Stupid talk, because you are employed means you should be maltreated and not talk. Whoever accepts that for awhile will talk when he begins to get oppressed. The bottom line line is that there should be mutual respect and understanding, don't promise what you cannot give, and drs should stand by their oath, but the oath also says they should be treated with respect and fairly.
do you visit public hospitals? I guess NO. These doctors act like gods and some even have their own private hospitals and they get paid more than their counterparts in other professions. Lagos State hasn't got what the FG has. If they want to be paid the salary of their counterparts employed by the FG, why don't they seek employment in Federal Government owned hospitals? They were just greedy and they paid for it.

fm7070: let's see how tough the doctors are here.
... or have they given up their struggle?
No, they have been humbled. This will serve as a warning shot to all doctors in Nigeria. You are indispensable. How foolish could they be for saying they are doing humanitarian service and still leave people to their sickness to strike because they want to earn like the politicians when they could have joined politics! Let them make noise again. Wicked set of individuals entrusted with human lives. They wont strike for poor facilities. They are a disgrace to the medical profession. Sigh

This is really hilarious, humbled?Look closer, the doctors will eventually get what they want, fashola wanted to play hardball and he had to blink first. Its easy to pontificate now, i'm sure people like you will be one of the first to shout if they go on strike for facilities in a coouple of months. Going by your logic you want them to up and leave and work for the FG?well the same could apply, people complaining about these Drs can leave Lagos and live in states paying conmess or must people live in lagos too? The government messed up big time and is now on a face saving venture.
Truths about Fashola flying his father out of the country for care broke in the press hence this sudden 'change of heart'.
These whole trouble will only make Drs more resolute. Hope the govt learns the importance of honouring agreements signed.
It is obvious people won't support another strike hence this battle will be fought till the last penny is paid by the government. There may not be any more strikes after this so this one must yield its desired results. To think a more diplomatic approach would have worked. . . .shame on LASG.

What you've said above is still one of the problems that the medical profession has, you see most doctors i know that are not in states paying the latest salary scale are just trying to switch to the nearest federal hospital. It means they have a job but their mind is not in it and therefore cannot give their best, because you see doctors are human beings and not santa clause. Even here in the UK doctors would be going on strike next month the 21st precisely and its also about their package. I agree that relative to other professions in naija doctors are paid well but coming to think of it, this relative comparisons hides a simple fact; FG's pay-scale for public servants is just poor. 18k as minimum wage and some states are not even paying that, while senators are paid 4times as much as the president of US.

Biggyd2: Again it took Tinubu for "something" to be done? Or was it the threat of NUPENG and other bodies joining in the strike? Please this is step one. Bottom-line is, will he still keep to the terms of the agreement that he signed with they doctors?

Lesson from this - Our leaders cannot rule in isolation so long as we have agreed that we are in a "democracy"

Pls tell that to Odechukwu Retardeen and his cohorts first

Masterstroke by Fashola. Now those doctors are going to look utterly evil if they still hold out on returning to work as soon as possible. In the struggle to get them reinstated, most people have forgotten the crux of the matter...full CONMESS abi! The issue became about how Fashola sacked the entire workforce. Now he has shifted ground,

The Doctors and Government shall all answer to God for every life lost by their "playing God". Not just in the life but beginning here on earth. Their attempt @ giving excuses (however intellectually logical) to justify & absolve themselves will not hold water because God who sees d hearts of each person (each stakeholder in this mass murder) will judge accordingly!

Granted the doctors shouldn't have embarked on the so called warning strike but did our amiable and intelligent governor not think about the consequence before sacking the doctors in one fell swoop? Now they have all been recalled after all the propaganda from both sides....but at what cost;after how many deaths? Both the doctors and the LASG has failed the populace...especially the govt!

For your information, with this singular act, Fashola has put the doctors on the defensive. Even among their ranks, their will be discordant tunes. Majority of them will chicken out at this point and opt to return to work. Don't forget that in every labor struggle, there are always fifth columnist....The government only needs to identify them and the strike is history grin

Do we need any more evidence that the government's case has been based on lies all along?
Waging a war against Drs on the pages of newspapers. This ''total recall'' is just evidence that they have run out of ideas and trying to save face.
Recalling does not rule out the fact that it was illegal. Now they can return to negotiation about the real reason for the strike and the ''sack'' issue can be put to rest.
Doctors i'm sure will not return to work till that is sorted out as another strike will be difficult.

I wish to commend the governor for having the courage to correct his mistake. The damage done to the health sector may take years to repair. The earlier he implements the CONMESS the better. Some of the medical specialists and academics have been offered appointments in foreign institutions and teaching hospitals. He should never allow his personal ego to affect his sense of judgement again.

We need to be very objective no matter whose as.s is at stake. The same government of Fashola signed with paper and ink the salary in dispute about a year ago before the elections only to renege on its payment after they won the elections. Even if there was change in the leadership of the state, the new government is duty bound by the agreement reached by the previous administration since we all know that government is a continuum.
Just imagine that the leadership of Lagos had changed from ACN to PDP after the agreement was signed and the PDP government refused to pay we would have been crying and shouting that the PDP government is bad.
To add insult to injury, the doctors gave the government a notice of warning strike only to be served queries after the warning strike which eventually lead to the indefinite strike and the purported dismissal of the over 700 doctors.
Let me also add that the state government must have seen that they were heading for disgrace at the industrial court as the salary in dispute was duly signed by state government. The recall of the doctors to me is a face saving attempt by the government to hide their inconsistencies.
When issues like this happens especially issues that bothers on trust, the masses should be very objective. If a government can renege on a signed contract and agreement how much more will they not turn their backs on the same masses who they only promised to bring dividends of democracy by words of month.
The issue in Lagos is not about wage or salary increase, it is about a government deceiving the people for political gains which was the last elections in this case.

You are gbasky for the comment, let us see GEJ been prevailed upon by the PDP to rescind any of his blind decisions. Fashola here has shown maturity and distinguished scholarship to harken to his party; in lawless PDP, no Governor can be prevailed upon not to talk of the clueless GEJ. Long-live Lagos State and ACN

It is the government that will lose if they don't call them back. Why did fashola agreed with them when they strike before his second term. Let's see if he would have made it then.
I bet it, more serious strike will soon start if government refuse to cooperate with them.
