@mami,
Yor post below shows your weak mental reasoning ability.

They said he is too weak. Now they complain he is a bully. GEJ should declare a state of emergency in Lagos and give soldiers a shoot at sight order jor!

A president that cried that he could not handle terrorist and yet deployed full soldiers on the street is a full weakling.

Barak Obama no be president like am, after all he compares USA to Nigeria when he wants to chop our money via subsidy.

Now, i know why security budget is 1 trillion naira. He dey settle soldiers with our money. Everything for him is settlement, thats why he don finish our money so, dey find more.

Criminals killing soldiers and police because they prevented from stealing oil is totally different from deploying soldiers to kill people thay oppose your policy. If you get beef with obj,go and see him yourself.

Why didn't your brother Obj track down the criminals? Instead he opted to wickedly clear a whole town including women and children. Now you're asking me to go see Obj. But for you it's of no consequence because he's your brother. I trust that if GEJ is a Yoruba man, all these useless self centered noise in Lagos won't be the case. And if he was hausa man, there wont be boko haram. There's no Nigerian as corrupt as obj, but he comfortably ruled for 8 years and massively wasted country resources seeking for illegal third term. Then there was no need to occupy Nigeria. Hypocritical tribalists!!!!!!

The government that is expected to be communicative has chosen the option of forcing the citizen to accept its policy. This country is not safe at all, Its a petty.

Yoruba are one of the most detrabilsed race in Nigeria in 1999 they did not support OBJ they stood against him up till tomorrow. Oshiomole fought him to a stand still on issue of fuel increment. GEJ is a confused person and he has terrible advisers who are telling him lies

Tribal this, Tribal that.

All I saw was everyone in unity.  Fuel, Food, Jobs, are more important than wasting time arguing about tribe shitz, God didn't make any tribe bigger or better than the next, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE to do that, so why does man even think that they can do what God has not  Mankind is the only tribe God even sees.

Waste of precious time and resources constantly pointing out bullshitz.  Ignoramus's the lot.

quite a shame to see protesters scampering for safety due to millitary gunshots. I thought with all their useless noise making they were ready to die for their so called just cause. Jonathan stood his ground by not yielding to your nonsense 65 naira but you couldnt stand your ground to resist millitary gunshots. Shame! Shame and shame. Protesters indeed.

Does it not surprise you that nigerians in the 21st century still reason like this?Ethnicity and tribalism still runs tru our blood stream?
The discourse is always shifted from the OT and silly ethnic arguments always spring up on N/L?
Re: Soldiers Shoot To Disperse 'occupy' Protesters In Lagos by lakecity: 8:26pm On Jan 16, 2012
It is a pity! Human beings forget things easily. The same protest by the same set of people (Bakare & Co) made Mr. President whatever he is today. He was helpless then. SNG came out to protest. He is today against the same type of peaceful protest that made him the Acting President and eventually the President. He has succeeded in imposing the new price on Nigerians. Nigerians seem to be helpless now because the NLC and TUC failed us.  I know the country is in a mess today because Mr. President was desperate to become the President. They squandered the resources of the country. Unfortunately, some of us are paying for what we did not eat. He should have a change of mind. He is not on the right path.

I know, but we ALL have loved ones, FRIENDS, FAMILY, that are from all ethnicities, our loved ones are no more important than their loved ones.  They are just as important.  To encourage shooting people for no reason but that they were born into a family??   That is complete bullshyt

Focus on the damn issues, if race and tribe is brought into this, it would be catastrophic, I will  curse their rotten souls to hades I promise, let one hair on his Yoruba head be missing, it will be taken to another level all together.

Certain comments here show the level of beastiality and unreasonability and unpardonable tribalism of some uncouth illiterates. Was it just one tribe that protested all over lagos? Its like some people refuse to think with their heads. How on earth is anyone tribalising the poor leadership shown by Jonathan and his cronies. He is weak towards Boko Haram that is likely to divide this country but rather turn the gun against innocent poor masses protesting for a better condition of living. What manner of leader is this man? They pass fuel burden to the already suffering masses and he and the cabal continue to enjoy life at the expense of all of us. Is Nigeria an animal farm? I am ashamed of some of the comments here.

Money! Money!! Money!!! Money!!!!, what is the problem with all our leaders with people's money? GEJ and all his cronies and all his party member are just bunch of liars not to be trusted again. How can GEJ be bringing soldiers to the same people that supported him to get to the Aso Rock just because they are protesting for their rights? He has definitely lost it this time, history will judge him with time. Shoesless man.

It is so sad that in a democratic system of government the president of the federal republic of Nigeria have decided to show the world that indeed our 13years of democracy is questionable except if democracy has been redefined, protesters in Lagos where protesting peacefully,so why would president Jonathan deploy soldiers to Lagos when there was no state of emergency declared, Boko haram harassed his government with sleepless nights and it took the president months to deploy soldiers to immediately tackle the a sect that was bombing churches, and a sect that even bombed the building of the united nations and a sect that have killed so many police men and civilians, but it took mr president just 6days to deploy soldiers to battle armless protesters . Are we in military regime? I hereby also call for immediate withdrawal of the soldiers deployed to Lagos if really we are in democracy where sovereignty belongs to the people.

Lets reason together please:

*If you say the Soldiers should kill all protesters in Lagos because they are Yoruba, did it not occur to you that Igbos and Hausas are well represented in Lagos as well and just a few of them might be your family members?

*Is it only in Lagos that fuel price has been hiked? Will the people of Eastern and Northern Nigeria not benefit from what the "people of Lagos" are dying for? Do you insult their selfless sacrifice by uttering all these tribal bigotry, even when you yourself cannot lift a finger to change your "miserable state of affairs"?

*If Jonathan succeeds in using Soldiers to silence the people of Lagos, for protesting legitimately, who do you think WILL BE NEXT when the vocal and enlightened people of Lagos have been silenced? Your own Village would be next of-course! wink

*If instead of coming together to fight evil and oppression, you hide under your "cloak of vengeance and revenge" for what OBJ did in Oodi or for what Gowon/Awolowo did in Biafra or what Boko Haram did in the North, who then will support your own aspirations, when you begin to agitate for it or has it never occurred to you that NOT ONE SINGLE TRIBE can go it alone in the present Nigerian set-up? Not Oodua, Not Biafra and definitely not Arewa (The other two will simply gang-up and the third one is mince-meat; that explains part of what happened in Biafra, doesn't it?

*Because the "oppressor clique" knows how bigoted and foolish you all are, they play you against one another, knowing fully that once you unite and find your voice, they are finished!

For 51years, the story is always the same (in-fighting, ethnicity, tribal and religious bigotry) AND THE RESULT HAS ALWAYS AND WILL CONTINUE TO BE THE SAME: MORE OPPRESSION from the "clique", MORE POVERTY FOR THE AVERAGE JOE BLOGGS!

Think, my people, THINK TWICE before you write that crap that is in your head.

I don talk my own o!

Now, I seriously regret joining the Save Nigeria Group (SNG) protest in 2010 to fight against president (Madam) Turai Yaradua and the cabals in order for this M**********r to become our acting president. The same set of people that fought for him and risked their lives, are now seen as his number one enemies. They are now been molested, harrassed and intimidated by the zombies. SMH undecided

The rise in the pump price is painful, but it is not an excuse to take to lawless and treasonable actions to assuage your pain.
For those mentioning boko haram, you aught to be deeply ashamed of yourselves. In all the time boko haram has murdered people, how many of you cared to demonstrate? The lives of fellow Nigerians mean nothing to us as long as our bellies are full.
Boko haram has challenged the govt and that has resulted in the army overrunning the NE; if you challenge the govt like boko haram, what do you expect? Not the same army?

The people got exactly what they deserved.
We need to learn civilised ways of communicating; it is a skill the average Nigerian lacks; as an example, on the streets, the rich freely rain slaps on the poor for the tiniest slight. Even here on NL, when people cannot counter your arguments, they resort to insults and curses; that is exactly what was projected in the protests, with threats of assassination, insults, lies and ethnic jibes flowing relentlessly. Even the foreign press was filled with alarming stories of impending breakup. Why do we project ourselves in such dysmal light?
Nigerians need to learn civilised ways.

Fellow Citizens,

Lets neglect comments of our beloved brothers and sisters from the east and south south- Their comments is a type of corruption in itself called nepotism - i.e. giving unmerited favour to your kinsman at ALL COST when he least deserves it. OBJ did not win election even in his ward in south west in 1999 but we delivered the west to Jonathan in 2011. We are civilized people without sentiment. We protested against some people called cabals to make sure Jonathan was confirmed acting president. No sentiment

Where was SS/SE when we protested against the CABALs who failed to make Jonathan the substantive acting president when Yar adua was sick? Did they join in the protest? No. Where were they when we protested against Abacha and IBB? Where were they when we protested against OBJ on fuel subsidy led by Oshiomole? Where were they when we protested against the annulment of June 12 election. Where were they when The Ganis, Kutis, Falanas, alfreds, faseuns, Adesanyas e.tc were laying their lives to make Our President beneficiary of the struggles he knows little about. The history of civil protest in Nigeria has also been without them because they are educationally disadvantage, they cannot protest for or against what they don't even understand.

Jonathan came to Lagos and danced before us like a beggar pleading for our votes, he danced to the same music we played at Gani-Fawehinmi park we trusted him and voted him, even OBJ did not get that kind of support. Now we did the same thing and people who now claim to be his brother are angry, Jona himself is angry. Why are you angry? What kind of people would call a fellow man Monkey? We understand the average psyche of anyone from the east, you got admitted to our universities with 5 ordinary passes because we recognised you are educational disadvantage and we don't expect much sense from you.

If you can relate well with your environment, you would agree that the protest was avoidable, if Our President (Not Ijaw or Ibo President) respect the constitution he swore to uphold. The National Assemble - Who were the representative of the people convened on an usual day -Sunday- and spoke with one voice that he should revert back to 65 Naira. But he declined. When the President violate the principle of democracy and disrespect the peoples reepresentatives he gets what he deserves-Peaceful protest.Respect is reciprocal.

Should a man who lives on the bank of the river wash his hand with spittle? - An Ibo Proverb
Should a man bite the finger that fed him? An Ibo Proverbs
Is it not greed that makes an hunter who killed an elephant to still want to hunt for rats on his way home?

While I agree that it is never right to Kill another man for any reason like the Boko-Haram sect, It is the act of oppression through military force like the ones deployed to forestall peaceful protest in Gani Fawehinmi Park that might have been responsible for the creation of such sect. Your sect in south south (Kidnappers) and SE (otokoto) was the result of similar neglect. Yar-Adua was responsible enough to listen to you, bring you out of the creeks and send you to school so that you behave like responsible people. Because he listened he even appointed - Jonathan as his running mate. Let Our President - Not Ijaw or SS or SE President listen to us and we would have a better Nigeria.

I have said petrol would be sold for N100 in one of my post, and now FG said N97 per litre. When have we last spent 5 kobo or N1 note or coins.  The fact still remains that fuel is ironically N100 per litre unless u intentionally buy N100 so that the petrol attendant doesn't keep your change.

Next on the line
We should be fighting for "No money for Petrol exKeg either 25 or N50" as demanded by petrol attendants.
