Nigerian Girl In Love With Ghanian, More Info In Details Please Read by Owugal(f): 9:36pm On Oct 08, 2007
I am an Owu girl. in case you are not Egba you may not know what Owu is etc. Anyways, I am in love and dating a Ghanian. I think he loves me too cos the other day he asked me to marry him but I said "what" so many times, he thought I did not want to. Nways my question is What can I expect from a Ghanaian guy if I were to marry him. Any girls with similar experience?  Also , he makes soooooo much more money than I do, but I have a better education than him. I am pursuing a masters. His English worries me. I love him, but My family is soo highly educated, that me with my masters degree is the least degree anyone for three generations in my family is getting. I mean MY grandad had a masters and he set up  one of the first metereological station in Nigeria. So what do I do? I am afraid of taking him home to mom and pop in case they think he is not educated. He is so sweet. He has class. A good head on his shoulders. Smart Funny, crazy and ambitious. owns his own bussiness and his own house. Yet, I am afraid. Cos he's a Mechanic. not  like Nigerian Mechanic though. He has people working for him and all that. what do I do. I am scared of facing my parents with him. Yet I love him and think its time to introduce him.

Makes more than you with his mechanic job
You have a better degree or whatever (pray tell the relevance)
Your grandpa made a meteorological station ----- hmmmm!!!

from the land beyond beyond. . .

What's the issue? His job? His english? He's supposedly 'lesser' education?
Your family? Yourself? Your different cultures? undecided undecided

just take him to meet your parents first and see if they like him, if they do, than you know what to do. if they don't like him than try to convince them and if they still don't like him, make the decision as to what is important, him or your family.

owu girl

hey i used ot date a ghanian guy as well, hmm they have a lot of qualities that shamefully our naija brothers lack. anyway back to your problem, maybe u can talk to him about going to school. whether or not he speaks proper english, if u introduce him to your parents adn then mention to them that he plans to start school soonn, it will be a lot easier for them to accept than if he had no plans for his future education, regardless of his annuall salary. America is a funny place because i have naija girlfriends who only want to marry nigerians but its hard for them to find a reasonable one. Personally im not krazy about marrying nigerian men so i dont particularly have that problem. Some people luck out adn find a man who is from their tribe as well. But for me my fiance is from edo adn im igbo, adn i have never met an igbo man who is half the person he is. Funny thing is i know a lot of igbo guys who are interested in me. SO like i said, not every one gets to marry a nigerian or more someone from their tribe. I wish u the best of luck.
