RomanceKind Of Man You Should Date Or Marry To Avoid HAD I KNOWN by 8Ebisco(op): 6:33am On Jul 12, 2020
Finding the man you should make your husband will make you feel like you can be open about anything and everything.
The kind of man you should marry is someone you’re madly in love with.

He should be nothing less than amazing. Love and marriage are special, so the man you marry should be, too.

Marriage is both a legal and a sacred thing, governed by the law of our land and the law of the heavens. Thus, ladies have to be extra careful in choosing the guy they should marry. This also applies in looking for a boyfriend, since a boyfriend is the closest guy who can be their husband.

If a man works on himself and develops himself to be worthy, the woman will be his partner. If he doesn’t, she will be against him.

Guys get emotional and soft when they have found the woman they want to spend their lives with. They are not scared to let you know how they feel. He is not ashamed to tell you how much you mean to him. He is always telling you how special you are to him.

Men are wired differently than women, they have a natural tendency of being the provider in the family and in order to accomplish that they sometimes fall short of being the kind of man all women desire.

If you are dating someone seriously, how peaceful do you feel when you think about marrying that person?
Committing your heart to someone is a huge decision. If you choose poorly, you could suffer years of heartache or wind up abused or divorced. However, if you select a marriage partner wisely, you could enjoy a lifetime together of intimate love and passion.

A man who Show leadership
If a man wants to be seen as worthy and have a good relationship with a woman, he has to show leadership. When he sees a situation that needs to be dealt with, he should step forward and handle it. People admire those who step forward to handle difficult situations. We don’t admire those who stand back and

Romance5 Clear Signs You’ve Found Your Future Husband by 8Ebisco(op): 5:49pm On Jul 11, 2020
The older we become, the more we start to value the things in life that matter, and we begin to choose these things over the superficiality of mundane things. It’s because with age comes maturity, and with maturity, we start to realize that while money, power, a huge house, cars, parties, all such things are not what can make a human being feel complete. What completes us sentient beings is true love, trust, the feeling of being wanted, being looked after, and being valued. Love is what keeps us going. Feeling like we’re being safeguarded by the people who love us and who we love is what gives us the strength to deal with whatever difficulties life may throw at us.

Being loved is a blessing. It’s the best feeling in the world, but there’s a blessing even bigger than feeling love and it, finding the right person to love and who loves you. When you’re genuinely in love with someone, you can’t imagine spending a life that they’re not a part of, in which you can’t share your experiences, your moments of happiness and sadness with them. But, life can be tricky. How do you make sure that the person you share the rest of your life with is, in fact, the right person for you? How do you find an answer to this: are they the ones you were meant to love and live with? Are they the right ones for you? You will find yourself asking yourself whether you’ve indeed found the man you should marry and stay with because, well, marriage is a huge deal, you want to be careful and go in the right direction. No one wants to marry the wrong kind of a man and either try to adjust with him or end up in a divorce. Those are traumatic experiences that not a single woman wants to go through. While you can’t know these things for sure, and there’s a guarantee about the future, there are still some signs a woman can read and decide whether he’s the one she should be tying the knot with or not. Here are things that will tell you you’ve found your future husband.
You are who you are around him:

Most women have a record of getting into a relationship with a man who never really accepted us for who she indeed was. Women know what it feels like to carry the weight of being someone else around the man she’s dating because he doesn’t have enough love for her to accept her for who she is indeed is. Feeling unwanted and rejected for your real self is something no one deserves to go through. This is why, when you’re in a relationship with a man who makes you feel entirely comfortable with being just the way you are around him, you don’t have to put on a show in front of him. He loves you for your right side, your wrong and everything in between, congratulations! You’ve hit the jackpot. This is the right man, not to mention your future husband.
He’s your happy place:

This man is your calm after a storm. He’s your rainbow after a rainy day. He is your haven, the reason behind your smile, your comfort zone, all in all, he’s the one you run to after a rough day. You just want to be in his arms when you’re worked up, stressed out, unhappy, or upset because he makes you forget all about your struggles, and he makes you feel like you’ll never be alone through any of them. If you feel sheltered this way, you’ve found yourself your future husband. Spending your life with a man who stands by you

through it all, whose love makes you feel stronger, is the man who you should marry because you deserve no less.
He is the best listener:

He listens to what you have to say. He never makes you feel like what you’re saying is boring, unimportant, or none of his business. He pays attention instead of replying with “ohs,” “mhmms,” or “yeah.” he gives you advice, he answers your questions with interest and to him, your words hold value. If this man is always interested in everything you’re doing and saying, he cares about you. He’s the right guy.
Your happiness is his priority:

Coming across a man who finds his joy in yours is a very, very gift from above. Not all people will be happy when you’re happy. But, if this guy loves you so much that his prime source of happiness is your happiness, your satisfaction, and comfort, then don’t ever let him go. Marry him!

PoliticsBIG STORY: President Buhari Suspends EFCC, Magu by 8Ebisco(op): 6:57pm On Jul 07, 2020
President Muhammadu Buhari has suspended the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, multiple sources have disclosed. Mr Magu allegedly spent last night in police cell at the Force Criminal Investigation Department Headquarters in Area 10, Garki, Abuja, after he was quizzed on Monday for about six hours by a Presidential panel, chaired by a former President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Ayo Salami. PDP asks Buhari to allow Magu’s investigation Monitor constituency projects, Magu tells Nigerians It was gathered that Magu was detained at the FCID after the panel grilled him.

The media aide of the anti-graft boss, Tony Amokedo, told the Daily Trust that he is not aware of the suspension of his boss. The panel was constituted by President Muhammadu Buhari to probe various allegations levelled against Magu following a petition by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and the Department of State Service (DSS). Malami’s memo allegedly accused Magu of diversion of recovered loot.

The memo was said to contain 22 allegations against the embattled EFCC chairman. But Malami through his spokesman, Dr Umar Gwandu, said he had no knowledge of Magu’s arrest. “You are just informing me now,” Gwandu said when told that Malami had reportedly written a memo in June, 2020, which indicted Magu. “I am also not aware of any memo written to the president on the EFCC chairman,” he said.

How Magu was interrogated One of our sources said the Salami panel had “quizzed Magu” who has been the acting chairman of the EFCC since when he was first nominated for the job by President Buhari in 2015. “I am sure Justice Salami was selected to chair the panel because he will not compromise. “This is a serious setback for the administration’s anti-corruption war. “As it is now, Magu is a loner.

“He may be asked to handover to the most senior officer in the commission while the investigation continued. “I don’t see him surviving this,” the source told one of our correspondents. Another source told the Daily Trust that “it took a long time before President Buhari gave the green light for Magu to be interrogated.”

According to the source, “What happened yesterday was a tough decision…It was at the instance of the president and he (Buhari) agreed that Magu should be asked questions. “This was based on the petitions and facts made available to him. “Magu is the face of the anti-corruption war of the president but the allegations are heavy.

“So, I can assure you that it was a tough decision taken by the president in order to save his image and that of his administration,” he said. It was not clear last night whether Magu was allowed to go home after he faced the panel or the DSS took him into custody. Why Magu was invited – Presidency The Presidency yesterday said Magu was not arrested but rather invited so that he can respond to issues as they arise.

Senior Special Assistant to the president on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, in a text message in response to Daily Trust enquiries, said Magu’s attention was “immediately” needed as the presidential panel investigating the disposal of recovered assets began its sitting. Garba, while reacting to a text message that sought to know the feeling of the presidency to the DSS’s decision to invite Magu, said: “There is a presidential panel that has begun sitting, investigating the disposal of recovered assets and the EFCC chairman is responding to their questions.

“I will not call it arrest per se, as many have suggested, but they need him to be immediately available to them so that he can respond to issues as they arise,” he said. Magu could not be reached for comments last night as his mobile phone was switched off. But his media aide, Tony Amokedo, told the Daily Trust that Magu was not arrested as reported by a section of the media. He said the EFCC boss was invited by a presidential panel investigating allegations of corruption against him and he complied.

He also said he hasn’t seen the memo purportedly written by Malami against Magu. Journalists barred from covering proceedings Journalists were yesterday barred from the sitting of the panel set up to probe alleged violations against Magu. Reporters that arrived at the venue to cover the event at about 3:20pm were denied access by security personnel.

“They said you people should excuse the use of this place for today,” a security official detailed to the venue, politely told reporters. How DSS operatives intercepted Magu Magu was reportedly stopped by DSS operatives while moving out of the Wuse II Annex of the EFCC in Abuja. He was intercepted while his convoy was driving out of the premises.

A source described what happened as a sting operation, saying Magu might not have honoured an invitation if extended to him by the DSS, which necessitated his arrest. Another source said the DSS wanted to arrest the EFCC boss last week but could not because of some reasons. However, the DSS said its operatives did not arrest Magu, saying he was only given an invitation letter.

In a statement yesterday, its spokesman, Peter Afunanya, said: “DSS wishes to inform the public that it did not arrest Ibrahim Magu, acting EFCC chairman as has been reported by sections of the media. “The service has been inundated with enquiries over the alleged arrest,” he said. Also yesterday, the EFCC said Magu had honoured an invitation by a presidential panel reviewing the activities of the EFCC, saying he met members of the panel at the Banquet Hall wing of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

A statement from EFCC spokesman, Dele Oyewale said Magu was served the invitation to the panel while on his way to the Force Headquarters, Abuja for a meeting. He said the EFCC’s boss was neither arrested nor forced to honour the invitation, adding that a member of a legal team from the EFCC was also with him on the panel. Malami had reportedly filed a petition to President Buhari demanding the removal of Magu over alleged diversion of recovered loot, insubordination and misconduct. Daily Trust recalled that trouble started for Magu immediately after his appointment by President Buhari to head the commission. The Senate under Senator Bukola Saraki had refused to confirm his appointment, citing a 2016 report by the DSS.

The DSS in a 2016 report said Magu was not fit to serve as EFCC chairman. Among other allegations, the secret agency in the report also said the Police Service Commission (PSC) had in December 2010, found Magu guilty of action prejudicial to state security – withholding of EFCC files, sabotage, unauthorised removal of EFCC files and acts unbecoming of a police officer, and awarded him severe reprimand as punishment.

On his part, Magu has been complaining about the danger of fighting corruption, often being quoted in the media telling reporters that corruption fights back. Magu, like his predecessors, is facing his own problems.

His predecessor Lamorde was removed by President Buhari in a shroud of corruption allegations. Also, Lamorde succeeded Farida Waziri whose sack was announced on a Twitter handle on November 23, 2011 during the time of President Goodluck Jonathan. Her removal followed allegations that the commission was selective in its investigations, especially as many members of the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), were being prosecuted. PACAC reacts A member of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), Prof. Femi Odekunle, said Monday that the interrogation of Magu was part of the power play at the Presidential Villa. Odekunle said in a statement: “Of course, the real information reaching us is that he (Magu) was only invited to appear before a panel set up not long ago concerning some alleged memo by Malami, Attorney General and Minister of Justice, regarding some alleged malfeasance by Magu, along with nominations for his replacement. “It was just that those sent to invite him for whatever reasons best known to them invited some press along and made it look an arrest. “That mischief has been confirmed by some apparent afterthought denial by the DSS that it was not an arrest.

“While PACAC has not had a formal meeting on this development, I have discussed with the chairman and some other members and the following can be considered as PACAC’s preliminary reaction to this development: “The alleged originating Malami memo, up to the current “arrest “ seems an outcome of power-play by power blocs in the corridors of power in which Malami appears to be an arrow-head or major agent of a power bloc that is not really interested in, or in support of, Buhari’s anti-corruption fight. “One can recall the earlier non-confirmation experience of Magu by the 8th Assembly, orchestrated by a power bloc and supported by the DSS ‘Security’ reports.

“One can also note the non-resubmission of Magu for confirmation since May, 2019 despite the apparent willingness of the 9th Assembly to consider it this time around. “Furthermore, one must take cognisance of the alleged memo referred to earlier i.e by Malami concerning alleged corrupt practices by Magu, along with his own nominations for Magu’s replacement. “Again, we cannot forget Malami’s demand of certain high profile case files from Magu which the latter has been resisting.

“The position of PACAC is that while Magu, or any official of whatever status, must be nailed if found to be corrupt, the president must be careful not to shoot his anti-corruption fight /modest achievements in the foot, and not to forget that EFCC under Magu has been the administration’s anti-corruption poster-face.

“It may not be contestable that Malami has been exploiting his alleged loyalty and closeness to the president for his personal /power bloc agenda. “For, to the best of PACAC’s knowledge and observations, Malami has not manifested any genuine commitment to the anti-corruption fight,” he said. PDP asks Buhari to allow Magu’s investigation The PDP Monday asked President Buhari to show the genuineness of his war against corruption by allowing unhindered investigation of Magu.

The PDP in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, said Nigerians were already aware that Magu had been pulled in for questioning, adding that Buhari should allow the law to take its course.

“The PDP holds that the development around the EFCC acting chairman as well as the desperate attempt by the Commission to cover or wave off his investigation, only raise more integrity questions regarding Magu’s activities in the EFCC. “Only last month, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, released a memo in which he indicted Magu of alleged diversion of recovered funds and fraudulent sale of assets seized by the EFCC. “Our party, Nigerians and indeed, the international community are keenly monitoring the development and expect the Buhari Presidency to muster the courage to carry out a comprehensive investigation and make its findings available to the public.

“Now that Magu has been pulled in for investigation, the federal government should preserve the integrity of the office of the chairman of the EFCC by ordering him to step aside while investigators take charge of every activities of the office to forestall destruction of evidence as well as unnecessary interferences in the matter,” the party said.

CrimeUnbelievable!! 33-year-old Woman Buries Her Own Baby Alive In Kaduna by 8Ebisco(op): 11:06pm On Jul 05, 2020
Sources say she must have carried out the dastardly act due to a paternity issue surrounding the pregnancy or due to family pressure.

According to a report by Sun News, a 33-year-old woman identified as Hauwa on Saturday allegedly connived with her 35-year-old elder sister, Zainab, to remove her foetus and bury it in a shallow grave at People’s Club Hotel in Tudun Wada, Kaduna.

An investigation by Sun News revealed that both sisters who reside close to the hotel facility checked in Friday night after they paid N2,000 accommodation fee to execute their chilling plan.

Sources within the area say the young woman was well known though they could not ascertain the age of the pregnancy, noting that she must have carried out the dastardly act due to a paternity issue surrounding the pregnancy or due to family pressure.

‘”Hauwa is a well-known pregnant woman around here. She came around yesterday to book for accommodation. No one ever thought that she had such a thing in mind. What we don’t also know is whether she gave birth before daybreak or someone helps her removed the baby,’ a source who spoke in confidence stated.

‘This morning, someone who is not staff at the hotel sighted them from a distance when she and her sister were digging the spot where they buried the baby. It was unfortunate.’

An eyewitness, Bello Abdulmumin, who claimed to have seen them said: ‘I just came in and I saw two women around 11 am this morning with stick digging somewhere there (pointing to the area).

‘After they finished digging, they dropped something there and covered it with sand. I drew someone’s attention to it and we tried to check what was planted there.

‘The moment we saw blood, I then asked the other man to leave the spot and that was how we went to inform the police who came and arrested the two of them.

‘I know the two of them, Hauwa and Zainab, very well because they live around here. The elder sister Zainab should be around 35, while Auwa should be 33,’ the witness narrated.

When this correspondent visited the Angwan Sanusi Police Station at Tudun Wada where the case was reported, the two women were sighted with their hands cuffed.

A credible source suggested that the baby had died and it has been taken to an undisclosed hospital for forensic examination.

As at the time of this report, details on how the fetus was removed by the two sisters were sketchy, with the police spokesman promising to give an update on the case later in the day as he claimed to be on official assignment outside Kaduna town.

CrimePastor Arrested For Running A Baby Factory Inside Church And Using Drug Addicts by 8Ebisco(op): 7:47am On Jul 05, 2020
The River State Police command have arrested a couple, Chidi and Maureen Martins, who allegedly specialize in selling day-old babies to prospective buyers at a church in the Rumuolumili area of Port Harcourt.

They wee arrested on Thursday after police invaded the church, Grate Mercy Deliverance Ministry, located at number 3 Giwa Street in Rumuolumili area of Port Harcourt.

The Police said the suspects usually search for pregnant teenagers across Rivers, Abia, Akwa Ibom and Imo states. During the arrest, three newly born babies, their mothers, and three pregnant teenagers were rescued.

A police source stated, “A couple, who came to buy a baby boy and a girl from Maureen, were also arrested. They paid N3.5m. The children are those of Patience and Favour. The two babies were sold to the couple as twins.

There are over seven rooms in the church where the girls were kept. Maureen said she had lost count of the number of babies she had sold.

In the course of our investigations we discovered that pregnant teenagers were usually induced into delivery when their pregnancies were eight months old due to demand from people who wanted to buy the babies.

They also had a woman known as IB, who is on the run now, who would go out to scout for these girls who would then be made pregnant by drug addicts.

We are currently tracing over 20 children which they had sold. We learned that when a child was born, Maureen would ask the mother not to breast feed the child so that the child would not get used to breast milk and this would enable their new mothers to feed them with baby milk.”

CelebritiesD’banj Demand For N1.5billions From His R@pe Accuser by 8Ebisco(op): 10:55am On Jul 04, 2020
Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, popularly known as D’banj, has sued his rape accuser, Seyitan Babatayo for N1.5 billion Naira.

In an initial lawsuit, D’banj demanded N100 million Naira from Seyitan Babatayo for “defamation of character” after she accused him of rape and demanded an apology through her lawyers.

Now, after all that has happened in recent times, D’banj, through his lawyer, Mike Ozekhome Chambers, has asked Ms Babatayo to pay N1.5 billion Naira.

N1 billion was demanded in damages “over the untold embarrassment, derision, public ridicule, odium, obloguy, marital disharmony, mental agony and psychological trauma which the Defendants’ tweets and publication have caused the claimant.”

N500 million was demanded as “aggravated, puniitive, and exemplary damages.”

The suit also demanded that Seyitan writes D’banj “a letter of unreserved apology for the offensive tweets and posts”.

D’banj’s lawyers also prayed the court to grant “an order of perpetual injunction restraining the defendant from further publishing, tweeting or posting offesnive libelous statements.”

Recall that a week ago, Seyitan released a statement detailing the timeline of her case with D’banj. She had initially posted a tweet denying that she was arrested on D’banj’s orders. She also said she wanted to put everything behind her.

However, in the statement released afterwards, she said she was arrested and held for 24 hours after which she was released to D’banj’s team who took her to an undisclosed location, denied her access to her family and lawyers, threatened her, took over control of her social media account, and coerced her to retract her statement (read here).

On Thursday, July 2, activist Segun “Segalink” Awosanya shared a thread on Twitter where he said Seyitan was not detained by D’banj’s team as claimed (read here). However, today, he did a turnaround and stated that Seyitan didn’t lie and that she was indeed detained but not “kidnapped” by D’banj’s team as the “e-femists” claimed (read here).

Just like i fall into your lips

Waves crash onto the shore

My love for you grows more and more

Sound of the crickets a true meditation

I think about you, Gods greatest creation.

As i fall into this blissful state

I ponder on how you’re my one true SOULMATE

Its getting dark to dark to see

A chilling breeze embraces me

The smell of camomile fresh from the garden

My life is a movie that both of us star in.

Speaking of stars I’m starting to see some

They light up the sky, reminds me of my freedom

How big and how vast our world is around us

So grateful for god we were lost but he found us

Politics157 B’haram Inmates Embrace Western Education by 8Ebisco(op): 4:34am On Apr 09, 2019
The leadership of the Nigerian Prisons Service has revealed that no fewer than 157 inmates serving various jail terms for violent extremism in the country have largely indicated interest in Western Education and vocational studies.

The Controller General of Prisons, Ja’afaru Ahmed stated this at a three-day deradicalisation programme organised by the Service with support from the European Union, while some of these 157 inmates have sat for the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and others are processing their admissions to the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).

According to him, “Our dear country has unfortunately been plagued with various forms of security challenges; the most worrisome being the Boko Haram elements. The federal government in its commitment to protect lives and properties of citizens being one of the cardinal objectives of governance has deployed numerous strategies to tame the scourge. Although the crisis is not over, it is gladdening to see a steady progress especially in deradicalising violent extremists.”

The Prisons boss said, “The Nigerian Prisons Service has since assumed the onerous task of leading the deradicalisation programme. This programme is not entirely a strange approach, considering the service’s mandate of reforming, rehabilitating and reintegrating deviants into the society. Deradicalisation as an approach, has turned out to be a great window of hope in the midst of devastating circumstances, ensuring that violent extreme offenders desist from their unpatriotic activities using counter narratives to change their ideologies.”

Ja’afru who disclosed that the Service has recorded a significant breakthrough in changing the mindset of the extremists added that about 157 of them in their custody have not only embraced formal education but have sat for the WAEC examination with impressive results. He however added that three of them are now being processed for degree programmes in the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).

The Controller General who was represented by Deputy Controller General (DCG Covering Duties) in charge of Health and Social Welfare, Mrs Husseina Kori, said the workshop was aimed at strengthening the Nigerian Prisons Service Deradicalisation Programme.

The Prisons boss commended the European Union for providing both financial and technical support for the programme, and urged participants to pay close attention to the presentations and discussions.

In his welcome address, Programme Manager of the Prisons De-radicalization initiative, Dr Ade Yusuf said the European Union had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nigeria represented by the Prisons Service, to provide technical support, materials and equipment as well as capacity building to the NPS De-radicalisation Programme, adding that the concept of de-radicalisation in the management of Violent Extremism Offenders is relatively new.

PoliticsJust In: Supreme Court Delivers Judgement On Rivers APC Primaries by 8Ebisco(op): 5:00pm On Apr 08, 2019
The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed the suit filed by Senator Magnus Abe on the primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State.

Delivering judgement, the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed, dismissed the application on the ground that it lacks merit.

The Apex Court also noted that the suit is incompetent and a gross violation of order 2 rule 8 of the supreme court rules.

According to the ruling, once a notice of appeal has been found defective, it cannot be amended.

The Federal High court in Port Harcourt had on January 7, nullified the direct and indirect primaries conducted by the two factions of the APC in the state.

Following the court’s ruling, Senator Abe filed an appeal against the nullification of the party’s primaries at the Supreme Court.

CelebritiesReason I Blasted Comedian Akpororo – Sammy Okposo by 8Ebisco(op): 5:32pm On Apr 07, 2019
Veteran gospel singer Sammie Okposo has given his reason for slamming comedian Akpororo who had performed shirtless during a church program in Lagos last year.

In an interview with Punch, Okposo said Akporor crossed the line with his performance as there are rules guiding the gospel music industry.

“I really don’t want to go into that any longer. In the kingdom of God, there are certain things you cannot do, notwithstanding the swagger you want to adopt. Have you ever been to a church and the person leading praise and worship or the choir members were dressed inappropriately? I was hard on Akpororo because of the relationship that I share with him.

I have always supported him; so, it was my duty to say that he went too far. There is a way I will dress and it will send a wrong message to people. Even before I start to minister, those people would be put off already because of my appearance. Also, we should not forget that we have elderly people in the church who don’t tolerate certain things.”

He continued saying;

“I have taken Akpororo to my shows abroad and I support his events. But I felt pulling off his shirt during a praise and worship session was not needed and the media made a meal of it. Meanwhile, he reached out to me and admitted that he indeed crossed the line. If I didn’t say anything, then I wouldn’t have done well because I consider him a family member.”

PoliticsEdo Community, Firm Feud Over Deadly Emission by 8Ebisco(op): 8:37am On Apr 06, 2019
Crisis looms in the Edo State community of Ogua, Ikpoba Okha local government area between the inhabitants and the management of a Chinese firm, Yongxing Steel Company, over alleged neglect and pollution. PATRICK OCHOGA reports

From a distance, a thick dark smoke can be sighted billowing over the airspace of Yongxing Steel Company. It has become a regular sight for not only passers-by just as the over 200,000 inhabitants of Ogua Community in Ikpoba Okha local government area of Edo are alleging that it is posing serious health concern for them.

Ogua community is less than 20 minutes’ drive from Benin, the Edo State Capital. Prior to the citing of the company in Ogua, the community was relatively unknown and almost forgotten despite its proximity to Benin City.

The town in every sense of it remains desolate and lacks all facilities are required in a typical community that is close to the metropolis.

According to resident of the community, the management of the firm has continued to treat them with disdain despite a memorandum of understanding it entered with the town about six years ago when it started operation.

Our correspondent on his visit to the community was confronted with the stark reality of long years of neglect of the people.

A drive off the expressway leading through the community gives a fist time visitors of what to expect in the community.

The road, which is almost unpassable is riddled with deep potholes and water logged whenever it rained, also had heavy trailers that supply’s metal scraps to the company parked on both sides of the tiny long stretch of roads.

Residents of the community had thought that with the coming of the firm some of their infrastructural challenges and woes might be a thing of the past but this has not come to being.

Community’s plight

The Enogie of Ogua Community, His Royal Highness Ogiesoba Aghaghowen, who narrated their plight told LEADERSHIP that inhabitants of the community might be forced to shut down the company for alleged neglect and pollution.

He said the community had nothing to show for the existence of the company in the their midst even after several protest letters written to the organisation and state government to prevail on the Yongxing Steel Company to honour the MOU it signed with the community. He said even more p athetic is that no single indigene of the community was given employment to work in the company, even as many youths in community are jobless.

The traditional ruler also noted that the community faces serious health challenges owing to the poisonous emission coming out of the steel company adding that rained water turned black whenever rain fell.

According to him: “When they came they promised to provide us with roads, and schools in the community. On our part we provided electricity through communal effort from Sapele road to this place, it cost us N25million, at a point the company was depending on our light but after they fixed their own they left us because now they enjoy 24 hours electricity.

“We approached them and pleaded with them to extend the supply to us that we are ready to pay but they refused. You can also see the dilapidated condition of our roads, anytime they want to fix the road they bring old excavators and before 6 months the road will fail again.

“In December they used to bring few bags of rice to us but what we really want from them is good roads, electricity. Landlords are even threatening to go to courts. Anytime it rains for about 2-3 hours the water turns black like charcoal owing to waste they emit into the atmosphere, it is giving us serious concern.

“An environmentalist that visited the community said it is dangerous and a slow killer. So, we are worried. Our people know about the danger and are threatening to go to court over the matter

“We have approached them on several occasions and nothing has come out of it. In the last five years they have not addressed the issues and our people are complaining. We have written to them on several occasions but nothing has been done.”

He continued, “Recently we wrote including the MOU we entered and sent through the local government to the governor, as we speak they have reneged on all the agreement we entered. My people are threatening to shut down the company, they are making a lot of money in this community and we are suffering.”

CultureIgbos Are First In The World To Discover, Nurture Wealth — Ooni Of Ife by 8Ebisco(op): 12:11am On Apr 06, 2019
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has said that the Igbo nation is the first in the world to discover, harness and nurture wealth.

He made this disclosure during a courtesy visit by the Igbo community in Osun to his palace yesterday.

His words: ”Truth be told, the race that first discovered prosperity and wealth are the Igbo race and they really nurtured it.

“The Igbos first discovered it through their ancestral background, the linage of Obatala. They discovered the lineage of prosperity and wealth in terms of the divinity world and that is the reason why today, the Igbo race have very good expertise when it comes to commerce.

“They are very distinct. There is no place you would go in the world that you would not find an Igbo man.

“And the same goes with the Jews.”

He went further to say that the world was mistaken in the notion that the Igbos came from the Jews.

Ooni’s words: “No! It is the other way round. Truth be told, the first human race that existed was the Igbos before the Jews and we were all living together at the center of tropical rain forest before they started moving towards the Eastern part of the world where they started settling.

“So the race of the Jews and the Igbos are very similar but the Igbos are way older than the Jew.”

PoliticsInsecurity: Declare State-of-emergency In Zamfara, Cleric Urges FG by 8Ebisco(op): 11:31pm On Apr 05, 2019
The Chief Imam of Al-Furqan Mosque in Kano, Dr Bashir Omar, has urged the Federal Government to declare state-of-emergency in Zamfara State to address incessant kidnappings and killing of innocent citizens.

He made the call in his sermon during prayers in the mosque on Friday.

Omar said that the call was necessary in order to check the wanton killings currently going on in the state.

“The wanton killings and kidnappings can only be stopped through the introduction of State-of-Emergency by the Federal Government.

“The people of Zamfara State deserve pity and all forms of compassion to enjoy a peaceful living because the pogrom has consumed many lives with almost no end in sight.

“This is not the first time I am calling on the Federal Government to declare a State-of-Emergency in the state to end the killings,” he said.

According to him, the perpetrators of the dastardly acts are made to have a field day in the absence of punitive measures on ground to checkmate such despicable atrocities.

The cleric stressed the need for the government to match its words with action on how to end the disturbing spate of criminal banditry in the state.

He stated that kidnapping innocent citizens on the highways and other secluded areas had become a money-spinning business.

“Only those who lack absolute fear of Allah turned kidnapping as a business hence our decision to call for the imposition of emergency rule to put the abduction kingpins out of business.”

Omar explained that no economic development could ever be achieved with the Federal Government paying lip-service to the issue of security in the country.

“The Federal Government should be proactive in finding a lasting solution to the problem,” he stated.

PoliticsBREAKING: Suspended CJN Onnoghen Resigns by 8Ebisco(op): 3:37pm On Apr 05, 2019
Walter Onnoghen has resigned as the chief justice of Nigeria (CJN) with immediate effect. He turned in his resignation letter to President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday evening, a day after the National Judicial Council (NJC) recommended that he be compulsorily retired for misconduct.

By virtue of section 306 of the 1999 constitution, his resignation takes immediate effect. Section 306 says “(1) Save as otherwise provided in this section, any person who is appointed, elected or otherwise selected to any office established by this Constitution may resign from that office by writing under his hand addressed to the authority or person by whom he was appointed, elected or selected. (2) The resignation of any person from any office established by this Constitution shall take effect when the writing signifying the resignation is received by the authority or person to whom it is addressed or by any person authorised by that authority or person to receive it.” The resignation,

TheCable understands, was the “best possible option” for Onnoghen under the current circumstance. It will also save Buhari from having to get two-thirds majority of the senate to confirm Onnoghen’s retirement as stipulated in Section 292 (1) of the 1999 constitution which says a “judicial officer shall not be removed from his office or appointment before his age of retirement except in the following circumstances – (a) in the case of – (i) Chief Justice of Nigeria… by the President acting on an address supported by two-thirds majority of the Senate.” Buhari may not be able to muster the needed majority.

BusinessCourt Nullifies Sale Of 9mobile To Teleology by 8Ebisco(op): 8:39pm On Apr 04, 2019
A Federal High Court in Abuja has set aside the sale of telecommunication firm, Etisalat International Nigeria Limited (9mobile) to Teleology Nigeria Limited.

Justice Binta Nyako, in a ruling, voided all steps taken in relation to the exchange of ownership of Etisalat despite pending orders for maintenance of status quo, restraining parties to a suit, involving investors and other stakeholders in the company, from destroying the res (subject matter).

Justice Nyako, who noted that parties were all aware of the existence of the suit, the defendants having been served between April 24 and 27, 2018 with the originating process, faulted the sale, as claimed by the plaintiffs in a motion filed on November 16, 2018

The judge held: “Any action that has been taken concerning the rest of this litigation from the 25th day of April, which is earlier in time, should revert to the position, as of the res, to its 25th day of April 2018.”

The ruling, given on April 1, 2019 (a copy of which was sighted on Thursday) was in a suit, marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/288/2018 filed on April 6, 2018, by two major investors in Etisalat, Afdin Ventures Limited and Dirbia Nigeria Limited.

Afdin and Dirbia, whose investments in Etisalat is estimated at $43,033,950, had sued to retrieve their investments on the grounds that they were aggrieved, having been excluded from the decision making the process of the company.

Defendants in the suit are: Karington Telecommunication Ltd, Premium Telecommunications Holdings NV, First Bank of Nigeria Plc, Central Bank of Nigeria, Etisalat International Nigeria Ltd and Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC).

The plaintiffs stated, in a supporting affidavit to the motion dated November 16, 2018, that they resorted to praying the court to void the sale of Etisalat, upon learning that the defendants have proceeded to conclude the transfer the company’s ownership despite the restraining orders made earlier by the court.

They said: “In 2009, the plaintiffs/applicants purchased a total of 4,303,391 class “A” shares from the 1st, 2nd and 5th defendants (Karlingtton, Premium Telecommunication and Etisalat International) at the rate of $43,033,950 only, and were issued with share certificates.

“In 2010, the defendants rebranded Etisalat Nigeria Limited to 9mobile and entered into negotiations with Smile.com and Glo Network to transfer its licence without recourse to the plaintiffs.

“When the plaintiffs became aware of the purported transaction, they filed this suit along with two applications namely: motion ex-parte and motion on notice, seeking for an order of injunction to restrain the defendants from going ahead with the transaction.

“When this suit came up for hearing on the 17th of April, 2018, this honourable court ordered parties to maintain status quo pending the determination of the motion on notice.

“Notwithstanding the aforementioned order, the defendants continued negotiations with Smile.com and Glo Network in defiance to the subsisting order of this court.

“When the plaintiffs/applicants discovered that the defendants were bent on selling Etisalat Nigeria Limited “rebranded 9moile” despite the subsisting order of court, they instructed their Counsel Mahmud A. Magaii (SAN) to write and caution the defendants of the implications of their actions.

“Upon receipt of the above letters, the 3rd and 4rd respondents (First Bank and Central Bank), through their counsel Olaniwun Ajayi wrote to the applicants, through their counsel on the 24th August, 2018 and 31th August, 2018, denying the existing of the order of status quo made by this honourable court on the 17th April, 2018 and 31th August, 2018.

“When this matter comes up on the 10th of October, 2018, counsel to the plaintiff Okechukwu Edeze, informed the court of the attempts made by the defendants to sell Etisalat Nigeria Limited.

“Consequently, this honourable court made another order of status quo, directing parties to refrain from tampering with the subject matter of the suit.

“Despite the orders of this honourable court made on the 10th of October, 2018, the defendants went ahead and sold Etisalat Nigeria limited, rebranded 9moible to Teleology Nigeria Limited with impunity.

“It will be in the interest of justice to set aside the sale of Etisalat Nigeria limited rebranded 9moible to Teleology Nigeria Limited and commit the defendants to prison for disobeying the lawful orders of the court.”

PoliticsSENATE PRESIDENCY: Determined Ndume Releases 9-point Agenda by 8Ebisco(op): 9:31am On Apr 03, 2019
Former Senate Majority Leader, Senator Ali Ndume has released a list of nine things he hoped to achieve should he be elected the President of the Nigerian Senate.

Ndume, who remained adamant that he would run for the position in defiance of the position of the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, promised to make the office of the Senate President less attractive by reducing some of the privileges attached to it.

The Borno Senator’s nine point agenda is.contained in a pamphlet he distributed to journalists at the National Assembly on Tuesday, adding that he would ensure that there was an improvement on the performance of the 8th Senate in the 9th Senate.

The Senator, who has vowed to dare the National Working Committee of the APC over the endorsement of Senator Ahmed Lawan for the position, also pledged to uphold the Independence of the Legislative arm of government, hoping to “work harmoniously and inter-dependently with the Executive without undermining the principle of Separation of Power.”

He also promised to prioritize and ensure the passage of the Constituency Development Bill to make “Constituency projects more transparent, accountable, efficient and effective.”

Continuing, Ndume said with the cooperation and synergy of other senators-elect, the Senate will agree on timeline for confirmation, passage of bills especially the annual budgets which he said will not exceed 90 days from the day of submission.

“To make laws that will block leakages, I will devise improved means of generating revenue, especially through the amendment and review of our tax laws which will help reduce reliance on local and foreign loans to finance budget.

“To run the 9th Senate transparency, through open accountability with full participation of all Senators, we will transfer the approving powers of the privileges of the senators like foreign travels, allowances to Senate Services Committee or a new committee to be known as” ways and means committee .”

Despite going against the position of the party, Ndume also promised thay as Senate President, he would uphold the party’s principles and policies, adding that his Presidency will make laws and review existing ones to be in tandem with APC’s Next Level Agenda for Nigeria.
