Hey , Sin takes one to hell. Not believing in Jesus christ is a SIN in itself. It means , all his efforts of dying for us on the cross of calvary to take away our sins , is a waste to you and its punishable.

So either way you put it, Sin is what takes man to hell and refusing to believe in the death of Jesus Christ is one.

What do you mean by someone's last state before death? Once you are saved, you are forever saved. For God so lived the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life
