Otedola Denied Releasing Audio Tape To Media House by scopusng(m): 10:19am On Jul 09, 2012
A member of the House of Rresentatives Ethics and Privileges Committee, Hon. Ibrahim Bello at the weekend said that Chairman Zenon Oil, Mr. Femi Otedola denied releasing the audio tape of his purported telephone conversation with Hon Farouk Lawan to media station.Bello, who disclosed this to newsmen said when the committee asked Otedola that how does the media station got the audio tape, the Oil Magante quickly denied releasing state and also claimed that he had never discuss it with anyone.

The Lawmaker said: “When we asked him about the audio clip, he told us to even summon the media house and demand how they came about the tape.

“He denied the audio clip. All he said at the meeting was that Farouk Lawan lied four times and that’s all. What I am saying is on record and we have it.

It will be recalled that the House Committee is probing the $620,000 bribe for-clearance allegation between Lawan and Otedola.

Otedola has accused Lawan, the chair of the House ad-hoc committee that probed the subsidy management fund of demanding bribe to get his company’s name off the list of those who got foreign exchange but imported no fuel.

Bello, however, said rules are meant to be followed, irrespective of status, which is responsible for the insistence of the Committee to hold its sessions behind closed-doors

He said: “Nobody can come and bend our rules. We don’t have any business with Otedola. I said it before his lawyer, who told him not to talk with us and answer our questions. He was only a witness before us and we told him categorically. We have ten lawyers in the ethics and privileges committe

“But he came with a Senior Advocate who sat beside him and told him not to answer our questions. He didn’t know that Otedola was only a witness before us and we told him categorically

“But the position of the Nigerian law as at today is that he who gives graft and he who receives are both culprits. You are not a member of the parliament and you were alleged to have given one of us something which is illicit, then, you are the best person to come before the Committee and tell us the true position of what transpired before you and him”.

Bello said the importance of the case would not give room for laxity as the integrity of the House as an institution is at stake.

“This particular issue is a unique case. As a committee, our business is the conduct of affairs of our members. But this matter is unique because it involves somebody who gave and somebody who took. The allegation is that somebody who is not a parliamentarian gave to a parliamentarian.

“And we in the parliament want to ascertain the veracity of the claim. Are we going to import a demon to come and find out what transpired between Otedola and Lawan?”

“It’s a matter whereby the onus is on Otedola to come before us and give us justification testifying to the fact that truly he gave Lawan graft because he is an accused person too by virtue of our laws. So, can you see the fallacy in this country? We don’t know who is protecting the accused person here.

“He (Lawan) came and we interrogated him for almost four hours after giving his testimony he left, with the arrangement that whenever we need his presence he will come back. Now he (Otedola)is insisting that we should go into a public hearing”.

I don't know but something tells me that there is more to meet the eye in this issue. Some question need to be addressed here: first, why would a certain Otedola want to implicate Farouk? Second, was Otedola's company i.e. Zenon oil part of d cabal that ruin our petroleum subsidy program. Third, is National Assembly loosing sight of d big picture.

Because, I don't really care who offer or who receive d bribe....its a show of shame that will still continue no matter who get caught or not...as a matter of fact, they are still making their dubious deal as we speak....but National Assembly must not loose sight of d bigger picture here....d cabal need to be punish for the atrocities they commited over d years....they are d reason I can't on my generator throughout d night!

What does who released the Media tape have to do with the issue? We should be asking why FARCROOK took money to doctor such a report instead of who released the tape. How is that news? The conversation took place, now what next?

ROTFLMA @ the level of confusion ravaging NA. . . . lmao.

Odetola 1 : Farouk 1

Their main goal; by the time they're done with this case, ordinary citizen won't be much interesting in its proceedings. Some sort of diversion from the real subsidy case hmmm

See as this man is talking as if what Otedola says there can't be used against him later. What does he mean by he is a withness? You really think people are dumb. If you really want Otedola's side of the story MR Honorable, give him his public hearing. Have you ever seen a block busting movie dropped in secret? By the way what is if he truly gave FARCROOK money, did FARCROOK deny collecting money? Incompetent people.
Re: Otedola Denied Releasing Audio Tape To Media House by Nobody: 5:20pm On Jul 09, 2012
if you the committee knew they were eventually going to discuss what transpired at the hearing why did they refuse to make it public initially? Only to come and start telling us what Otedola said and what they replied. Bunch of deluded idi.ots Do they really think we don't know that they are trying to divert attention from the fact that they are all rogues.

Moderators - how can you put two conflicting stories on the front page? Which one do we believe? This one says - Otedola denies releasing "audio tape". This other one here https://www.nairaland.com/985681/reps-claim-otedola-no-video-clip says, Otedola denies releasing "video tape"

Which one do we believe?

Initially, Odetola claimed to have a video tape showing the bribe sting between him and Farouk. A few weeks later, NA came out with the audio PORTION of the bribe sting. Now, we still have no video tape out and Odetola denies giving NA an audio tape, wtf are we suppose to believe?

If its not Otedola then it must be the SSS. These are the two involved in the so called "string" operation, no one else.

im wondering what the NA are actually investigating, clear case of crime? they have abandoned executive duties to become detectives? this is a neglect of office and waste of national resource. btw, somebody claimed he offered a bribe, the other admitted he took the bribe, and our big tommy expensive executives want to investigate "did you true true give bribe?" or "did you true true take the bribe?". same way OBJ publicly named them rogues and theives on national TV, they said they will investigate OBJ's statement "did you true true say that we are theieves?".... i see this investigation work is really serious for our executives oh, its not easy.. they deserve to embezzle national wealth for this hard work

People you have refused to listen to my words of wisdom.
Nollywood in the house. we need a big screen to watch our so called omoluabi and our mr lawan - mala.
Haba u people seems to have forgotten that when you start a nollywood movie you know the end already. especially when its genny and ramsey, RMD n rita. when fred and Black femi are inside same movie.
one will be a smoothe operator and one will be lousy.
Or ronke oshodi oke and stephie are in same movie.
Haba you guys cuts my heart. We really need a a bowl of porn corn each and cola drinks then rest to watch.
at this junction i love the movie cos we are just laughing at the jokes of the nation called nigeria.
