The sum of N2 million was spent by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on players of the U-17 National Team (Golden Eaglets) picked for the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) test.

An impeccable source revealed to SportingLife that a total of 40 players underwent the test last week at the National Hospital in Abuja.

The figure when broken down showed that N50,000 was spent on a player that took part in the last screening exercise held in Calabar, Cross Rivers last month.

"Unfortunately we are still expecting the results. We had expected that by now it would have been out since we have just this month and August to prepare for our qualifiers," said the source.

The results maybe next week. However, there are fears that some players may fail the test which Eaglets Chief Coach, Manu Garba has dismissed.

"It is not right for people to discredit the MRI test. The test has been medically approved by professionals in the medical world. 40 Eaglets are still awaiting the result of the test. The players I took for test are 17 years and below," the coach was quoted in some dailies.

You are a real dumbo. A family relation underwent a CT scan for N35,000 recently. Do you think an MRI is a machine you can put in your suitcase? Have you ever watched documentaries on Discovery channel to see how big those machines are?

You can Google the cost of an MRI in the US and compare. Our people should start learning to read and get enlightened.

An MRI machine can cost upwards to $500,000 dollars.. If I own one in Nigeria, am definitely not doing one for 50,000 naira. Too cheap .. U have to Factor in training and equipment housing. And a doctor to read the result unless am sending the result to India to get read cheaply.

I humbly suggest we get our facts right befor rushing into writing rubish as comment. I am a Medical Radiographer, i use MRI as well as other imaging modalities such as CT SCAN,X-RAY and ULTRASOUND SCAN to make diagnosis. Out of all these, MRI is the most expensive diagnostic procedure that ranges between 50K(Governmen Hospitals)- 120k(Private Centres) because of the cost of acquiring the machine. So if NFF says it spent 50k per person for the procedure, then we should commend them for being frank with the price cos i once practiced in National Hospital Abuja, before establishing my own Centre.
NOTE- Medical Radiography is a promising business venture,as better medical practice in Nigeria is begining to rely more on diagnosis. Interested partners and investors are welcomed for consultations.

So what is wrong with 50k 4 MRI test? I'm aware my friend was told 2 pay 92k 4 MRI test last week in Abuja. If u knw where they can do it 4 less, please oblige me.

Very cheap. It is done btw 48k - 60k in P H and UMUAHIA. It is not inflated. Be informed and stop uninformed criticism.

Its a coming development hoping they would be genuine in their intentionof developing young player cos that is the essence of the under17 tournament....cos player like opabunmi, chris santos is no where to be found cos of fake age and players like Raul is still palying and scoring good gaol for Schalke
