i received same sms two days ago and i bought 5k worth of airtime via VTU.... Guess what? I was credited with 10k bonus to make Mtn to Mtn calls all day for one month. My package is Mtn pulse.

You have said it all. The freebie is more or less selective. If you are choosen for a special bonus, you will be notified via SMS. One of my MTN lines received a message that I can make on-net calls for N6 per minute, and N3 to one special number I registered by sending it to, I think, 567. The favour will terminate on 31 July, 2012. And it's been working. This specially discounted rates don't work on my other MTN lines.
