BENIN—INSPECTOR General of Police, Mr. Muhammed Abubakar,  has ordered the immediate ban on the sale of police uniforms and accoutrements by unauthorised persons.

In a statement in Benin by the Police Zone 5 Benin, Public Relations Officer, Titilope Otukoya, the IG also banned the use of police lanyards by private security and other quasi-military organisations.

The ban, according to the statement had become necessary so as to bar criminals from perpetrating their evil acts under the guise of being members of the Nigeria Police Force.

She warned that any person found selling or sewing police accoutrements will be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.

She also called on individuals and organisations with such accoutrements to surrender them to the nearest police station in their interest.

For example, why cant this muppet of an IGP design a Police Crest/Badge (some small metallic shield that each Policeman has, with his number on it, kept inside their Purse) unique to each Policeman?
You resign/get sacked, you drop that badge! Immediately.

What about painting Police cars in a Unique, uniform color?
What about using unmarked car which can then be identified by "special and unique" lighting and siren sounds?
What about the head-gear? Are people also sewing that one?
What about making a law that says you dont obey anyone claiming to be a Policeman EXCEPT they identified themselves using their badge?

That way, IMPERSONATION will be difficult if not impossible.

Its only in Nigeria that Army will seize a boys "combat fatigue" or Boots claiming its impersonation?
