I beg to differ. The problem is that in our culture, the first child is usually 'contained' if you will. For a child to develop into an intelligent, brilliant and active child they have to be given room to explore their environment and learn from stimuli and stuff. Unfortunately, in many/most cases the first child is deprived of these necessities in a bid to teach them self control and discipline. I'm no scientist but I believe my opinion is true.

I disagree. In addition to freshdude's points, I've noticed that sometimes first borns act as test tubes for a family n sometimes do not have the same opportunities the younger ones may have, possibly due to finance. Y'u no 1st borns typically come when the family is just starting.

I also do not think any child is more brilliant than any other as every child is blessed with individual talents n personalities. A child may not excel in maths but may b fantastic in art...does ds mean the child who's mathematically savvy is more brilliant than the artist? I vote No but Yes, mayb in Naija embarassed where book knowledge is the only type dt counts

D 1st born seems to have few pple to relate with because of d position occupied, while d 2nd born have many pple to relate with, especially d elder sibling, but not in all cases o.

1st borns, in most cases are used as experiment in d way they are being brought up and as a result of lack of parental experience d parents are involved in, whereas, by d time d 2nd born comes, enough experience would have been acquired, hence, better way of bringing them up.
