Hello guys,
I have a Honda Civic 2008. for over a year now I sometimes tend to hear a rattle noise coming from the engine side while accelerating specifically at low rpm towards 2000rpm when about shifting into second gear. There's no engine stall or power loss. I use fully synthetic oil 5w20 oil only. No CEL, several mechanic have checked and said the engine is fine nothing is wrong, I'm just confused. This does not happen in neutral or park but only while driving and when it engine is warmed up, especially when the thermostat is fully open at 98 degrees celsius and the fans come on, I use my scanner to monitor this vital. I have replaced the thermostat, changed coolant, flush radiator etc (I use Honda 50/50 type 2 coolant).

Since this only happens when driving, its difficult to pin point the exact location of the problem.
One time i tried draining all the fuel in the system and refilling with fuel from a different filling station. I noticed i wasn't hearing the noise anymore for a while until one day. I have tried octane booster, injector cleaners even cleaned it the injectors and the entire fuel system.

One mech said it might be a tiny leak from to top gasket, that it might be internal heat, since this only happens when its fully warmed up. I'm just confused. There is no coolant leak or anything, no smoking, engine is still quiet and sound.

P.S The rattle noise sounds like a car that's overheating and the gas pedal is pressed, but this car is not over heating(temp gauge never gets to the middle). I noticed using AC helps to reduce the chances of the rattle since the temperature hardly exceed 78 degrees celsius when the AC is on.

If I'm to describe the sound thoroughly I would say it sounds this way "ggrrrrr". Just for a short period of time ,1 -2 seconds and only happens when I step on the gas pedal at low rpm

Please I need help and suggestions, any one experienced something similar ? Thanks and sorry for the long write up.

It's a factory fault. It doesn't affect engine performance, I've heard one or two people complain such though... 06 to 08 civic experience it

I have a 2006 Honda civic as a utility vehicle, very rugged. On Saturday, I called a nearby mechanic to service it as my main mechanic wasn't around. I usually buy my own oil.

The guy called me and said transmission oil was very low. He said I will require 2 litres as he will drain and refill. I sent him money and told him to get honda transmission oil.

The stupid guy brought my car back and in the boot, I saw empty cans of toyota transmission oil. I asked him why he didn't get the Honda as I requested amd he said he couldn't find, that it's the same thing, bla bla bla.

I later called my main mechanic to explain and he said, no worries and I should use it like that till next time I want to drain the oil.

I've decided to bring it here for advice. Should I let it be or get Honda Atf and replace. Even a guy who sells oils and parts said I shouldn't worry. But I know my people here will know better. Advice please.

Nothing to panic.

This particular honda transmission na rock solid.

Used oando dextron 2 for mine through out my 4years of usage as against people telling me to use expensive honda atf

100 milage added to the car before I sold, this gear was still good and and very sharp like madt.

I'm 100 percent sure the new owner is still enjoying the car.

If I were you, I would drain it and buy original Honda fluid

Good day good people

I drive honda accord 2005, though I do not usually drive it like that. At least once in a week I do drive it.

Yesterday I drove it to church, on my way coming back home I noticed the D light blinking, then a reverse light shows up while driving. Before now, when I turn on ignition the D light shows up and goes off withing a second but now the light is blinking, some time it goes normal or not even show up at all.

When I reach home I do some research on Google, one of the cause was to check the ATF level which I did this morning, and truly the level was below the first hole.

Now, where I got lost is, can I add ATF or flush out the one that is inside and refill it with new one, because I don't know the fluid that was there before, and I don't know the previous owner as to ask him with ATF he was using on it.

Budget is tight right now, I want to know which fluid to buy in the case if I can't get original dw1. Thanks

If you cannot buy honda DW1 park the car and take public transport, any other fluid you use apart from the recommended, B4 2years runs out, you will be shopping for a replacement gear box.

DW1 you need 4Ls should not be more than 30k, do a drain and refill which will last another 2years.

Hello friends, I drive a 2008 Honda Accord, I changed the tie-rod and stabilizer linkages, I noticed the mechanic also disconnected my battery because I have to input the radio code again when I picked the car. The issue now is that the temperature gauge on the dashboard gets to H within 2 mins of driving, both fans work, radiator has coolant, engine wasn't too hot, the coolant wasn't too hot too. I dip my finger. Please what could be wrong? Is it the temperature gauge that's misbehaving? Please help me.

What has tie rod ends and stabilizer rod got to do with battery?
If you’re in abuja, contact me to check that car physically then fix it.

If you can, try and take your vehicle there. I'll give you the contact of the mechanic that helped me

Happened to me last month too, same car.

first of all scan your car just to be sure what the problem is

My own problem was the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor was bad. Thank God i had a spare i bought sometime ago.

I replaced it and everything came back to normal.

Please note that there are 2, one on the engine on the driver side, the other one is on the radiator(mine is missing though).

So scan the car first to be sure that's the problem and start fixing from there.

cheers

If your fuel cap is in good condition, then it is likely your evap canister vent valve is not sealing properly.
Google and YouTube should help you with this.

Just remove the valve (it's plastic) , clean it with a dry cloth, check the seals, and reinstall. You may need to blow some air through the valve in both directions to push out any dust or cobweb.
NOTE -- Do not spray any liquid in there. You don't need such.

(This was the fix for mine about 2 or 3 years ago. It has never reocurred since then).

Thank you very much. I did this and It fixed it.

Good evening
Please I have a Honda Accord 2005. Recently, I had cause to change my engine. Since then, the vehicle jerks when the rev gets to 3.
My Mechanic directed me to an Electrician who wants me to pay to scan saying It's an electrical fault.
Pls I would appreciate if anyone here has any ideas as to the cause and solution

Hopefully it should be your fuel pump. Had similar issues with my old engine. Gladly the engine packed up and once I changed it ,the issue stopped.

I actually don't want to mention i change my fuel pump but was, still having same jerking and Rev won't pass 2, with my old engine.but if you try accelerating gradually it will enter and even supercede, but it shouldn't be so.
But with this New Engine Nothing again nah Fire go.
If you are still within the engine grace period, change it

I'm sure your check engine light is on please scan your vehicle however if your car can not rev past 3k rpm on motion just know that your VTEC solenoid which is usually located behind the engine is dirty, damaged or have wiring issue. Basically it's the VTEC solenoid but scan the car regardless

Hello fam,

my civic 06 is slowly leaking power steering fluid, i've had to top it from time to time. Mechanic said its the seal connecting the steering pump or so that is weak, he has fixed it severally but nothing permanent.

Pls how can this be fixed without changing pump completely?

The question is after the various times your mechanic attempted fixing the seal did you notice any immediate improvements for a while before it got bad again or was the issue still present?

If the issue went away and returned after his fix then it means he’s either using substandard parts or he didn’t do a very good job.

Even if he used good seals some mechanics don’t understand that torquing bolts onto a power steering pump has it’s own specifications. You screw it too tight and it spoils the seal - You screw it too loose and fluid gets past the seals.

If I were you I’d let him work on it again but this time implore on him to use a very good replacement seal. Also check if the power steering hoses are of the right size/diameter (if it’s not the one from factory double check if they replaced with the correct type).

Either your left or right front tyre brake disc(s) are bad. You should either resurface it or get new ones.

Yes, there were improvements and the issue went away for a while before returning. You are correct here, he is not doing a very good job. I am tired of the trials and failing.
I checked online for replacement seals, showed him to confirm so i can order it on aliexpress, he disagreed and even suggested changing pump, then i realise it was a dead end. He may not understand the workings. I def need a better technician.
The hoses have not been tampered with, there are factory fitted.

Thank you sir, it was the temperature sensor. The mechanic disconnected it, according to him, so both fans could be blowing at all time. I had to replug it and everything is fine now.
