PoliticsTheresa May Speaks After Visit To Nigeria by 8Ebisco(op): 6:15am On Aug 30, 2018
- Theresa May says she hopes to see increased trade between Nigeria and UK

- The UK prime minister not the thriving business in Nigeria

- She said better relationship will be good for both countries

British Prime Minister, Theresa May, says she had an excellent time in Nigeria and hopes to see increased trade and investment between Nigeria and the UK.

She spoke with newsmen at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja on Wednesday in Lagos, shortly before departing the country at 8:10 p.m.

“I was in Abuja and also in Lagos to see the thriving business community here.

“We want to see increased trade between Nigeria and UK, increased investment, bringing jobs here in Nigeria, jobs in the UK.

“This will be good for both countries and I have had an excellent time in here in Nigeria, and I am very pleased to be here today,” she told newsmen.

Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State, who was at the airport to see her off, said the important visit centered on improving investment in the state and the country in general.

“She has visited Abuja earlier in the day.

“The important part of this visit was discussion on how investment in Lagos can be improved by British investors.

“We realise that Lagos is the commercial capital of Nigeria and a whole lot of British investment are domiciled in Lagos,” he said.

The governor said they spoke about how to improve investment planning and what Lagos has been doing to attract investors.

“We having been doing a lot of judicial sector reforms and security sector reforms and she is pleased with the progress we are making in Lagos.

“She is ready to complement our efforts by opening up export credit facility and also with development finance to some of the things that we are doing in Lagos,” he said.

Ambode said the discussion also centred around boosting technology and improving infrastructure and the creative industry.

“We spoke about things related to technology, infrastructure and also the creative industry.”

On the relationship between Lagos and Britain, Ambode said: “we need to make sure that a whole lot of British investment is coming to Lagos. She is willing to do more with us.

“You know, Lagos in 1861 was a British colony. The history has been so long, so, we also need to reactivate that,” Ambode said.

NAN reports that the state government, in a statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Habib Aruna, shed more light on Ambode’s discussion with May.

Ambode, according to the statement, said that much of Nigerian education, cultural and political systems were influenced by Britain and there were more Nigerians living in the UK than elsewhere in the world.

The governor said that Lagos remained a place of choice for British investors, especially given that stability in the government, the size of Lagos economy and population, as well as the particular focus of his administration on the rule of law and justice sector reform.

He also said that it would be of particular importance to Lagos State if British investors could explore the various opportunities that exist in the State in the areas of energy, technology, export finance, infrastructure and the creative industry.

“So, we spoke about how we can improve the investment climate in Lagos and then the other parts of what Lagos has been doing to attract investors.

“You know we have been doing a lot in judicial sector reforms and security sector reforms and the Prime Minister was pleased with the progress that we are making in Lagos and ready to complement our efforts by opening up export credit facility and development finance to some of the things that we are doing in Lagos State.”

The Governor expressed optimism in the strengthening of the relationship between Britain and Lagos and avowed that his administration would do whatever it takes to achieve that goal.

According to the statement, May, on her part, said that export credit finance to the tune of 750 million pounds sterling, as well as a considerable development finance was available, which Lagos State could look towards.

She also spoke about the role that British could play in the development of the technology industry in Lagos given the particular capability of the UK in that area.

The British Prime Minister also noted the special strength of the London City as a financial hub that could be of considerable importance for Lagos State, just as she emphasized sustainability and growth in Britain/Lagos relationship.

Finally, she expressed the desire of the British government to assist Lagos in the development of her creative industry and alluded to the fact that the jacket she was wearing when she met with the Governor was actually made in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the United Kingdom says it has repatriated to Nigeria, 70 million pounds recovered from a Nigerian convict who was found guilty of fraud by an Italian court.

British High commissioner Paul Arkwright, ahead of Prime minister, Theresa May’s visit to the country, said more funds would be repatriated from the UK to Nigeria.

PoliticsGov. Ortom Reveals How He’ll Pay Workers’ Salary Arrears by 8Ebisco(op): 6:36pm On Aug 28, 2018
The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, has revealed how he would clear the backlog of workers salaries.

The Governor said when he came in as Governor in 2015, he inherited over N69 billion of unpaid workers salary arrears, pension and gratuity and over 70 billion for other engagement of government.

Ortom, who spoke to DAILY POST in an exclusive interview, said his administration has been paying workers’ salaries consistently since

January.

Asked if he was paying salaries, the Governor said “Yes, we have been consistently paying our workers since January.

“I inherited when we took over in 2015, over N69bn salary arrears, pension and gratuity. Over 70 billion for other engagements of government.

“We tried to cope with the issue of garnishing our account because people who went to court and secured valid judgement had to be paid. We tried to pay judgement debts, we tried to pay for other several commitments. It’s been quite tasking, but we appreciate God for how far we have gone.

“The 23 LGs welcomed us and we felt that there was the need to try to do something. The issue of payment of salary has been the biggest challenge of this government because Benue state economy is driven by the civil service.

“No much of commercial activities are going on here, no industries, so there is no engagement of the private sector providing commercial activities, so it has become very challenging..

“Once salaries are not paid, it becomes a big challenge.

“This is what we’ve been battling with. Since the beginning of the year, because the economy is improving, the federal allocation has improved compared to what we used to have.

“Throughout the period that we were in recession, the total allocation that was coming to the state was an average of 5 billion and then you have an IGR of about 500 million, it becomes a problem.

“But we also appreciate the fact that today in Nigeria, despite the low IGR that comes into the state, Benue state is number 3 in terms of payment of high salary.

“In the North, we have 19 states and Benue state is the highest.

In fact, it may interest you to know that some states in the north, their salary is 1/3 of what Benue State is paying, so it becomes a very big task.”

Ortom explained further that in the whole country, Benue State was number 3 in terms of payment of high amount of salary.

He said “While Lagos is first, Rivers is second and then Benue State. But if you compare our IGR to these two states, you can see the difference, so it’s a big challenge.”

He assured that as the state receive more money, “we will pay the arrears. Nobody can tell you anywhere that there is misappropriated money. All those lies on social media and others can never be justified.

“In fact, we have had some issues with some people who we thought were responsible and because of their irresponsibility in their utterances, we have tried to prove in a civil way that we have not done anything wrong, so we have taken them to court to prove their wild allegations of embezzlement of funds.

“How will you take money in this time of BVN and this time where accounts are open to other security agencies? Go and prove where monies have been diverted to. We have utilized our resources very well and our accounts are ready for everyone to see. We are transparent and we publish them for everyone to see.

“It is a difficult thing contending with payment of salary in the state, so what we have done as at today; from January we decided that let us suspend all the projects because salaries must be paid.

“I have been advised by traditional rulers, politicians who are close to me, the clergy and all the people that were consulted that we must suspend every other thing to consistently pay salaries, and that’s what we have been doing.

“They say, ‘If you construct a bridge and there is no one to make use of it, it doesn’t make any meaning, so pay salaries.’

“So we have suspended all projects. From January by the Grace of God, we have been able to pay up to date and what is left now is the arrears which is seven months at the state level, 11 at the LG level. This is an accumulation of all the arrears.

“But we must appreciate the workers for their understanding. They understand our plight because we are transparent. We are open to them. In the LG joint account, the workers are also part of it, so that they can also see what comes in and goes out. So it has made things very easy for us instead of trying to answer some of those wild allegations that people make which are lies. They are there themselves. I don’t play with LG funds, and at the state level, whatever we spend, all the figures are there for anyone to see.”

PoliticsWhy I Killed Bob Marley, Ex-cia Agent Confesses by 8Ebisco(op): 7:26pm On Aug 27, 2018
79-year-old Bill Oxley, ex-agent of America’s Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is re-writing the history of the death of reggae legend Bob Marley, claiming he actually killed the legend.

Marley tragically died aged only 36-years-old, leading music lovers world-wide to grieve as the Jamaican icon’s life and career were cut short following a four-year battle with cancer.

The story of cancer may seem untrue as startling claims have emerged from a deathbed confession made by an ex-CIA officer, where he admitted to the killing.

Oxley is alleged to have claimed the murder of Marley among 17 other assassinations for the American government between 1974 and 1985, at a time when he said the CIA “was a law unto itself.”

Oxley, who reportedly worked as an operative for the CIA for 29 years, is alleged to have said he was often used as a hitman on targets deemed to “represent a threat to the interests of the United States.”

In a purported interview shared widely online, he admitted having no problem with proceeding with the Bob Marley assassination because “I was a patriot, I believed in the CIA, and I didn’t question the motivation of the agency – I’ve always understood that sometimes sacrifices have to be made for the greater good.”

According to the conspiracy theory, Oxley used faked press credentials to gain access to Bob Marley at his Blue Mountain retreat; introducing himself as a famous photographer working for the New York Times, and gave Bob Marley a gift.

“I gave him a pair of Converse All Stars. Size 10. When he tried on the right shoe, he screamed out ‘OUUUCH.‘

“That was it. His life was over right there and then. The nail in the shoe was tainted with cancer viruses and bacteria. If it pierced his skin, which it did, it was goodnight nurse.”

“There had been a series of high-profile assassinations of counter-culture figures in the United States in the late sixties, early seventies. By the time Bob Marley’s time came around, we thought subtlety was the order of the day. No more bullets and splattered brains.”

Mr. Oxley says he kept close contact with Marley during the final years of his life, ensuring the medical advice he received in Paris, London and the United States “would hasten his demise rather than cure him.”

“The last time I saw Bob before he died he had removed the dreadlocks, and his weight was dropping like a stone,” he says.

“He was very withdrawn, unbelievably small. He was shrinking in front of us. The cancer had done it’s job.”
Bill Oxley, ex-CIA agent and self confessed killer of Marley

Although widely dismissed as fiction, the account does tally with findings by UK scientists in 2014, who discovered the mysterious acral melanomas – the rare type of skin cancer that caused reggae musician’s demise – was in fact not caused by the sun.

Bob Marley’s soon Ziggy has previously implied his Father was killed, saying in a 2013 interview about the death: “I don’t know what to believe … there are a lot of theories.”

In the late 1970s, Jamaica was flooded with cheap guns, heroin, cocaine, right-wing propaganda, death squad rule and, as Grenada’s Prime Minister Maurice Bishop described it three years later, the CIA’s “pernicious attempts [to] wreck the economy.”

“Destabilization,” Bishop told the emergent New Jewel Party, “is the name given the most recently developed method of controlling and exploiting the lives and resources of a country and its people by a bigger and more powerful country through bullying, intimidation and violence.”

In response to the fascistic machinations of the CIA, Marley wove his lyrics into a revolutionary crucifix to ward off the cloak-and-dagger “vampires” descending upon the island.

The CIA, which has denied any involvement in Marley’s death, has been approached for a comment.

PoliticsHow I Was Sacked For Refusing To Rig Election For PDP In 2015 – Ex-police IG by 8Ebisco(op): 3:33pm On Aug 26, 2018
Former Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba, has revealed why he was sacked by then President Goodluck Jonathan.

Abba claimed that his sudden removal from office in 2015 was due to his refusal to rig elections in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Osun State.

Recalling the circumstances that led to his premature retirement from service, Abba told Daily Trust that, “Believe me, I have always counted myself lucky. I think because of the little background I gave you about the strength of discipline in me, both personal and professional, I received my sack as a normal development. I was not shocked for a reason that I knew it would happen.

“Right from the time I started work as Inspector General of Police, I knew that I may not reach the date of my retirement, which would have been 2019, by which time I would have been 35 years in service and 60 years of age. I am saying this because the very first week I took over, we had the elections in Ekiti, that was August 2014. Arrangements had been made for the election by my predecessor and I think it was the same team that also did the Osun election, it was the same AIG.

“One of the leading stalwarts in the PDP then said to me: ‘IG (you know I was acting then) deliver Osun to us and we will confirm you quickly.’ I was shocked! That was when I knew that I may not last long in the office. Immediately, I said to myself, ‘How could I deliver when I am not an electorate?’ The voters are the ones to deliver, my own was to protect the whole process.

“Of course I said to myself that what happened to one of my predecessors (may his soul rest in peace), Adamu Suleiman, was going to happen to me, maybe I would never be confirmed. He was Inspector General of Police and till he left office he was not confirmed.

“So that is my approach; I accept things the way they come. I said to myself that I was going to leave that office without confirmation; but then, I went to Osun and did what I was supposed to do. Of course, having made up my mind that I wasn’t going to take the dictates of someone on what I had been doing for decades, I went to Osun, addressed the police officers who were very cheerful because they were seeing their IGP for the first time. I told them to go and do what the law protect the electorate, all other stakeholders, INEC officials, observers, and of course, any other person that had the right to be around the polling areas, collation areas.”

CelebritiesMust Read! How A Young Man Was Caught Trying To Use His Mother For Money Ritual by 8Ebisco(op): 11:19pm On Aug 25, 2018
A Nigerian lady simply identified as @cynthybobby on twitter has taken to the platform to narrate a shocking story on how a young Nigerian man was caught trying to use his mother for money ritual.

Read the story below;

RITUAL GONE WRONG▫️

Here’s a thread on how my family friend wanted to use his mum for ritual. READ AND ENJOY.

So this man is my father’s colleague at work, that automatically makes his wife and my mum friends , and we the kids too. Their kids and I went to the same primary school you know how the whole family friend thing works. We are all very close.

Their only son (the mother’s favourite) attended one of the most expensive secondary schools, my dad couldn’t even afford to send us there then. He graduated and got admission into a private university (name withheld). I don’t know what he did, but his admission was terminated.

So they had to send him to another private university, where he met 3 friends. The four of them were very close and inseperable, aspa guy guy They were so desperate to have money…. they decided to go and do money rituals.

They went to one babalawo(best in the game) . Babalawo asked their names, age , school and stuff, you know, getting to know his clients. He then told them that the spirits have heard them and they can go ahead with the rites.

He told the first guy that he would use his father, told the second guy that he would use his sister, told the third to go and bring a mad person and told my family friend that he’d use his mother. Without hesitation the 4 of them Agreed.

When they left, The Babalawo started thinking that this boys are too young (the oldest among them is 23) they attend expensive schools, they really do not lack anything, so what exactly are they looking for?

Babalawo became hesitant (Holyspirit at work) according to him, if the boys were like in their 40’s and they have suffered in life, he would’ve done it for them, but this boys haven’t even experienced shit, they have the time and resources to make it in life.

He then called them to bring the personal details of the person they want to use this includes phone number, photographs and all (the boy to use a mad person would bring the details of any close family member of the mad person as a point of contact) which they did.

NB. I’m going to focus on only my family friend now, same thing applies to all of them.

So, this woman was in her house when her phone rang, the caller( the babalawo) told her that he had serious information regarding her son but that she needs to meet him somewhere to talk

He told her to come with her husband or anybody she wants incase she was scared to meet him alone. Immediately she told her husband and they both went to meet the man where they met the other boys parents too. The babalawo explained everything to them.

At this point, his mother was already shouting, it’s not possible, her son is not capable of that, she knows the child she raised, blah blah blah. The babalawo then said that can she at least pretend as if she didn’t know anything going on so she can see the kind of son she has.

She agreed. Later that evening the babalawo the called the boys that it’s time for the final rite. The D-day is here. The boys got there immediately with hopes that when they leave they’d be “Bill gates”

Unknown to them that their parents were hiding in a room there, the babalawo told them to remove all their clothes which they all did and tied red wrappers. Four of them in their various costumes

It was my family friends turn, he called him out in the shrine and said in Yoruba, “Are you sure that the person’s details before me is your mother?”
He replied – Beeni sir!
He asked again “Are you sure that you’re ready to use your mother no matter the consequences….

….it’ll have on her, be it death?”
Again, without hesitation he shouted “Beeni Sir”

Note that at this point the mother was already shaking in the room.

The third time the man said “Are you sure that you’re ready to meet the needs of the spirits, because….

…there’s no going back?” You guessed it “Beeni sir” The babalawo then said he is going to evoke the spirit of his mother now for the final rite, he went in and brought the mother and asked the boy

“Is this the woman that gave birth to you and the object of sacrifice…

…. who would bring you money?” The boy looking straight into his mother’s face thinking it was her spirit and not the real her without hesitation replied “Beeni sir”

The mother fainted immediately, it took 2weeks and 4days in the hospital before she regained her consciousness. Straight hypertension and stroke. She is aware of everything that happened but it has gotten to her mentally that she’s acting as if nothing happened

My brother called it “Mental denial” her mental state is in-between normal and semi normal. You know when you’re know what’s going on but mentally, you just won’t admit it. Her health has terribly deteriorated. Thank God for prayers and therapy, she’s getting better.

The university got to know and expelled the boys. What happened after I do not know. But i know nobody was arrested.

I know it sounds like a nollywood movie. I never would’ve believed this story if it didn’t happen so close to me. Best believe, things are happening. And this our generation is becoming sth else. Quick money is the trend now, everybody wants to pop champagne for IG. God help us.

And,
NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF A PRAYING MOTHER.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday said that the efforts of defectors and their backers in the opposition will not distract his administration from the good work it has been doing for the benefit and development of Nigeria.

He spoke during lunch with some governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and some members of the National Assembly and Commissioners in Daura, Katsina State.

According to him, his administration is focused in delivering the 2015 campaign promises in the area of improved economy, security and fight against corruption.

Buhari, in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said that the APC has the full understanding of Nigeria’s challenges and was encouraged by the support of Nigerians in addressing them.

He said,

‘‘We are always encouraged when all our constituents are happy with the work we are doing and our genuine efforts to make sure that what we campaigned for in 2015 is still very much in our minds and we have not lost focus.

‘‘In terms of security, economy and the fight against corruption we have maintained focus. Even the opposition with all their resources cannot fault our identification of Nigeria’s priorities and the efforts being made to better them.

‘‘We will continue to do what we ought to do in the leadership position God has placed us and we thank the constituents for the support,” he added

On the defections within the major political parties, Buhari reiterated his earlier message to them: saying ‘‘for those who have decided to change camp for whatever reason, we wish them good luck.’’

CelebritiesBobrisky Appears To Be Pregnant In New Photos by 8Ebisco(op): 4:33pm On Aug 20, 2018
Nigerian cross-dressers, and bleaching advocate, Bobrisky appears to be pregnant in a new photos he shared on his social media page.

In the photo, Bobrisky was clad in a gown that showed his stomach protruded in what can be considered as a sign of pregnancy.

Well, a fan was quick to point that out and reminded other people of the time when Bobrisky told his followers that he was on his period and they all thought it was a lie.

Now the pregnancy, according to the fan, is an evidence that the socialite was actually having menstrual cramps when he also complained about that.

Bobrisky however did not give any reply to the comment and he has not released any statement to confirm the pregnancy rumours.

PoliticsSaraki Has ‘messed Up’ NASS Budget, Must Be Probed – Sen. Adamu by 8Ebisco(op): 7:25am On Aug 20, 2018
Senator from Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Adamu on Sunday accused the Senate President, Bukola Saraki of “messing up” the allocation of the National Assembly.

He therefore called on the appropriate authorities to investigate allocations to the National Assembly in the last couple of years.

Addressing newsmen in Abuja, Adamu alleged that the allocation to the federal legislature has been muddled up under Saraki’s leadership.

According to him, “I call for a forensic audit of the finances of the Parliament which has been thoroughly messed up (under) the President of the Senate Dr Bukola Saraki who is the Chairman of the National Assembly.”

The lawmaker stated that the Senate President’s influence had completely diminished.

Adamu stressed that the only reason Saraki was still the President of the Senate was due to the privileges he enjoyed.

“He has lost the respect and confidence of majority of senators and well-meaning Nigerians, but he’s just latching on to that seat (of Senate President) because of the privileges he enjoys.

“Ordinarily, Saraki needed not wait for any pressure to be mounted on him before he resigns from his position as Senate president.

“You can’t command any respect or assert your authority as a leader when majority of those you’re supposed to lead have lost confidence in you and are opposed to your leadership.

“So, if he’s a self-respecting person, he doesn’t even need anyone to ask that he should throw in the towel because he and his PDP have lost majority in the Senate,” he said.

PoliticsOsinbajo Achieved More In 10 Days Than You Did In Three Years – Omokri Mocks Buh by 8Ebisco(op): 7:24pm On Aug 19, 2018
Reno Omokri, former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has stated that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo achieved more in 10 days as Acting President than President Muhammadu Buhari has done in three years.

Buhari had on August 3 travelled to London for a 10-day vacation.

He, however, returned on Saturday evening after ending his vacation.

However, Omokri has stated that Nigeria would be better served having Osinbajo as President than Buhari.

In a tweet, Omokri stressed that while Buhari was away, Osinbajo took some major actions like the sack of Lawal Daura as Director-General of the Department of State Services, DSS, among others.

He wrote: “In just 10 days of being in office as acting President, VP Osinbajo has achieved more than Buhari has in 3 years.

“He improved the security situation by sacking the incompetent Daura and overhauling SARS. For the first time in months, there were no herdsmen killings and Boko Haram bombings. Why did Buhari have to return?”

Crime19 Nigerians Arrested For Fraud In Kenya [photos] by 8Ebisco(op): 11:07am On Aug 18, 2018
Detectives in Kenya, have arrested 19 Nigerians living in Umoja, Kasarani and Roysambu Estates within Nairobi for engaging in electronic fraud targeting Kenyans.

The suspects who were arrested in the early hours of today, reportedly initiate their scam with a simple Facebook request. According to detectives, after a target accepts the seemingly harmless request, the fraudsters then initiate a friendly chat promising the victim goodies to be sent through DHL at the airport.

The victim who receives a call from someone pretending to be an attendant at the DHL office the next day or thereafter, will then be asked for payment of clearance fees for the promised parcel. After the money is sent through M-Pesa, another call is made requesting for another payment for other documentation and taxes. Once the payments are done, the fraudsters never pick their victims calls again.

CrimeProphetess Nabbed Over Sale Of Day-old Baby by 8Ebisco(op): 9:42am On Aug 17, 2018
The Police Command in Abia has arrested one Amarachi Chinedu, over her alleged involvement in the sale of a one-day-old baby boy in Aba.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Anthony Ogbizi, said in Umuahia on Thursday that the woman was arrested with two others for their alleged involvement in the deal.

The suspect, who claimed to be a prophetess, was arrested with the 17-year-old mother of the baby, Chinanu Monday, and the man who allegedly impregnated her, Promise Lazarus.

Monday told newsmen in an interview that she was delivered of her baby in the home of the prophetess and after the delivery “they took the baby away and sold him.”

She said that she was not involved in the deal as she was not given any money and did not know the buyer and whereabouts of her baby.

“When I was pregnant, Lazarus took me to the woman and she took delivery of the baby in her home.

“After the baby was delivered, they took him away and sold him,” she said.

She said that she took in for Lazarus in December when they both met.

Lazarus and the prophetess, however, denied the allegation and described the girl’s story as baseless.

Lazarus said that he met the girl in March, contrary to her claim that they met in December.

“She told me in April that she was pregnant and I told her that I would come to her parents for introduction with drinks and kola nuts.

“Surprisingly, while I was making plans to visit her parents, policemen came to my house and arrested me, accusing me of child trafficking,” Lazarus said.

The prophetess described the allegation as unfounded, saying that the girl was never pregnant and could not have given birth to a baby.

“I want the girl to be examined by a medical doctor to ascertain if she gave birth to a baby,” she said.

Also in police net are 19-year-old Mary Friday and 20-year-old Chinyere Achonna, who were arrested at an alleged baby factory at Umunkpei in Isialangwa North Local Government Area of the state.

The girls said that they were impregnated by their boyfriends and introduced to the baby factory, where they would be taken care of before their possible dates of delivery.

Mr Paragon Kelechi, 52, who was arrested along with the two expectant mothers, said he took them to Umuahia to be scanned when they were arrested.

Kelechi said that he was asked to assist to take the girls to Umuahia by the owner of the baby factory, popularly known as Mma.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad on Thursday declared that the prices of foodstuff have reduced.

He said this while reacting to a report by the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, claiming that there had been a reduction in the prices of foodstuff recently.

Ahmad claimed that a bag of Maize which was sold for N15, 000 was now selling for between N12,000 to N15,000.

In a tweet, the Presidential aide noted that a measure of maize was now being sold for N120 as against N150.

He also noted that Nigeria’s inflation rate had also fallen from 11.23 to 11.14 percent.

“Prices of food stuff crashes. A survey conducted by NAN in some part of Nasarawa State on Wednesday revealed that the prices of maize and local rice have reduced but that of foreign rice still maintains its rate.

“A bag of maize is now selling for between N13,000 and N12,000 as against N15,500 it was sold last three months, while a measure now costs about N120 down from about N150 previously.

PoliticsRevealed!! Pdp Senators Are Now Sleeping Over At National Assembly Building For by 8Ebisco(op): 8:03pm On Aug 16, 2018
In a funny turn of event, PDP Senators are taking turns to sleep over at the National Assembly Complex to prevent an illegal removal of Senate President Bukola Saraki by their All Progressives Congress (APC) colleagues, a senator revealed yesterday.

Senator Philip Gyunka (PDP Nasarawa North) revealed this yesterday when he presented his letter of intent to contest for Nasarawa State governor, to the leadership of the PDP in the state..
He said:

“I woke up this morning from my night shift and I will still be going back to my night shift. That is to say we are keeping vigil, We are rotating the shift among ourselves. As regards what they are saying about impeachment (removal), it is not possible because the international community is aware of their plot.

Don’t be discouraged. They will intimidate you as they do to us. Like myself, I don’t know how many times they have been calling me. We didn’t know they have come to truncate democracy. But the Senate president, being a product of PDP, has come to the rescue of the the situation. We are keeping watch on their plans.

If they want the Senate President removed, which is impossible they must have two third majorities. They have been attempting and failing. I know they will still make attempts but they will not succeed because I know Nigerians will not allow them to make mockery of the nation’s democracy.

If you hear a lawmaker speaking, he is speaking the minds of thousands of people, how then should someone, who was appointed and has neither gone to the rural areas to feel the pulse of the people, nor held town hall meeting be insisting that a man that was duly chosen by his colleagues be removed at all course.

Oshiomhole (Adams) should be educated that this is not unionism. This is an issue that has to do with the Constitution and we will not allow him to violate it,”

PoliticsBoko Haram: UN Reveals What Makes Sect Stronger by 8Ebisco(op): 10:27am On Aug 16, 2018
The United Nations (UN) has revealed that cash economy is a major factor fuelling the nefarious activities of the Boko Haram and other terrorist groups in the Lake Chad Basin region.

This was contained in the 22nd Report of the Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team, pursuant to resolution 2368 (2017) concerning Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant – ISIL – (Da’esh), Al-Qaida and associated individuals and entities.

UN said: “The predominance in the region of the cash economy, without controls, is conducive to terrorist groups funded by extortion, charitable donations, smuggling, remittances and kidnapping.

“In Nigeria, 111 schoolgirls from the town of Dapchi were kidnapped on 18 February 2018 and released by ISWAP on 21 March 2018 in exchange for a large ransom payment”.

The report was signed by Edmund Fitton-Brown, Coordinator, Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team, who said the report was “comprehensive and independent”, and Kairat Umarov, Chair, Security Council Committee.

The UN Security Council committee on al Qaeda sanctions had blacklisted and imposed sanctions on the Islamist militant group Boko Haram in 2014 after the insurgents kidnapped more than 200 Chibok schoolgirls.

In a Presidential Statement, the 15-member body regretted that Central African countries were beset by ongoing terrorist activity, instability and the effects of climate change, and asked Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to review the work of the UN Regional Office for Central Africa (UNOCA), and recommend areas for improvement.

It read: “The Security Council strongly condemns all terrorist attacks carried out in the region, including those perpetrated by Boko Haram and the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as Daesh).

“These attacks have caused large-scale and devastating losses, have had a devastating humanitarian impact including through the displacement of a large number of civilians in Nigeria, Cameroon and Chad, and represent a threat to the stability and peace of West and Central Africa.

“The Council notes with particular concern the continuing use by Boko Haram of women and girls as suicide bombers, which has created an atmosphere of suspicion towards them and made them targets of harassment and stigmatisation in affected communities, and of arbitrary arrests by security forces.

“The Council emphasises the need for affected States to counter-terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, including by addressing the conditions conducive to the spread of terrorism, in accordance with obligations under international law, in particular international human rights law, international refugee law and international humanitarian law”.

The Security Council welcomed the support provided by UNOCA and the UN Office for West Africa and Sahel (UNOWAS) for the development of a joint regional strategy to address the root causes of the Lake Chad Basin crisis through regular contact with regional leaders.

Politics2019: Saraki Reveals Why He Is Considering Running Against Buhari by 8Ebisco(op): 8:05pm On Aug 15, 2018
Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has admitted he is considering running against President Muhammadu Buhari in next year’s general elections.

Saraki, who recently defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stated this in an interview with Bloomberg on Tuesday in Abuja.

In the last one week, the Senate President has visited ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Military President, Ibrahim Babangida.

“I am consulting and actively considering it. I believe I can make the change.

“The PDP has learnt its lesson from the loss in 2015, and I think unfortunately the APC did not learn from their victory.

“While negotiating with the PDP, we listed a number of issues. We talked about how to sustain and improve the fight against corruption; the issue of providing more powers to the states; inclusion and having a more nationalistic approach on things we do; to continue to improve the environment that will ensure investments.

“We listed a number of items during the discussions with the PDP, and there is a written agreement to that. We trust that we can hold them to that.

“We would ensure that the party is strong on security. The APC too have not done well on the issue of security. We have the opportunity with the right kind of presidential candidate and president to provide the leadership for the party. The party has a good opportunity to lead the country in the right direction,” Saraki said.

PoliticsBukola Saraki In Trouble As Buhari’s Campaign Organisation Blows Hot… Threatens by 8Ebisco(op): 11:18am On Aug 13, 2018
The battle for control of the Senate is set to take a more violent turn as a campaign group for President Muhammadu Buhari, vowed to take over the National Assembly complex.

The Buhari Campaign Organisation, a campaign group for President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, vowed to physically take over the National Assembly complex if Senate President, Bukola Saraki does not resign from office.

According to Vanguard, the plot to storm the National Assembly was revealed yesterday by co-ordinator of the Buhari Campaign Organisation, Danladi Fasali in Abeokuta, Ogun State during the inauguration of the state secretariat of the Buhari support group.

The BCO national coordinator, who did not disclose the day and time they would invade the National Assembly, said: “We, the Buhari Campaign Organization, are saying that the Senate President, Bukola Saraki should take a bow and resign honourably.

“He should also be mindful of what happened and how Senator Godswill Akpabio resigned because the position he was holding in the National Assembly is zoned to the PDP, and immediately he left the party, he honourably resigned.

“We expect Saraki to do that. But, we are assuring him that the BCO will take over the National Assembly if he continues to demonstrate his impunity. He lacks the sense of direction and he wanted to truncate the present democracy.

“We are assuring you that before their resumption date, if nothing is done, the BCO will take over the National Assembly.”

The vow by the group has been backed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) which said though in support of the group’s intent, it would not join in mobilising for the showdown.

Supporting the invasion plan, the APC speaking through its Acting National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena said the wish of the people should be respected in a democracy. According to him, if the people have decided to march on the National Assembly, that they were within their rights to so do.

“It is the wish of the people and there is nothing anybody can do about that. If the people are saying Saraki must resign, that is their wish. But the party itself will not stage a protest to the NASS,” Nabena said.

Insisting that he would keep his promise to spend only a tenure in office, Atiku said: “My own case will be different.

CelebritiesI Don’t Mind My Gospel Music Being Played In Nightclubs – Sinach by 8Ebisco(op): 7:20am On Aug 12, 2018
Did you know you would become a celebrated singer from the onset?

I didn’t even think singing was a career. When I joined the choir, I didn’t know any famous choir singer to tell me that singing in the choir could make me famous. I didn’t start with a band or start with a branded identity; so, I will say that becoming a famous singer is simply by God’s grace.

Was music all you wanted to do as a child?

Growing up as a child, I had flashes of dreams of being a singer because I have always loved singing and everyone around me felt I could sing as well. But, to be honest with you, I didn’t think I would end up as a singer. I strongly believe God designed my life for me.

Why did you settle for gospel music?

Like I said earlier, God has a hand in what I do today; doing gospel music is God’s choice for me. It’s important we realise that God created us for a purpose and it is very important for everyone to find that purpose and fulfill it. So, I will say I yielded to God’s purpose for my life.

I have been singing in the church since 1989, though it started as a hobby. I initially planned to leave the country after studying Physics at the University of Port Harcourt in Rivers State, but Pastor Chris Oyakhilome invited me to serve in the ministry. But for him, I might not have discovered my gift. Also, serving in the church has given me a solid foundation that helps me stand strong.

How would you describe Pastor Chris’ impact on your life?

He is my mentor, life coach and a spiritual father to my husband and I.

How would you describe your childhood?

I had a very beautiful childhood experience. My parents taught me a lot of things, which formed the bedrock of who I am today. I can also remember my formative years in the house of God; it has also played a vital role in my life up to this moment.I am the second daughter of seven children. I am from Ebonyi State.

When did you become a born-again Christian?

I got born again many years ago when I was younger and I have experienced increasing grace and favour since then. The Bible says He takes us from glory to glory.

As a kid, who were your role models?

My biggest role models have always been my parents. My dad was a man of conviction and my mum is a woman filled with so much wisdom and love. I inherited my father’s tenacity, and deep love for people and God. I also have my mother’s wisdom, her ability to organise, create things and to see beyond the ordinary. I miss my dad, but I am so blessed and happy that I still have my precious mum with me.

Which of your songs is so dear to you?

This is a very difficult question for me to answer. All the songs God has blessed me with are very dear to me. I am a fan of my songs. They bless me and have ministered to me at different times in my life. For instance, I Trust in You is a prayer song that gave me the strength I needed during a certain time in my life.

Do you agree that I Know Who I Am is your biggest song so far?

I am not sure I understand your definition of ‘biggest’, but I will say God has enlarged my music at different levels in different languages, networks, territories and places.

For instance, on Youtube, Way Maker has over 65 million views while I Know Who I Am has about 40 million views. Way Maker has been remixed by different people in different nations and in different languages. Also, Great Are You Lord is sung in almost all languages in churches around the world.

My point here is this — naming a song as the biggest hit so far is very relative to the science we use in measuring it. We may get to heaven and God gives accolades to my song you probably have never heard of. However, my next song is always my favourite because it is new to me.

How did you get the inspiration for I Know Who I Am?

I wrote it during my preparation for a youth concert in 2012. The idea was to create an upbeat track that could excite youths. It was done, but I didn’t perform it at the event for some reason. Later, when I was doing a live recording in South Africa, I included it. The song has been well received all over the world.

What has been the secret of your rise?

In my song, No One Knows, one of the lines says, “Your favour surrounds me like a shield, your love amazes me, your grace has lifted me!” In other words, God’s mercy, favour and unusual grace have made my life so beautiful. My mentor, Pastor Chris said that God’s grace has come into our lives to prove that the word of God can make your life beautiful no matter where you come from or your environment! That’s always my testimony and message; God is a way maker.

My love for God and fellowship with Him has sweetened my life. He leads me in the path I should go, which is living a God’s purposeful life. If you find yourself living a life of purpose for Him, you will be successful. Even if I were called to do something else, I would still rise to the zenith.

However, putting your life in God’s hand doesn’t mean you should not be diligent; improve yourself and seek to become the best at what you do. Quality and excellence are important ingredients for success, and they are products of diligence.

How will you feel if your music is played at a nightclub?

Recently, a friend sent me a video of my song being played at a club. I noted from the reaction that they were singing along as they listened to the music. When you produce the right music with the right lyrics, people will look for it. Everyone needs encouragement, love and inspiration. My music is powerful and when people listen to my music, they will get inspired.

What are your concerns for the gospel music industry?

I don’t have concerns but rather I am excited about how far we have come and what is ahead. Gospel music is a form of entertainment, but it also inspires with the right message. When properly showcased in every available platform to reach as many people as possible, it can encourage and inspire people to move in the right direction. I believe that my music has the right content to make an impact in the lives of both the young and old people globally.

Many people, especially the youth, have lost hope in the environment, leaders and the Nigerian system. Many youths have lost their minds and some are taking the easy way out through suicide, quick money, immorality and drugs. But gospel music can heal hopeless souls.

Do you think gospel music can ever be appreciated as much as secular music in Nigeria?

Absolutely, yes I think so. We have many people who listen to gospel music because it means good news. The number increases daily more than you can imagine.

With your busy schedule, how do you make time for your family?

I prioritise well. When you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Also, my husband is my biggest supporter; his encouragement is a great help to me. He is not afraid to let me shine and he is always happy when I excel. My husband is a precious gift

Do you see yourself quitting music to focus on other things in the near future?

The most important thing is fulfilling God’s purpose for my life. He leads, I follow.

What is your biggest fear in life?

I don’t have fears and I don’t have regrets either. I have fewer challenges because I have a team behind me. I am blessed because I belong to a good ministry and I am always around good people.

If music had failed, what would you have settled for?

With God, there are no failures. I couldn’t have failed as God doesn’t sponsor flops.

What are those things you still wish to achieve?

I currently have lots of philanthropic works going on in different parts of the world; I will make them public soon. Also, I receive requests from different parts of the world for mentorship. By God’s grace, September this year, I will debut the ‘Sinach Mentors, Live initiative.’

How does your success story make you feel?

As an individual, regardless of your success, there is always something more you like to achieve. There’s no resting on my oars as God ministers songs and lyrics to me all the time. To whom much is given, much is expected.

People know me everywhere I go; so, it’s hard sometimes when I want to have private moments with my husband or loved ones. Fans will always approach one for pictures and I understand their excitement. I feel surprised when I go to a country I have never been to and they know my songs.

How do you handle criticisms?

If you are not doing something good, nobody will criticise you. Criticism is a sign that you are making an impact and influencing lives. Though I do not dwell on negative criticisms, I pay attention to constructive criticisms. I am so blessed to be surrounded with valuable and Godly mentors who continuously offer positive and constructive criticisms.

When do you regard as your lowest and highest points in life?

I don’t have any lowest point. Of course, challenges arise, but God knows the way through the wilderness and walking with Him keeps you flying high.

I have high points every day. When I read comments, posts and see what the Lord is doing with the gift He has given me, those are special moments for me and I experience them daily.

What has fame changed about you?

Fame has made me realise more than ever before that we are the living epistles of the Lord Jesus Christ because you’ve got the whole world watching.

How do you cope with pressure and demands that come with fame?

Once you always have the right people around you, and you are always in the right place at the right time, life becomes easy for you.

How do you get inspiration for your songs?

I am a servant of the people; so, I try to service their needs. I have realised that everybody needs encouragement as there is so much going on in today’s world. My music comes from the sermons I hear from my pastor. I grew up in the church and it inspires what I do.

What advice will you give to young gospel singers?

They need to remember that they are Christians first and artistes second. All gospel artistes need to serve in the church so as to receive discipleship. Some of them are not strong Christians, which explains why they fall into certain traps and the media blows it up. But failing in one area doesn’t mean they are not Christians. The grace of God covers our sins and restores us; so, we shouldn’t be too hard on them also.

I always tell young artistes to know their season. If something does not work for you at the moment, there is no need to force it. They need to know when to wait and when to move.

Also, they should know that excellence commands attention. You have to work hard to be the best at what you do. Artistes need to believe in their talents and invest their own money into their music. It is not always wise to depend on sponsors to get you to the next level.

How do you relax?

Music relaxes me. Also, I like to sit in my garden, listen to the birds chirping and enjoy the freshness of nature. I spend a lot of time with my family and loved ones too and I cherish it a lot.

What is your favourite food?

That will be my husband’s delicacies; he has some special recipes for me. Those special moments when the Lord ministers to him, I love his delicacies.
