I told you guys, that Obama is very smart guy anyday anytime.
Nigeria just ring CORRUPTION no matter how good you are;
@Frankies, who was the mexican nominee and can you please define intelligence?
People like you are myopic and reason like a dimwit. Can we also ask:
What if Iweala was nominated and the US can support her candidacy? Ngozi could be nominated by anybody and US support it period.
Americans are not stupid to nominate an urban morphologist, glorified as an economist in Nigeria, they are not stupid like we are.
Sowore is doing excellent job anytime, anyday.

I wonder where Aganga is today. I remember how thread after thread on Nairaland, back in 2010, proclaimed him the best we had. So many went as far as to suggest that the man would solve the Nigerian problem. Fast forward 2 years later, I bet most of you don't even remember his name.

Just felt to add this on here. grin

Ngozi is a suitable candidate for world bank presidency but judging from what nigeria is going through now, she is even responsible for inflicting more pain on nigerians, she help beautifying corruption..as a minister of finance&economy supervisor of a sixt largest oil producer is unable to solve nigeria problem after millions of crude oil barrel no money for governance, millions of nigerians are living below a dollar aday yet politicians are billionaire in truth no matter what ur credentials are person from this league cannot precide over world bank affairs so i duff hat for OBAMA

Obama was wrong in nominating this American with South Korean origins to head the World Bank while the UN secretary general is also a South Korean. We need "FEDERAL CHARACTER" in global politics! Besides, why on earth should a medical doctor be heading the WORLD BANK?

What is wrong with all these Nigerian leaders sef?
You have not finished building your house due to lack of wisdom, yet you now feel you have enough wisdom to build house for all your neighbours at once.

Basic common sense, self-awareness and shame should not even make you apply for things like World Bank President when you have not fixed your own country's situation.
How can you be seeking for promotion when you have not finished the work you have been sent you to do?

The rest of the world, especially US, don't care for all that linkage linkage nonsense. you are nominated based on actual VISIBLE results, and not just mouth and flash.
Due to the very VISIBLE backwardness of naija, she shouldn't have sensibly expected to have a chance.

I'm sure she's a nice lady, but every child must first learn to walk well before going for 500m sprint.
Finish one, perfect it, then face World Bank Presidency competition.

. . . . Nigerians and this their penchant for seeking titles they know not how to take care of.

fm7070: Obama cannot dictate for the entire world.
Let's wait and see
If everyone rejected the black handsome gorilla called 'Obama' will he be US President today?
Same way he sailed through, same way my sister Ngozi will make it.
They forget that Nigerian politics and economy is so difficult to manage. She's just a minister of finance. If the presidency refuse her suggestion, what will she do. Moreover, this woman has tried a whole lot for this country.

excellent post, nothing to add.

Interesting really
Nigerians are natural propagandists
Nigeria hosted ADB summit and we could not win the ADB presidency. We lost to Rwanda
Now we just want presidency of World Bank. Really? a country of 419/terrorism?
Last year, the noise was that Jonathan will transform this country. As I post this, we hardly have light for 3 hours per day and they have told us Kainji is back.
Jonathan has transformed this country into a land of darkness punctuated by light from generators
Yet it is more expensive to fuel those generators

But Kim drew quick support, and one other candidate for the job, Columbia University professor Jeffrey Sachs, withdrew from contention in praise of Obama’s choice.

Kim “is a superb nominee,” Sachs said, a “world-class development leader.” Sachs had campaigned openly for the job, arguing that the bank’s next leader should be a development expert rather than someone who had spent a career in finance.

I can not blame Obama. He has made the right move. It is now left to you people to check yourselves and make necessary adjustments.

At this point in time, nominating anything with a Nigerian label will debase everything the world bank stands.

Don't let us deceive ourselves and be honest with each other; none of us is ready for this prestigious position.
Allow Iweala to remain in Abuja and prove herself to the world.
This position requires more than just intelligence; background and integrity are the key.
And anyone that works for a country that produces oil but unable to provide for her citizens has no integrity.

Nigerians, please understand that a position of a world bank president is not for sale.
Recommending a Nigerian for the position at this time is nothing but a complete disrespect to the position and the history of the institution.
Instead of fooling ourselves once again, let us all come together and clean up our house, Nigeria.

Thank you. Anyone who is truly honest with themselves past the usual Nigerian need to make noise and clap for mediocrity can see this.
Several things need to be reflected fully and in maturity first before any Nigerian official whatsoever should have the balls/ovaries to be campaigning for anything on the "World Scale".
They have enough troubles as it is to take care of.

She is forward thinking, and she may get there someday, but now is just not the time.
Too many things up in the air in that sector of naija. Naija should curb the need to acquire another title she cannot cope with just yet.
Life ain't about titles.

jim young kim should be the world bank president. i support that decision. he is a smart man. obama was smart taking that decision. they is nothing like race in this. obama is black like ngozi iweala, and if obama picked a korea over a black woman. he must see that this man is good. everything is not color. we have to be color blind .

you people are been emotional because iweala is black... you are a racist. stop been a racist.
