Senate had played significant role in his success at the leadership of the national assembly.

He called for the return for a third term of Eze to the National Assembly in 2015 and declared that if Senator Eze is given another chance, he was optimistic that he would work harder towards the alleviation of his people.

He said: "Ayogu Eze is a ranking Senator making him chairman of a committee both in his first and second tenure at the senate. It is not for a beginner. This is not the time to talk politics or campaign but Eze is a distinguished Senator who should be given a third chance to the senate", he stressed.

"I feel like a part with the people of this Enugu North Senatorial Zone having a common boundary with them. I sincerely express my profound gratitude to the Enugu State Senators and the people at large", he added.

In his remarks, the governor of Enugu State, Sullivan Chime said he was overwhelmed by the large turn out of people to the venue of the reception especially at the yuletide period.

Chime pointed out that Senator Eze during his first tenure at the national assembly attracted Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) and Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) to Nsukka and Udi all in Enugu State.

The governor thanked the people of Igboeze North Local Government Area for voting for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates during the last local government polls, adding that his regime would continue to provide democracy dividends to the people.

In his response, Senator Eze said he was surprised at the reception, stressing that he was overwhelmed by the large crowd he had seen at the venue.

He commended the local government chairman, Honourable Chijioke Ugwu and his team for the civic reception, noting the local government boss had performed creditably in development of infrastructure such as roads, water, health, and electricity.

He said it was the footsteps of Governor Chime that they were following, remarking that the governor had given every body an enabling environment to excel.

"The governor has performed creditably. Everybody has done marvelously. At a time like this it is good for another person to praise you than for you to praise yourself. We fell highly encouraged to do more", he added.

Earlier, the out-going Chairman of the Igboeze North Local Government Area, Honourable Ugwu said the successes of Senator Eze would not have been possible without the support, mentoring and exemplary leadership style of Governor Chime.

He said Chime within a period of fours years totally transformed Enugu State to economic, social and political nerve of the Southeast geo-political zone.

"I welcome you all once to Enugu North senatorial District, a zone eagerly yearning to be elevated to new state considering its huge human capital, agricultural potential and natural resources, our people shall ever be proud of you, if our dream of new state becomes your legacies", he noted.

Among top dignitaries who graced the occasion were former Senate President, Chief Ken Nnamani, Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu; Senator Gil Nnaji, Deputy Governor of Anambra, Emeka Sipodu, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division, Nigerian Army, Enugu,Major-General Sunday Idoko and Deputy Governor, Enugu State, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi.

The agitation for Adada state from Enugu is one of the oldest in Nigeria. May be it is time to grant them their wish.

The clamor for Adada state is a selfish and senseless one. In fact, both Apapa and Adada are states being created to possibly make the sanate pres and vice pres governors of those states respectively.

So they want Adada state but what's with the name?

They should put this Adada state creation on hold temporarily and concentrate on creating the other 'Equity' state. The idea of 'Equity' state sounds better and should also unite the SE more
