Now, let's talk about names of Nigerian cities and towns and their meanings.
Say Nigerian cities/towns/states you know and explain what they mean.

I want to say Enugu; it means "the top of a mountain."

Tell what Abuja, Lagos, Anambra, Kano, and so forth mean.

Lagos was named for Lago de Curamo, a city in Portugal, in the 15th century. The city (Lagos/Eko) bore certain similarities with its Portugese twin hence was named for that reason. On the other hand, Ubinu (Bini) royals name this same area Eko, their name for farmland as the area was used for that purpose by Bini royals.

Uyo is Bush Mango tree (in Efik/Ibibio) that the fruit is used in cooking raw soup. The Igbos really know about this tree.

OGUN is named after the Ogun river that flows through the state. While ABEOKUTA (the capital) means "under rock" is from the Olumo rock that provided shelter for the first settlers of the area during war.
