I think I get your drift: The treatment would involve injecting thousands of pre-treated cells with re-designed receptors, however, any slip up in receptor modification (even if it were a few cells among several thousands during production) could easily result in aberrant marauding cells attacking/invading normal tissue leading to cancer.

Besides, this novel approach does not seem to me to be all that radically different from the vaccine approach since both rely on recognition and attachment via specific receptor sites thereby immobilizing the virus for final onslaught by killer cells or macrophages.

Maybe there is more to the story than actually meets the eye but as at now the concept of the Magic Bullet (i.e. almost 100% high specificity and efficacy)is largely a myth - nonetheless we shall remain hopeful and in prayer for such a cure for the sake of the many afflicted by Allah's grace. Amin.
