good morning beautiful mamas pls help, my LO sweats alot.even when fan is at it's highest he still sweats.its only when he is in an air conditioned place that he doesn't sweat.could it be his weight?.he is 5 months 3 weeks weighing 8.5kg.or taking from his dad who sweats too but not as much as he does.he doesn't have any health issues.pls shsould I continuew to be worried.pls I await ur response. thank you

How many layers of clothes does he wear at any given time? That may be the cause if he's thickly dressed. Sweating is normal in this heat period that we are undergoing. I don't think its an issue for now. You can try to Bathe him with lukewarm water as opposed to hot water.

I hope you don't mind but your post just made me realise how much we sometimes have to pay as child care costs around here!

I imagine you also had someone to do the house chores in addition to nanny's fees and creche fees.

This is probably because one cant fully entrust the children into nanny's hands alone, for security and abuse reasons.

Makes me wonder if we mums should bother being in paid employment with children below secondary school age!

You are quite right, I had and still have a house help.

At a point, I considered resigning, but I didn't. In my heart of hearts, I knew I'd still need both ladies.

The things we do and go through for the kids eh.

Honestly there should be an option of paid reduced hours or compensation for mothers at home but Nigeria is actually very anti-family and once you decide to stay home, your gist may end up in NL Family section as a topic grin

After the birth of my first child, I actually begged HR for this option. I asked for a year's leave, without pay. Sadly, I was refused. It was either I resign, or resume after my maternity leave.

It was quite depressing.

Super Mummy's I hail oo..Pls I hv a question, one of my friends has a one month plus baby girl, she initially wanted 2 o EBF but couldn't cos d baby ets a lot n crys a lot when hungry, so she started with formular yet she wasn't oky with d formular. They introduced watery pap to her with formular or it to sustain her for a while, but friend also adds glucose to the pap nd milk each time she wants to feed her, I was not comfortable with d glucose stuff, buh I want to research for her..Experienced Mothers should tell me if glucose solution is safe for a baby of less dan 2 months..Thanks

Pls and pls they shld stop d pap immediately. Pap at 1month?! I m yet to see dat baby dat isnt satisfied wt formular. Even d breast milk alone s enough, just dat she doesn't hv d strength to b breastfeeding on demand. BT saying formulae isn't enuf is false. She shld increase both d frequency and qty of feeds. Not every cry by a baby means hunger. Dats d only language they know so that s wot they use to communicate.

Hi,
As other mamas have said, tell her to please please please stop the pap and glucose immediately.

Babies stomachs and intestines are very tender at that age that is why it is recommended that they are fed either breastmilk or infant formula only if they are less than 4 months at the earliest. ( or ideally 6 months ) as these are designed to be easily digested.

She could actually be making the baby cry more as she may develop digestive issues such as constipation, and excess trapped wind as her system struggles to digest pap and the excess sugar.

A few questions:
1) what does she mean by always eating?
.... as a guide, newborns and babies up to 3 months. tend to feed on average every 2- 4 hours.... that is if she starts feeding at 10am, she may want another feed by 12pm. The maximum time between each feed should not exceed 4 hours especially for younger babies if on breast milk.. so for a new mum, that feels like your baby is always plugged on.
I have and am sure most mums here will have also experienced times when the feeding is like every hour. And it can be very stressful.

She can either try expressing and feeding with a bottle that way you can guage the quantity the baby is eating per feed.

Also she can try alternating the breastfeeeding with formula.

she can also get someone else (hubby/ mother/ MIL/ nanny) to help feeding the baby with the bottle so she can get a break. Sometimes a little time off can help lower stress levels in the mum which would help as baby may also be picking up on her stress.....

2) Is the LO latching on properly? If not she may not be sucking effectively. However before mum starts panicking see question 3 below:

3) Is the baby putting on weight ?
.....Your friend should have her lo weighed once a month at a baby clinic to check she is within the normal range and is putting on a good amount of weight. Sometimes that is all you need to reassure yourself that you are producing enough milk and that your baby is feeding well and getting all she needs.

4) has she ruled out wind/ colic?
... this may also be a reason for the crying. She can try anti-colic remedies as these may help calm baby's tummy.

5) Finally, has she ruled out non- feeding related elements, i.e.Babies can only communicate with crying.... so it may not always be feeding related.

is the baby hot?
How many layers of clothes is the baby wearing... we tend to over wrap babies in naija however bear in mind that babies cant sweat effectively at that age and tend to loose heat only through their heads, so make sure she is not wearing a hat, Or has too many layers on . If you are wearing only bubu and sweating , you can be sure that that baby is probably cooking under the vest, onsies and branket that she wrapped in.

Also Is her nappy wet or soiled? Each baby feels wetness differently and her lo may just be more sensitive to wettness. She may want to time her nappy changes with feeds.

Or does she just want to be carried? Everyone loves a cuddle....

There are a few trial and errors she will need to do to get the right routine that works for her baby, she should try to stay calm and I wish her all the best.

Cold water.

If using the milton tablets, dissolve one whole tablet per 5 litres of water, and place the items to be sterilised and leave for 15 mins minimum. Make sure items are fully immersed.
Change the solution after 24 hrs.

If you are not sterilizing alot, 5 litres can be lot of water! You can break the tablets along the division lines and use a quarter tablet per 1.25 litres or half tablet per 2.5 litres in a smaller containers. Leave for 15 mins minimum and change solution after 24 hrs... this ensures you do not waste water or the tablets un-necesarily.

I'm surprised your baby isn't gaining enough weight with Similac formula. Aside being the most expensive formula in the market, it also has the highest nutritional contents compared to others esp the fat content. Most babies on Similac are obese. Why? Because Similac is light unlike enfamil and others that're thick so a baby on Similac isn't satisfied fully even after taking it. So most babies on Similac feed more often than others to really get full. You can't do ijebu with Similac oh else baby will starve.
If you were doing 2 hours feed for your baby, reduce it by 30 mins and you'd see how your princess will finish the next formula.

You can get cereals for 4-6 months ( start with rice) then make it watery and watch babies tolerance for 3 days before introducing any other. If you have a good source for pap - babies usually love it.

I can only advice that you keep offering variety of meals. Ensure its warm and as fresh as possible. Try indomie with minimal spice and shredded chicken. Add vegetables to the rice. Maybe you can package swallow for her depending on what her daycare arrangements are like.

Keep trying she will eventually come round!

Hi mamas, I gave birth last month, I had tears. I had s£x with my husband yesterday but I couldn't feel his kini inside me. The place is so wide. I'm just wondering whether it's going to tighten up back. I even tried to drag my vjayjay in [the way you try to stop urine halfway while urinating]but I couldn't. I felt ashamed. He didn't even come, so you can imagine how wide my vjayjay is now.
After so many minutes, he stood up and said, I'm not properly healed.

I'm sure the stitches didn't break cos I used lukewarm water for sitz bath, after 2 weeks, I saw small thread. Or am I wrong. Or is it that I wasn't properly stitched?

Please I need reply thanks
This is my second child

Thanks

Sorry for being too raw
