It depends. I have a 160gb ps3 unhackable for now. The firmware cannot be hacked yet.
Advantage- you get games cheaper than buying disc. PS3 discs are ridiculously expensive. Used games too are nothing less than 3k and above.
Disadvantage- there is a limit to the amount of games you can save on your harddisk(60,160,320gb). You cannot go online,so forget PSN. If you do, your console is finished. You cannot play newer games on your console once you chip it. Unless the newer firmware has been hacked.

With all these, I still prefer jailbroken console. My games budget is limited.

You should be comparing MGS 4 to uncharted 2 not 3. IMO any of the uncharted game 1,2 or 3 is better than MGS4

Suggestions:
Sport = FIFA 12
FPS = BattleField 3 or Call of Duty Modern Warfare. I also read Max Payne 3 is a good choice but i am yet to play it
Action/Adventure = Uncharted 2 or 3
Beat em up = Fight Night Champion

1. Fight night Champion: EA sports have one of the best graphics,it looks so real
Then Uncharted3:I ve played 1,2,3..3 is just great.so real.it beats uncharted
3:Battfield 3,another EA sports tin,4:then of course Fifa 12
