What allocation? They get a pittance, and have always gotten a pittance. The govt simply can't afford to spend big money to make NTA what you think it should be.

Go and see how much FOX NEWS has to spend each year, and compare it to your 'NTA allocation'. You'll be embarrassed.

Abeg forget. The govt priorities are roads, schools, hospitals etc, not NTA.

Why is govt even SUPPOSED to have expertise in running a TV station??

It's really not their job.

If you want 'CNN-LEVEL', do what those who started CNN did. IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH GOVT.

It's Private Sector.

Personnel Cost (Salaries): ₦9.48 billion
Allowances and Social Distributions: ₦7.35 billion

Contextual Information:
Historical Funding: In the 10 years prior to 2021, the federal government invested a total of ₦67 billion into NTA, with a significant portion going toward personnel costs.
2020 Allocation: In 2020, NTA received ₦6.6 billion, with ₦6.1 billion for personnel and only ₦303.8 million for capital projects.
Comparison: In 2025, NTA, alongside the National Orientation Agency (NOA - ₦24.4 billion) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN - ₦21.5 billion), accounted for over 60% of the total budget for the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.
so only you did not hear that out of Nigeria's 2025 budget, only zero naira was disbursed? Why did Tinubu fire the economy minister earlier this week?

Looking at other TV stations' look, you'll spit on Nigeria Government. Everything is just so messy and embarrassing. I compared the studio with other private stations and i realized this country is gone and has no hope.
there's hope, just vote in the right people and say no to tribalism and corruption

Its okay to close up

Throwback:
While I am surprised that a studio could look like that, then I am no longer surprised when a paltry N137m is for studio equipment for states capital stations in the whole country.

Ask yourself if N137m is enough for even 1 state capital station?

It means every state capital station of NTA must depend on their own share of the N137m to procure or upgrade existing studio. Hence why you have such obvious makeshift studio.

That is nonsense.

Will the government commit more money to such when it is yet to better fund Healthcare and other infrastructural projects? No!

The respective states NTA stations should pursue IGR from its advert slots and programme slots.
how will the advert come when most of the stations are off-air due to lack of maintenance

Tell us the annual budget of those countries you listed. Japan, France, UK, South Korea, India, etc.

Should I list their annual budgets and compare it to Nigeria's own? wink

Should I embarras you?

How will a TV network with 36 stations have adequate "maintenance" on $15 million a year?

Stop talking like a slowpoke...

Must all stations receive the annual bugjet of CNN and those countries listed before they present and operate a functional and presentable studio/station?

The small private stations in Nigeria operating presentable services and functioning better do they have bigger annual budgets than nta?

Some of you are so annoying with your arguments just because you close your eyes to blindly support nonsense.

Good luck with that anyway. After all its your sense and your life. If you like don't use it!

it's either me and you are on the same page or I did not understand your initial post. All I mean is that Nigerian government lacks maintenance culture generally

I work with a federal government broadcast outfit. The outfit was established in 2005. Till today, March 2026,it has not enjoyed any maintenance by the Federal government that established it. We the staff contribute money from our meager salary to buy diesel, repair the gen set just to keep the station running.

Since 2005 your federal government broadcast outfit can not generate funds to fuel it's generator? undecided

It's beyond embarrassing. And very unfortunate. The thing is people feel that mediocrity and corruption affects the simple masses on the streets, but the thing is that mediocrity seeps into everything we do. As it is, Nigeria has no defense systems and nothing to show for it's oil wealth. If you trace the reasons why, mediocrity and corruption is at the foundation of that. We have nothing. We are just sitting ducks for when the west realises they have the power to wipe us all out and take what they need.
This is green screen. That's not how it will appear on ur TV. The editor will change the background. Some of the movies you watch were actually made with such background

Most Nigerians have this idea that govt is where the money is at.

They are so wrong. Nigeria's annual budget is $40 billion.

But GDP is $400 billion. wink

That's the Private Sector.

Oil and gas accounts for less than 15% of GDP.

So those hundreds of billions of dollars is all private sector-generated. So the private sector is WHERE THE MONEY IS AT, if you want to form a CNN-grade network, or anything big, in fact, in Nigeria.

If you can leverage the private sector by forming a consortium with qualified people, and you can make a business case for such a station to big companies, it's BOOM TIME! Big money comes in, and you do it.

Go to America, UK etc. Virtually nothing is run by the govt. It's all private sector, from stadiums to airports to power plants to railways to TV networks.

We call ourselves a capitalist economy, yet we seem to have a communist/socialist outlook in which the FG is expected to provide everything. undecided
How much do you think will fix this useless studio. Stop making excuses
