I don't think you guys should be getting all off pissed with the Bertrand transfer. What you guys should be asking is if Ryan will ever feature in Jose's first team or even the bench |

True! Chelsea`s gaffer Jose Mourinho has unleashed media outbursts instigating there has been a campaign against Chelsea, without adequately detailing his claims. From the accusations, I decided to think aloud, and see if someone can help think with me. These thoughts will delve into numerous assumptions and backing from the records available. In so to say, this will be part1. 1 Manager of the Month A full EPL season will normally have 9 months of action and so do 9 Manager of the Month accolades. Mourinho has been managing Chelsea between 2004 and 2007, before his second spell, which commenced in 2013. In these two stints, he has collectively managed Chelsea for a sum of 20+15=35 (August 2004 to September 2007 + August 2013 to January 2015) months. Throughout his tenure with Chelsea, he has won 2 EPL, 1 FA, 2 League Cups and 1 FA Community Shield, totaling to 6 trophies. Despite these remarkable feats in his 35 months of EPL actions, FA has awarded him the Manager of the month, merely 3 times (November 2004, January 2005 and March 2007). Clearly this doesn`t convince factoring Chelsea`s comparative performances. For instance, no team has been playing scintillating footie than Chelsea in the first three months of reigning season. Take for example a month August 2014, which the award went to Garry Monk (Swansea) and November 2014(Alan Pardew). In August, Swansea scooped 9 points, scoring 6 and conceding 1; Chelsea accumulated 9 points, scoring 11 and conceding 4 in the process. In November, Newcastle accrued 9 points, scoring 4 and conceding 1; while Chelsea ended up with 10 points, 6 goals for and 2 against. Clearly Chelsea had supremacy in either points, and, goal difference in both occasions. Why was it not awarded to Jose? 2. Player of the Month. Chelsea players` tops 4 categories in this EPL season so far. Diego Costa leading the scoring charts with 17 goals, Cesc Fabregas, mesmerizing the assist league with 15 assists while Nemanja Matic tops the EPL tackling with the highest number (64). If squawka is to be undoubted, then it rates Eden Hazard as the EPL`s season`s top most performer with a score 1,074. With all these superior stats, Chelsea players don`t produce player-of-the-month-elect often. The only player to won it this time is Diego Costa (August 2014), and last time a Chelsea player won it was Juan Mata (October 2012). It beats common understanding, why ever-blazing Eden Hazard`s hasn`t ever won Player of the Month Award, while he has been the EPLs most enthralling player over three seasons? 3. Penalty Decisions. Chelsea is playing very incisive attacking footie, arguably, sublime than any other EPL team this season. One can tell from the number of goals scored (52) which is higher than Man City (46), Arsenal (44), Man Utd (39) and Southampton (37). Of 52 goals Chelsea scored, 49 (94%) were scored from inside 18 yard box and only 3 from outside. Man City scored 39 (80%), Arsenal 41(93%), Man Utd (82%) and Southampton 34 (92%) from inside 18 yard. Out of 52 goals again, 46 have been scored using feet and only 6 were headers. Logically, Chelsea will be the most inviting team in the penalty box, due to the pattern of play they deploy. It surprises to see Man City has been awarded the most penalties (5), jointly with Arsenal. In that penalty-award league, Chelsea comes in position 13 with 2 penalties in their favour. Is there any football term to explain this? Logics have failed to do so. 4. Discipline Speaking of team discipline, onus has always been on Diego Costa and the way he conducts himself inside the playfield. Both referees and players have allowed reputation to supersede their biasness. You will see how opposition defenders have deployed "no-nonsense" approach when playing against him. From the 24 matches he has so far played, he has been fouled 32 times (a foul after every 67 Min of play). In return, he has made 31 fouls, which somehow is a measure of a man in retaliation mood. Apart from Costa, Chelsea front men have suffered harsh treatment from defenders throughout the season. Eden Hazard has suffered the highest number of fouls than any other player in the EPL this season. In EPL he has suffered 68 fouls (a foul in every 29.9 Min), and 102 in all the competitions (a foul in every 27.09 Min). Willian has suffered 34 fouls, while Fabregas has suffered same number of fouls (32) and same number of Yellow Cards ( as Diego Costa has. In EPL, the second most fouled player is Rahim Sterling, suffering 59 fouls. If you ask me who (between Hazard and Sterling) get preferential treatment/protection from the referees, my reply will be Rahim Sterling. Why? Is it because he is younger? Is it because he is Englishman? Is it because he plays for a "dear" club? Take Wayne Rooney`s discipline records for instance. Rooney gets a card after every 4.30 games, while Costa has been getting one after every 2.96 games. Both are forward players, respective national team talisman and short tempered. Why Rooney is not getting a fair amount of sticks? Again, Is it because he is Englishman? Is it because he plays for another "dear" club? 5. Press antics For most of what Chelsea have achieved during the past 11 years of Abramovich`s tenure, press has been overboard and associated it with "fat wallet". Myth was any team capable of outnumbering the rest in transfers and lucrative wage bills would automatically have trophies to pick from. This cap fitted Chelsea well and the pressure was always on them to deliver. Looking at recent trends, Chelsea`s appetite to comply with FFP has excoriated its spending. For instance, in 2014-15 season transfers (including January 2015 window), Chelsea has spent £145.5m for inbound players and gained £59.5m from players` sales. So they had a net spending of £23.1m. Man United spend £145.5m to bring in players and sold players worth £19.6m, thus net spending was £125.9m. Arsenal spent £92.9m whilst gaining £15m (net £77.9m); Man City inbounds were £81m, outbound £23m (net spending £58m); Liverpool inbounds was £113m while outbound was £78m (net £35m, thanks to Suarez who fetched £75m lone). Wage bills presents quite a twist, as for the first time in as many as 10 years, Arsenal has higher annual wage bill (£180m) than Chelsea`s (£176m). Man Utd also got an edge over Man City and have become the new Champions of the wage-bill-league. Both are paying over £200m annually. Now that Chelsea is league leader (from day go of this season), yet with scathed spending-impetus, I expected jury to be on Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City. Their revived spending prowess was expected to equally put them under constant pressure, in the same scales as the one exerted to Chelsea. Unfortunately, not every wish is granted, especially when you fancy Chelsea and when common sense is not common. Penalty Decisions.what about united with zero penalties dis season? is dia a campaign against dem too? 4. DisciplineWayne Rooney has never started a game as a forward dis season ,he is currently being used in midfield by LVG ...Costa plays football like it's wrestling ,not to blame him though ,he inherited it from Diego Simeone who apparently sets up his players as beasts in any match played ...something which recently cost dem dia copa del rey spot to barca... |
