The West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will now hold from August 4 to September 5, 2020.

This was announced by the Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajuiba, on Monday during the daily COVID-19 Presidential Task Force briefing.

“As soon as we conclude WAEC, we will take NABTEB and NECO,” he said.

The federal government last week approvedwhat it called “safe reopening” of schools nationwide.

The government said the reopening of schools was meant to allow students in graduating classes (Primary 6, JSS 3, SS3) resume preparation for examinations.

HUSHPUPPI: Group Wants The FBI, Interpol, To Arrest And Question Atiku, Deji, Others, Over Alleged Links To The Alleged Instagram Celebrity Fraudster

The National Coalition of Democrats, NCD, has called on the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, and International Police, Interpol, to arrest and investigate a former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, and other Stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, over alleged possible links to arrested suspected Instagram Celebrity fraudster, Raymond Igbalode, popularly known as Hushpuppi.

Renowned for his flamboyant lifestyle, Hushpuppi and 12 others, were nabbed in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, UAE, by the Interpol on June 10, over multiple cyber crimes and money laundering to the tune of 150 million dirhams (N168 billion).

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, subsequently declared the Instagram Celebrity wanted, over links to several cyber frauds.

In a statement signed by its Spokesman, Garuba Nuhu, on Wednesday, the National Coalition of Democrats reasoned that there could be more to this act, especially with Hushpuppi’s alleged known relationship with some PDP members, as seen in pictures and videos on the social media.

According to the group, Hushpuppi might have actually worked discreetly with the opposition party, in laundering of funds for the prosecution of the 2019 general elections.


The NCD said that its logic is born out of the fact that PDP top shots, led by its Presidential Candidate in the 2019 elections, held several meetings in Dubai, ahead of the polls, and the likes of Atiku, Dino Melaye, Timi Frank, and Deji Adeyanju, are possibly his close Associates.

The group, therefore, called on the FBI and Interpol to investigate Atiku and other PDP members who may have been first-line beneficiaries of the fraud committed by Hushpuppi.

It added that Hushpuppi could have likely “assisted these individuals to launder funds through his network, because the level of fraternity between Hushpuppi and these individuals points to that direction”.

Another female student in Oyo state , Grace Oshiagwu has been raped and killed on Saturday afternoon at a church in Idi-ori area of Shasha, Akinyele Local Government Area.


The 21-year old lady is a National Diploma student of Business Administration at the Oke Ogun Polytechnic, Saki, Oyo State.

It was also reported that the young lady was raped and killed at a church where her parents live.

I think subjects outrightly failed in WAEC will not be record on the certificate, maybe that is why mathematics is missing out and other subject. Also, he might have sat for another school leaving Exam somewhere else which qualifies him to enrol into University of Ibadan.- only him can tell.

In modern day, students can combine 2 sittings to get admitted into the university. I wouldn’t know how it was done in the past. Today, students have opportunity to sit for 4 exams within a year (WAEC & NECO and their corresponding GCEs)

On the issue of his grades, what the constitution state is that one must have sat for a school leaving certificate exam before one can vie for any office. A case study of Adeleke who sat for only English in his WAEC despite having F9 in the subject he sat for. The Certificate was admissible at the court because there was evidence he sat for an exam which the constitution emphasized.

FEC approves N623m for customs to buy computers

The federal executive council (FEC) has approved N623 million for the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to purchase computers in all its zonal and area commands.

Speaking with reporters after the FEC meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, Lai Mohammed, minister of information, said the money was approved after Zainab Ahmed, minister of finance, presented a memo.

The minister said the N623 million would cover the cost to purchase 1,200 computers for the organisation.

“The minister of finance presented a memo for the award of contract for 1,200 units of coloured printers and desktop computers for human resources and accounting management systems across zones and area commands of the Nigeria Customs Service, which was approved,” he said.

“The sum of the contract was N623,700,000 for the 1,200 desktops and computers for the use of the customs service all over the country.

Mr. Akabueze, popularly known as Ben, was first appointed as a Special Adviser Planning (SAP) to the President on February 15th, 2016 and later re-deployed and appointed as DG Budget, June 10th, 2016 by Mr. President, to handle the nagging issues in the Budget office at that time.

This appointment would expire June 10th, 2020.
The Budget Office is currently undergoing several reforms under the leadership of Akabueze towards improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the Budget office of the Federation.

He attended All Saints Primary School, Jericho, Onireke, Ibadan, Oyo State between 1975-1980. Ogun COVID-19 Update #7: 59 Total Discharged, Total Active Now 134 including 7 New Cases

On Thursday, 14th May, 2020, Ogun State discharged 11 COVID-19 patients from the earlier reported 127 total confirmed cases.

The discharged persons, who twice tested negative to the Coronavirus, have now rejoined their families, making the overall number of discharged cases in the State to 59.

The NCDC however announced on Thursday, 7 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in Ogun State. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the State to 134.

There are currently 70 total active cases that have now been admitted and are being treated in the Isolation Centres in the State.

All close and possible contacts of the 7 patients just confirmed are currently being traced.

The general public is advised to maintain distancing and hygiene measures recommended by health authorities.

The government of Oyo State, on Thursday, announced the passing of its Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Honourable Kehinde Ayoola.
The Commissioner, had at the start of the Fourth Republic, served as the Speaker of the 4th Session of the Oyo State House of Assembly, under the administration of former Governor Lam Adesina, also of blessed memory.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Seyi Makinde, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, indicated that Hon. Ayoola had two weeks ago driven himself to Frontida Critical Care Hospital, Iyaganku, Ibadan for medical checks, after which he was advised to proceed on bed rest.
He was, however, pronounced dead on Thursday morning.
The statement indicated that Governor Makinde received the news of the passing of the Commissioner with “shock and deep sadness.”
The governor said: “I received with deep sadness, the news of the death of my dear friend and colleague, Rt. Honourable Kehinde Ayoola. Up until his death this morning, he served as the Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources in Oyo State.
“I met late Rt. Honourable Ayoola in 2002, when we worked together as members of the Fortune Group for the election of Senator Rasheed Ladoja. He also served as the Director-General for my 2015 campaign and the Deputy Director-General for my 2019 campaign.
“He was a loyal friend with a dedication to duty that cannot be questioned. He will be sorely missed for his great oratory skills and his love for the people of Oyo Town and Oyo State. May his soul rest in peace.”

The national leadership of the National Association Nigerian Students (NANS) and National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) have passed a vote of no confidence on Senator Tolu Odebiyi representing Ogun West Senatorial District at the Senate, describing him as “a passive and dormant lawmaker,” who was unconcerned about the plights of his constituents.

The World Health Organisation African Region says nearly 1,000 health workers in the continent have been infected with COVID-19 since the outbreak of the global pandemic.


In a tweet posted on its official Twitter handle on Tuesday, the global health body, while commemorating Nurses Day 2020, said many of the infected health workers were nurses.

The WHO stated that healthcare workers have been more important than ever during the COVID-19 response period.

“Nearly 1000 health workers in the African Region have been infected with COVID-19, many of them are nurses.

“Stakeholders must ensure that nurses have the supplies and equipment they need to deliver care safely. Nurses are essential in keeping communities healthy,” says WHO.

I turned on my radio this morning listening to Sweet 107.1FM, Abeokuta. There were discussants on a programme titled “Gentlemen of the Press."

On that programme, they were reviewing what the government of Governor Dapo Abiodun is doing to flatten the curve of the spread of COVID-19 in Ogun state.

There were different submissions, allegations and counter allegations.

When it was time to get the reactions of listeners, a message was read: “I miss former Governor Ibikunle Amosun." That was what somebody had to say about the whole discussion.

Immediately the message was read, I began to ruminate over it. Why does this person miss Amosun? What would Amosun have done differently at a time like this?

The sender of that message did not say much. He only said he missed Amosun. But, believe me sincerely, that message is fully loaded.

After careful analysis of that message, I began to realise why the person must have said he missed Amosun.

Everybody in Ogun State knows Amosun is a workaholic. He doesn't sleep until he gets things done. Even when there was no pandemic, he didn't sit in his room to give orders. He doesn't believe in photos. Whatever project he embarks on, Amosun will keep visiting the site day and night until everything is done to what he termed ‘Ogun Standard'.

By now, Amosun's presence would have been felt everywhere, especially in Ogun border communities, where many are flouting the interstate travel ban. The palliatives would have gotten to many, if not all.

He was not a Governor that would keep journalists waiting for hours thinking about what to tell them.

Honestly, no one knows the kind of ‘machine' that is inside Amosun. He can trek kilometres without getting tired. He can work from morning till night without taking a rest. That's the kind of person we need at a time like this.

If Amosun were to be the governor of Ogun State this time, those violating the orders of the government won't have the courage to do so. He has this charisma. He earns respect without forcing it. The Senator has this style of convincing people to obey government policies and directives. He is not the type that addresses his people once in seven days. I know he would be giving daily updates to carry the people along.

I remember when former Senator Iyabo Anisulowo was kidnapped in 2016, the man was on top of the situation. He personally joined the search for the former Ogun West Senator.

Amosun was in Yewa to join security agents in searching for Anisulowo. He deployed all security apparatus to ensure Anisulowo was rescued unhurt. That's courageous of him.

During his reign, Amosun proved to the entire Ogun indigenes that he was really there to rebuild Ogun State. Like seriously, he accomplished that mission to rebuild.

The Yorubas do warn against comparing one child with another. This is because if we do that, we may annoyingly beat one child to death. Amosun stands out among equals.

Let me be frank right now. Many of us didn't like him when he was the governor. It was after he left office that we started seeing the difference between a stream and a river.

Just like that person said on radio, we are really missing Amosun this time. There is no gainsaying the fact that Ogun State needs someone like him at a time like this.

His level of proactiveness is second to none. All thanks to his visions in making Ogun what it is today. Think about the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) which he increased in geometric progression. Think about the urban renewal drive. He has made Ogun investors destination of choice.

Amosun has raised the bar of governance in Ogun state to the level that anybody operating below that bar will be seen as being ‘non-performing'.

It is no joke. In fact, Ogun people now want their governor to be everywhere like Amosun. I'm not sure if everybody can be like that.

When I saw a video of a Governor enforcing the lockdown order by stopping cars on the road, I said this is exactly what Amosun would have done if this had happened under him, because he is very aware of the porosity of Ogun borders with Benin Republic, Lagos, Oyo, Osun and Ondo.

Please note that I'm not doing a comparison, I'm only saying Amosun is one in a million. Ogun people will continue to miss him.

Between January and June 2019 , four leading banks generated N 24 . 3bn from account maintenance charged on their customers’ accounts , investigation has shown .
This is an increase of about 19 .18 per cent from N 20.39 bn generated in the corresponding period in 2018 .
Some banks on monthly basis charge their customers N 50 with or without card while some deduct N 1,000 from each customer’ s account per annum for maintaining their savings accounts .
The Senate had in 2018 called on the Central Bank of Nigeria to suspend the deduction of card maintenance fee.
The upper legislative chamber also directed its banking committee to investigate the deduction in comparison with what obtained in other countries .
The earning of some banks in account maintenance charges may have been propelled by large customer base.
Two leading banks by profit , Zenith Bank Plc and GTBank , for instance , have over 8 .6 million and 16 million customers respectively.
Specifically, Zenith Bank recorded N 9. 57 bn from account maintenance fee in the first six months of 2019 . This reflects 10 . 76 per cent increase over N 8. 64 bn reported in the first six months of 2018 .
GTBank Group ’s audited report for the first six months of the year ; N 5 . 71 bn was generated for maintaining customers account in the first six months of the year , up from N 5 . 18 bn in the first six months of 2018 .
The merger between Access Bank Plc and Diamond Bank Plc aided 96 . 15 per cent increase on account maintenance fees of Access Bank , moving from N 3. 14 bn in the first six months of 2018 to N 6 .16 bn in the first six months of 2019 .
Access Bank in its audited result and accounts for the six months ended June 30 said account maintenances fees were fees charged on current account .
“ N 1 on every N 1 , 000 in respect of all induced debit transactions is charged on these accounts , ” Access Bank explained.
The bank noted that card maintenance fees were fees charged customers for maintaining their accounts .
“The fees are earned and recognised by the bank over the validity year of the card. The bank charged the customers for this service on a monthly basis , ”extract from the bank ’s audited six months result for the period ended June 30 to the Nigerian Stock Exchange explained.

The United Bank for Africa Plc, on the other hand , reported 16 . 3 per cent increase on account maintenance fees , N 3. 39 bn , in the first six months of the year , up from N 2 .9 bn in the first six months of 2018 .
The President of the Bank Customers Association of Nigeria, Dr Uju Ogubunka , explained that the guide to charges by Banks and Other Financial Institutions in Nigeria , 2017 made no provision for “ Account Maintenance Fee ” .
Ogubunka , a former Registrar and Chief Executive of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, added , that the CBN guideline , however , provided for ‘Current Account Maintenance Fee ’
He noted that the CBN guide prescribed that the rate chargeable by a bank for this fee was negotiable with a customer subject to a maximum of N 1.00 per mille” .
Ogubunka said, “Consequently, no bank is authorised to make this charge without first, negotiating with the customer and the agreed rate must not be more than N1.00 per mille .
“ How many customers know that they ought to negotiate with banks on this fee? How many cross -check and verify the type, amount and basis of charges entered into their accounts by their banks ? How many seek redress when necessary ?
“ Nevertheless, the Guide ’s provision, directly or indirectly, places the burden on the banks . It is their responsibility to call the attention of their customers for negotiation.”
He called on regulators and supervisors of banks in the country to investigate and confirm that banks are complying with regulatory provisions on account maintenance charges.
According to him , CBN needs to impose deterrent sanctions on any bank found , not just violating the regulations but more fundamentally , cheating customers as well as putting the reputation of banks and bankers in disrepute .
He asked bank customers to examine their accounts periodically , with a view to ensuring they were managed in accordance with the rules / regulations of banking operation in the country .

The 300-level student of the Department Of Biology Education allegedly stabbed Iju at Treasure Base Hostel, Iworoko-Ekiti, for refusing to give her N2,500 to make her hair.

A20-year-old student of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, Bukola Odeyemi, has allegedly stabbed her lover, John Iju, to death.
The 300-level student of the Department Of Biology Education allegedly stabbed Iju at Treasure Base Hostel, Iworoko-Ekiti, for refusing to give her N2,500 to make her hair.
According to a report by The Nation, residents rushed to the apartment following the cry for help by the deceased.
The incident was said to have occurred around 10:00pm.
An eyewitness, who asked not to be named, wondered why a girl would kill her boyfriend over money to make her hair.
He said, “Odeyemi had demanded N2,500 from her lover, also a student of EKSU, to make her hair but an argument ensued after the deceased refused to give her the money.
“During the altercation, Odeyemi stabbed Iju in the chest and his cry for help attracted us but he did not survive the injury.”
Spokesperson for the police in Ekiti, DSP Caleb Ikechukwu, who confirmed the incident, said the suspect will be charged to court after investigation is concluded.

The Portuguese forward is arguably the most recognisable footballer in the world and plenty of fans believe he's the greatest player of all time.

In fact, many give him G.O.A.T status above his great rival Lionel Messi because of his accomplishments on the international stage.

The Juventus forward has won two major trophies with his country - the European Championships in 2016 and the UEFA Nations League in 2019.
On top of that, Ronaldo is Portugal's all-time top scorer and he has more caps than anyone else for the national team.

No player in the history of European football has scored that many international goals. What a ridiculous achievement.
In fact, his closest challenger, the legendary Ferenc Puskas, managed 84 for Hungary - six less than Cristiano.
Only one footballer, former Iran forward Ali Daei, has scored more goals than Ronaldo on the international stage.
He has 109. It's a massive number, but it's another record that the Portuguese could break before he retires.
After all, his country have four more qualifiers ahead of Euro 2020, then the tournament itself next summer.
Should Portugal make it, they will be defending their European crown, which was won four years ago in France.
The competition also gives Ronaldo another chance to win silverware on the international stage and further cement his status as the greatest footballer of all-time.
But, that of course, is talk for next summer. Right now, we just need to respect the fact that CR7 has reached the landmark of 90 goals. What a player.
