A fourth-year medical student of the Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, in Edo State, Miss Oghogho Christiana, has allegedly been kidnapped.
CAMPUS GIST gathered that Christiana was kidnapped along the Benin-Auchi road, Thursday evening.
President of the AAU Student Union Government, Mr. Osamagbe, confirmed the development in his post on social media.
A family member of the kidnap victim, who craved anonymity, also collaborated the report.
The source claimed the kidnappers have made contact and presently demanding N7 million ransom.
Checks by CAMPUS GIST on Christiana's WhatsApp status suggests she was kidnapped on her way to Ekpoma, near Benin City.
The post, which reads 4:12pm(yesterday), revealed she was to deliver starch and banga - which she deals on - to some customers.
Our AAU correspondent, who spoke to Christina's mother, reports that the victim's mother confirmed the development.
The mother said the kidnappers are demanding the sum of N7 million to release her daughter, adding that today(Friday) is the "last day" for payment.
Efforts to reach the AAU management via the Public Relations Officer, proved abortive. It was however gathered that course mates of the kidnap victim are trying to raise some funds.
Contacted, spokesman for the Edo State Police command, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, said the police has not been briefed.
“We have not been briefed, the command is not aware of such development, once I am briefed, I will let you know,” the Police PRO said on phone.
Christian's kidnap is coming barely one month a student of the school was allegedly abducted on same Benin-Auchi road. The story, however, turned out be false much later.

Social media users have dragged Pope Francis after liking a semi-naked picture of an Instagram model, Natalia Garibotto, @nataagataa.
In the photo sighted by Igbere TV, Garibotto was posing in front of a school locker wearing a cropped top, mini skirt and suspenders.
Pope Francis, the current head of the Catholic Church, has 7.2 million followers on his Instagram, @franciscus.
It’s unlikely that Pope Francis actually runs his Instagram page himself, and the Instagram like was likely to be an accident.
Model Garabotto is pretty big on the social media platforms, with 2.2 million followers on Instagram alone.
After she noticed the like on her profile from Pope Francis, Natalia was highly amused and joked: “At least I’m going to heaven.”
Then, she uploaded a video showing the like from Pope Francis to her main Instagram feed and captioned the post: “On this very day I was blessed, you could be too.”

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has approved the appointment of Osarodion Ogie, Esq., as Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
Igbere TV recalls that Ogie, was SSG to the Governor throughout his first tenure from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement forwarded to Igbere TV, Saturday November 14, Governor Obaseki said this was the only political appointment to be made for now.
He added that all other appointments are deferred to the first week of February, 2021.
Obaseki was on November 12 sworn in for another four years with his deputy, Hon. Philip Shaibu, after defeating Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the APC to win reelection.

Governor directs Transport Ministry to recruit more staff for State Traffic Management Authority
The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Innoson Group of Companies, Chief (Dr.) Innocent Chukwuma has commended Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State for “ensuring an enabling environment and a favourable investment climate for commercial activities to thrive within the state”.
Igbere TV reports that Chief Chukwuma who made the commendation during the launch of the Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company Ltd’s novel city transportation service in the state, “aptly christened IVM Cruise”, thanked Gov. Ugwuanyi for his presence at the epoch-making event, stressing that it was an attestation to his commitment to business development and youth empowerment.
Represented by a Director of the Board of Innoson Group, Mr. Alfred Nwosu, the Chairman disclosed that flag-off was “indeed auspicious as it is the realization of our company’s vision to among other things contribute to the financial empowerment of our people while transforming the city transportation system of our beloved Enugu”.
He explained that the IVM Cruise service “is a unique technology-driven ride hailing service which offers our pilots a good chance of becoming dignified transporters and owners of brand new Innoson Connect Vehicles after an initial period of three years”.
Launching the service, Gov. Ugwuanyi noted that it was reminiscent of global brands such as Uber Technologies, inc. and Lyft inc., and will go a long way to improve transportation in the state, create jobs for the teeming youths, reduce poverty and offer opportunity for startups in transportation business, “as the beneficiaries could become owners of the vehicles after initial three years”.
The governor, who announced that his administration was prepared to provide training for the drivers engaged in the IVM Cruise service, directed the State Ministry of Transport to recruit more staff for State Traffic Management Authority.
He added that the state government will ensure a favourable operating environment, security and enabling physical infrastructure for the transport service to thrive in the state.
Noting that city transportation has been a major plank of his administration, Gov. Ugwuanyi pointed out that it recently undertook measures to optimize service delivery in the sector including the employment of Traffic Officers in the State Ministry of Transport for enhanced traffic management in the city and approval for recruitment of additional Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO).
Other measures, according to the governor, include the procurement of additional two new vehicle Tow Trucks for managing road obstruction and other rescue operations in the state, purchase of operational Motor Bikes for the Ministry and continuous provision of communication gadgets, uniforms and kits for the operations of the Traffic Officers in the state.
“I proudly reckon that the event of today is a watershed in city transportation in Enugu State and I seize this opportunity to acknowledge the outstanding contributions of Chief (Dr.) Innocent Chukwuma, OFR, Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Innoson Group of Companies, to the 21st Century industrial revolution in Nigeria”, Gov. A popular sports journalist and former Media Officer of El-Kanemi Warriors, Prince Anthony Obaseki, is dead.
Obaseki reportedly died on Sunday morning at undisclosed hospital in Udu, Delta State.
Igbere TV gathered that the late journalist had been down with stroke for some months before his passage.

The impeachment letter was signed by 9 out of the 10 lawmakers present at plenary Monday morning.

The case involving a middle-aged man who was arrested for allegedly raping, impregnating and aborting the pregnancy of his stepdaughter, in his Lagos residence, have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID.
Igbere TV had exclusively reported how Mr. Owen Akpan of Sadiku Street, Berger Suya Olodi, Apapa, in Lagos State, began abusing his teenage stepdaughter at age 9. The girl is now 21, and just completed her senior secondary school education.
Mr. Akpan, from Akwa Ibom, was arrested on Saturday, October 3 following a report and intervention of a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), the Women of Inestimable Values, who rescued the victim at the verge of committing suicide.
Although there were alleged moves and intense pressure on the police by 'interested parties' who colluded with the victim's mother to strike out the matter, the move was however resisted by the NGO.
On Tuesday, the Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Police Command, SP Olamuyiwa Adejobi, said the case has been transferred to the SCID, Panti, in Yaba, on the orders of the police commissioner.
In a chat with our correspondent, Adejobi said the man who was being remanded at the Trinity police station, Apapa until now, would be charged to court on Wednesday(today).
"The CP(Commissioner of Police) has ordered the matter be moved to Panti(SCID),” the police spokesman, SP Adejobi said.
“He will be charged to court tomorrow(Wednesday). The CP has ordered for that”, he added.
An impeccable source had earlier raised the alarm that the victim's mother, Mrs. Akpan was trying to cover up the matter in order to let the perpetrator-husband go scot-free.
A spokesperson for the Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) handling the case, The Women of Inestimable Values, however insisted that nothing would stop the NGO from pursuing the matter until justice is served.
The perpetrator had earlier made confessional statement to the police authorities and Igbere TV, following his arrest on Saturday. He admitted to the crime and collaborated his stepdaughter's claims.
Akpan, who never denied sleeping with his stepdaughter, also revealed how he assisted the victim in carrying out abortions which he admitted were products of his sexual escapades with the stepdaughter.
