Island or mainland? ? ?

The cost of a house in Island should be roughly +50 to 70 million naira of thesame house in mainland IMO. So those houses are highly under priced going by Nigerian mentalility.

Did you watch a documentary on CNN about Akiku's 3.5 million dollars(500 million naira) mansion in Asokoro Abuja?. Very ridiculous amount for that mansion. I try rationalizing the factors behind the high cost of land in some part of Nigeria, but couldn't come up with anything other than our typical mentality of "I dey live for maitama or I get house for VGC and all that)

very depressing to see a sharp contrast of living standard in a country that most of her citizens are living below 2 dollars per day.

are you sure a $450,000 house would have a private movie theatre.

seems more like a $1-$5 million house imo, unless the mortgage crisis reduced the price to that extent.

i know that might be possible in california- not sure about texas.

I was just trying to put in my 2 cents. Bulding house can be relatively cheap in naija depending on the area and location even when the materials are imported. Most houses constructed in Lagos and Abuja are relatively cheap (ranging from 15-20 million actual building cost). In abuja for instance, a 20 million naira house in Nyanya would cost you 350 million at maitama. A blank plot of land at the location of the said house the OP is marketing should go for like 45-55 million naira, depending on the size. So the house per say is not the determining factor of the final cost.

Most architectural finishing in naija are not great maste-piece and are mostly very very unhabitable comparing with houses in western worldl. IMO

check the house Sam Egwu(fromer governor) bought from Buba Gyang(former customs boss) in Abuja @ 870 million . The design was so aweful and way below what that amount could offer.


I don't know why plot/s of land are very expensive in those areas sha. May be its just the hypes.

After watching the Sylva nonsense a couple of years ago where he showed off a Roman-Style Colosseum structure as part of Government project, I gave up on such programs.

See all these people complaining. This is the crazy situation we have to face here in Abuja, perhaps now my concern about that World Bank Desk that GEJ was planning to set up which will block funding for my mansion in Maitama will be properly appreciated.

Yes, those ones. I know the bars are meant to keep out armed bandits but they kinda make the house look weird. Why would I want to live in a house that has bars all around it? But, hey I guess until the security situation in the country progresses, right?

actually, i barely noticed the bars.

i'm more concerned about mosquito nets, come to think of it.

Its one thing for the interior of a building(house) to be tastefully furnished but if the exterior(architeture included) doesn't catch the eye,what's the point?

The first house posted is way too overpriced.

I would buy 3-4 houses better than that
