Most Nigerian fathers do the bare minimum and then wonder why they aren't close to their children. They don't make an effort to connect with them or build a friendship. They know very little about their children's lives, interests, and desires. Bare minimum and it's paying school fees, accommodation and in some cases even leaving properties behind for the children to inherit. That's what you people are calling bare minimum grin

Numerous families where the father died and the rent of his properties is what the children are using to survive today but bare minimum

Anyway this is why I always advocate for the man to also extend some financial responsibility in the house to the woman so he has time to connect with his children. He doesn't have to take loans, do ajo and slave away for children wey no go rate him provision for future.

He can work a more manageable schedule and catch up on the biological disadvantage that nature already places a man at (a woman will always be closer to the kids by default)

Anyway I've never seen a person with a grateful bone in their body use words like 'bare minimum' their friends in their lives and even their boyfriends or husbands also also have to deal with this ungratefulness not just the parents

I am simply judging from how I felt when I tried walking 3km and I am nothing close to obese. When I got home, my whole body ached and my heart beat increased.

Obese people struggle with any form of physical activity and I wonder how rapid their breathing will become if they tried that.

A parent that abandons a child at infancy is essentially leaving them to die, now if they are in a bad place it still behoves that parent in the formative years to build that relationship. You can't show up when that person is a full blown adult and Voila. Guilt trip that person to embrace you

At some point people should be man or woman enough to accept the consequences of their choices.

In scenarios like that I always ask if that child was in jail and not a decent member of society. Will that parent still go and look for the child? If they were destitute will that parent help? So you see even the reconnecting is usually one of convenience
