Depending on bank, you also require a bank deposit. Lowest I've seen is 10,000CFA and one document called IFU (still don't know how to get that).

@Kenox, please any idea on cost of residence permit and how to get it over there?[/quote]

I wanna run a post graduate program in a school in Cotonou starting in January, do I need to have an international passport before I can travel and school in Cotonou?

Because I’ve applied for passport since and it’s not yet out due to shortage of passport booklets in immigration, and my school program is starting soon

You do need your passport as an international student in Rep of Benin cos the school will have to get you documented with the authorities. The ECOWAS treaty only permits you to visit and stay for only 90 days at a time so a temporary resident permit will be processed for you by the school admin and that can only be done with your duly stamped passport.

But I have someone here who did a BsC program in Cotonou and he didn’t have his international passport when he started schooling, but processed it when he was in his 3rd year

So for 2 years he said he was using his school ID card to cross the border.

I don’t know if he’s lying or telling the truth, but is it possible?

Do as it pleases you sir, the problem with we Nigerians is that when one person gets lucky under running the system, lots follow suit and then end up bringing the consequences on the large citizenry.
FYI, you can always cross the border without any ID. but as a graduate student, what if you are to make a trip outside Benin, excursion or even need to go get data and info for academic purpose...... Mind you, countries are getting more hostile against Nigerians everyday since your qovt refuse to have sense. What played out in Benin 2years ago isn't same as we speak cos your govt is dumb regarding diplomacy. All the best sir

Understood sir!

By duly stamped passport, you mean passport that is both Stamped entry and exit stamps by Nigerian immigration and Benin Immigration? Or only the latter

Funny how random persons demand I paste my contact number here as if I am an agent in Benin Republic. My experience with helping persons from nairaland to get settled in other west African countries almost cost me my career. Once bitten is twice shy..... I will keep dropping tips at my disposal for easy passage and settling down here for anyone that ask.
