Guarantee Trust Bank says it is taking all necessary legal steps to ensure that no illegal or fraudulent execution is carried out by Innoson motors, with whom it has a long-drawn-out court case.

On Friday, Innoson Nigeria Limited had announced that it obtained a writ of Fifa from the Federal High Court in Awka, Anambra State, against GTB to effect the judgment given by the Federal High Court in Ibadan and upheld by the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

Cornel Osigwe, the Head of Corporate Communication of Innoson, made the announcement, saying: “The Chairman of Innoson Group, Chief Dr. Innocent Chukwuma, OFR has through a Writ of FiFa taken over Guaranty Trust Bank PLC for and on behalf of Innoson Nigeria Ltd as a result of the bank’s indebtedness to Innoson Nigeria Ltd. In a landmark decision on February 27th 2019, the Supreme Court of Nigeria dismissed GTB’s appeal — SC. 694/2014 — against the judgment of Court of Appeal, Ibadan Division.”

"We have taken over GTBank in Awka and Nnewi," Osigwe subsequently announced, adding that "other branches are coming soon".

However, the bank has moved to assure its customers of the safety of their funds, clarifying that the said judgement is applicable to the account of the Nigerian Customs Service Board domiciled with the bank, rather than the bank as an entity.

“The attention of Guaranty Trust Bank PLC ("the Bank" has been drawn to statements circulating in the news and social media in respect of a purported enforcement of a judgement of the Federal High court, Ibadan, Oyo state, at one of its branches in Anambra state,” it said in a statement on Friday night.

“The Bank as a law-abiding corporate citizen is taking all necessary legal steps to address this situation and ensure that no illegal or fraudulent execution is carried out.

“It is important to state that the Judgment allegedly in issue is in respect of a Garnishee Proceedings against the account of the Nigerian Customs Service Board domiciled with the Bank and not against the Bank as an entity.

“The Bank remains committed to providing best-in- class customer experience to all its valued customers."

The Vice President Of Nigeria Osinbajo has lamented that Nigeria earned $383billion in four years, 2010 – 2014, the highest ever in the history of our country, yet Lagos-Ibadan expressway was not done.

The Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, on Thursday declared that the People’s Democratic Party failed to complete single major infrastructure project in 10 years.

He said this at the 11th Bola Tinubu Colloquium held in Abuja.

Osinbajo lamented that Nigeria earned $383billion in four years, 2010 – 2014, the highest ever in the history of our country, yet Lagos-Ibadan expressway was not done.

“Lagos-Kano Railway and all that is being done today, not done then.

We cannot point to a single major infrastructure project that was completed in the 10-year period, despite the high earnings, including power.

“So, a government coming after so many years of waste must be a government, first, that emphasizes fiscal prudence, a government that emphasizes integrity in public finance so that it would manage the little resources to achieve the maximum that can be achieved.

“And that is what President Muhammadu Buhari set out to do.

As I keep saying, the president has never claimed to be an orator. He just gets things done,” he said.

Nigeria Senator Godswill Akpabio has revealed that some clergymen in Akwa Ibom State called him a herdsman after he defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Akpabio dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in August 2018, to join the ruling party.

In an article titled:-

‘The Lies and Liars of the Election’, the former Governor of the state revealed how the men of God turned against him following the decision.

“I am happy that God is not like some of His priests.

“Ever since I decamped to APC, they have been praying against me and they have joined in peddling the lies about me.

Very well known Church prelates and Bishops that dined with me for 8 years while I was governor, despite my benevolence to them and their families joined the fray calling me killer herdsman for joining APC.

“But some of these men of God were in this same Country in 2012 when the farmers/herdsmen clashes claimed the lives of over 1000 people in the Benue/Plateau/Mambilla axis.

At that time, a Christian was the President but was not accused of being a killer of Christians. The farmers/herdsmen clashes predate Nigeria’s Independence.

“The clashes have occurred under various leadership.

Yet the “men of God” have been unconscionable in accusing the current President of masterminding genocide against Christians because he is a Muslim.

I am happy that God does not condemn a man based on one man’s testimony, but He sees the heart and judges our motives and intentions.

Whether one is a Christian or Muslim, we all worship the same God WHO will at the appointed time judge us from our deeds in words and actions,” Akpabio wrote.

Oh no, report reaching us has claimed they a pastor has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Northern Nigeria.

The pastor identified as Rev. Emmanuel Haruna, the past ECWA Lafia DCC Chairman, was kidnapped at his station, ECWA Gidan Ausa, Jankwe Development Area of Nasarawa State.

He left his house for a bit in search of better mobile network to make calls when some gunmen attacked him and took him away.
