Pls i need medical advice on this issue, a friend of mine has been doing her monthly menstrual period for about four weeks now & it has not stop. What could be the cause and the posible solutions to this ailment?

Fibroid, hormonal issues, ectopic pregnancy, botched abortion etc

@ Poster, This can also be a cause Endometriosis. I doubt if our doctors can diagnose it yet in Nigeria (maybe). Endometriosis is a gynecological medical condition in which cells from the lining of the uterus (endometrium) appear and flourish outside the uterine cavity, most commonly on the ovaries. Symptoms often worsen with the menstrual cycle.

endometritis can be diagnosed and treated in nigeria.
@OP, there could be many causes of the extended bleeding that ur friend is having, u need to tell us the age of ur friend, if there is associated lower abdominal pains and is she on any contraceptives?

Thanks 4 the replies. She is not on pills and does not feel any abdominal pains. She is 24 years of age but she always had her period for 2-3 days and not the normal 5 days.
